The number of times this quaint little copy place has saved my big fat arse during my 6 years at university through to my Masters program are countless. Count I can not in the wise old words of Yoda. They were open during the times I needed an assignment printed out, copied, binded, laminated, postered, you name it. These guys are awesome. Maybe it's the fact that they have many machines, or are located at an easy to walk in walk out spot of Toowong Village Shopping Centre. I don't know! But I do know that it works and I am not the only one it has saved. When my printer broke down and started eating my paper. When my printer started printing out gibberish instead of my assignment. When my printer ran out of or never had any ink. Did I even have a printer? Maybe I should have paid that extra $10 for the better brand I'm thinking. When group assignments turned to their last waking hour. When important presentations needed important binding in a colour which meant 'I mean business'. When you needed a million documents copied, binded, copied again, binded again. When binding fails. This place has been there for me through all these times. The guy who runs it has run it for many many years and is still there going strong! The prices for copies are not expensive at all he's very good at binding in under 1 minute. He didn't know I was timing him that one time, but I was, and again, in the wise words of Yoda... Impressed I was. If you are in need of a make shift office - try this place out, you will feel pretty at 'eeze'... at 'quick eeze' even.

Very very very very bad. We ordered a lounge chaise lounge from them just under 3 weeks ago. Never…read moretold that it would be delivered in a BOX with no one home. Never got a phone call which we were told we would be getting. Never told that the courier would only put the two boxes only at the front door and not bring them in. They are too heavy for us to bring in and are broken and torn and then retaped together. Not once were we told that we would be assembling them and that even if we were not home that the item would be left. Totally understand that it was an online item. We went to the store at Aspley to see what the type of lounge was like and shown lounges similar to the one we were buy. We were happy with this. It is something that we have not done before, buying online. Never told it would be such a horrible experience like this. The guy I spoke to down south said put a tarp on it until I hear back from the company. Does he not know what the Queensland thunderstorms are like. It will take 24 to 48 hours for them to get back to us. In that time we will have a completely washed out lounge. If we were told this would be happening, we would of gone else where to buy our items. We have just moved into our house and have purchases so much furniture. Eureka, Early Settlers and Amart. Never had problems like this. What do we do. Just leave it outside. Just dreadful.

As I walked into this store, an older couple, sitting quietly together making beaded necklaces, raised their heads in unison, greeted me into the store and promptly went back to their work. Lovely. This bead store isn't set up like the others in town. There aren't endless aisles of beads here. There are instead, small colour coded collections of beads in pretty arrangements. Individual bead lots are stored in glasses that are then placed upon velvet. They've got some unique beads that you won't find elsewhere too. This is because some of their beads are sourced from American vintage stores. This explains why there aren't hundreds of the same bead available- when the beads run out, they run out for good. They're something special. You are welcome to make your own beadwork in store and enlist the staff (that dear couple I mentioned before) to help you. I don't usually like to be assisted, but when I asked the lady about some of the beads, I realised that she could give an inside story to all of the beads in her store. The jewellery that the couple make in store is perhaps not to my taste, however, they are considerably lovely handmade pieces. Did you really think you'd be spending hundreds of dollars? I don't think so. That being said, I still check out the Reject Shop fairly regularly. Sometimes you're lucky to find awesome bargains that you won't find elsewhere. I personally love the DVD collection. The movies are all under $5, sometimes you'll even manage to score a bargain for only $1! It's a great place to find those old favourites that are really hard to come by in your regular DVD stores. When it comes to buying gifts you'll find that the Reject Shop comes in handy. Not for the main gift (although you may get lucky, depending on the age of the recipient) but for the gift wrap, boxes and a wide variety of cards. If you're looking for the cheap way out then head to the Reject Shop. If you want high quality products then head to a store that doesn't shamelessly call itself a 'reject'.

The staff at The Good Guys in Lutwyche are very nice. Kim in particular is very kind and helpful. She helped us out when we were shopping their last time and was able to do a good deal for us. If you need home appliances, white goods and kitchenware, I'd definitely recommend heading down to The Good Guys in Lutwyche. Not only will you get great prices, you'll receive the best customer service!

The first things that caught my eye was a crocheted rose-shaped brooch with quite a few other similar ones to keep it company. I found delight in the handmade jewellery and recycled accessories including hairpins made out of old buttons and old teacups being transformed into candle holders, which is something I would never have thought to do. They also had one of the very lovely dresses that is so identifiable as one of Rachel Burke's I Make My Day projects, which is surrounded by a mountain of handmade things to choose from like tin earrings and very flamboyant floral hairbands that are just gorgeous. I was most impressed with earrings that were fashioned out of origami designs. Some of the things in here are so original and it's so nice to see support for local crafters. One of the back shelves advertises renting a space in the store so other artists can sell their wares. As I was walking out I laughed out loud at the cute new spin on bottle top jewellery when I saw bottle tops printed with vintage pictures and resold as necklaces. I think that's a really cute and unique idea. Another item Handmade High Street currently sells is a product by Reclaimed Records, who make old records into new products like notepads and use only recycled paper. A recycled record notepad will set you back $45 but hey, you are paying for an old record. I like what this place has going on. They've got some really great pieces and I see a lot of potential for the artists who showcase their wares here.

Markets are often exhausting, subject to the elements, and aren't a very reliable way to get the money coming in if you're selling your goods in this fashion. The internet is a great way to get your stuff out there, but still, she went one further and opened a store- for the good of everyone! For her, for the people who rent space in her store, for the person who happens to pop in for a look and take away something local and unique. For the interested artist or craftsperson- the way the rent system works at Handmade High Street works is that there are small 'cubes' (shelving space) that are $20 per month. If you do larger scale work, clothing for example, and you have a rack that you'd like to have in store, it might cost you around $200 per month. The rental price is subject to how big and how much of the work there is, and whereabouts you want it placed in the store. There's some great stuff there too. The beads by Patti Pennisi made me want for the ocean, the glass work of Cairo Made That was gorgeous, and I couldn't help but want to take home some scented soy wax melts by Lisa Macnab. There's not the tired repeat of like works in there either; there's great diversity. Go in and support a new local business that supports it's locals. Handmade High Street. Remember that name.

If you pick your timing you may get some samples, but we find Melbourne and Sydney seem To do samples better. If there are samples you can do without lunch and graze around the store. The meat is really fresh and they have an ever increasing range of ready made foods. They have regular specials and have seasonal goods, right now there is a glut of Xmas chocolate and cakes. We got a Take and Bake pizza and cooked it at home. The pizzas are big but the ready cooked ones from the food court are enormous! Being a member you also get the cheapest petrol around. It's card only and you have to be a member. Recently they changed cards and you can no longer use Amex.
