"I love Costco. It's cheap, it has everything, the bread rolls are amazing, and the pizza is amazing. But waiting well over an hour just to get one pizza and a cookie--when I asked why it was taking so long, they just said, 'You just have to wait.' They didn't even tell me when it would be ready. But the pizza was good." read more
I freaking love Costco. If you like to buy in bulk get yourself a membership and start shopping! I love that there are heaps of American things though they are not always in stock. If you pick your timing you may get some samples, but we find Melbourne and Sydney seem To do samples better. If there are samples you can do without lunch and graze around the store. The meat is really fresh and they have an ever increasing range of ready made foods. They have regular specials and have seasonal goods, right now there is a glut of Xmas chocolate and cakes. We got a Take and Bake pizza and cooked it at home. The pizzas are big but the ready cooked ones from the food court are enormous! Being a member you also get the cheapest petrol around. It's card only and you have to be a member. Recently they changed cards and you can no longer use Amex. read more
Dear Baby Cheeses. No seriously, there were baby cheeses in bulk. So much of all the things in bulk. Didn't bring a bag? Don't worry there's a selection of Kate Spade handbags at the front of the store. Maybe you can take home your purchases in that? I walked into Costco's first and newly open to the masses QLD store wide-eyed. Part afraid for my life (the lines were never-ending and bulk specials seem to turn people into other-worldly creatures) and part curious creature for the human condition. What is it about a 2-for-1 special or something packed in multiples that turns people on their fellow man? So not to keep you long, here's my tips for a Costco trip: - Have your membership sorted. The lines for 'new membership' look like the line to wait for a celebrities signature. Except you're not. You're waiting for a mugshot so it's actually more like waiting at Queensland Transport. - Have some idea of what you want. I'm 99% sure I saw everyone in that shop buying something they didn't need but were throwing in their oversized trolley because it's Costco. My partner included. I could have made it a drinking game for each time I said, "Do we really need it?" - Eat before you go. Sure there's food there but trust me. Eat first. Also, pack water, a first aid kit, a compass and snacks. It's a jungle out there and like a good Scout you should always be prepared. - Have your smarts about the pricing. Yes, some items do work out cheaper but a lot of the items we looked at were no cheaper than in other supermarkets or stores. - Think about it. Is there anything natural about a pack of 12 apples in a plastic casing? Is it really necessary? What I didn't expect were brand name DSLRs, home wares, beds and an all too-tempting stationery aisle. Fascination aside this is a perfectly okay once every 6 month shop for house hold cleaning items and all that jazz but keep your senses about you! read more
Before Costco, we were Aldi advocates. But since Costco opened, well, all bets are off. The distinguishing difference with Costco is that the product are cheap and they are brand name (not Aldi Brand). Yes, you need to know your unit pricing. Frequently I hear the uneducated Costo virgin exclaim loudly "well that's cheaper at Woolies or Coles". In rare cases, these Costco virgins are correct. Unit Prices, people: they matter. Also be aware that a SOP for Costco is to do an entire store re-lay every week or so, just to keep shoppers on their toes (but mostly to make you walk the shop again and discover new items "you really need"). When you go back there again, chances are your bulk pack of Swiss Miss Hot Chockies will be where the nappies were. The only thing that stays consistent is the Audio Visual section, the Optical and Hearing Aid Center, the fixtures in the refrigerated area, and the Cafe. That Cafe... Putting Pizza shops in North Lakes out of business since 2014. The size of those things beggers belief when you get a whole one to take away. And they go on coupon special as well! A hot dog and a bottomless drink for $1.99. Slice of pizza the size of three chain pizza store slices for $2.99: insane! read more
It is like every Costco I have ever been to but reversed- like literally the layout is clockwise as opposed to counter clockwise, but I am not complaining:) Costco in Australia has good quality US products alongside good quality AUS products making for an even more enjoyable experience. It is not necessarily the bargain shop that some might expect. What Costco has is good quality food and products at a reasonable price because it is sold in bulk. Back in the states we would buy our staple items like nice cheese, meat, cleaning and toiletries as Costco that would last for a whole month or sometimes the whole year with paper goods. Now, after a suspenseful wait, we have that option here in Brisbane! The 9am crowd at the front is a bit intimidating but as soon as everyone is inside there is plenty of room to do your shopping. read more
As an Aussie who lived in U.S. for the last 5 years. Visit to the Costco is a ritual to get your perishables, frozen food, drinks, lunch and discounted gas. I will add a tip here on price secrets. Prices that end in 97¢: These have been marked down from the regular priced items, which end in 99¢ Odd pricing, such as 79¢, 49¢, or 89¢: These indicate specially priced items that Costco got a deal from the manufacturer. It is told that these can be better deals than at other stores, but not usually better than the 97¢ markdown. An asterisk* on the upper right side of the sign: The item won't be reordered. 88¢ or .00 endings: Manager markdowns. Sometimes the company uses these to move a product very fast. The trip during weekend and festive season is chaotic, FYI. The membership it will pay itself on a purchase of a big ticket item such as TV, etc. Slice of pizza and hot dog is just around the corner. Save space and money for lunch there. Whole Pizza is also worth the value and the test is good. read more

I have been waiting since I moved from The USA to Australia in 2012 for Costco to open in Queensland! While it was very crowded today it was worth the trip. Costco corporate did an amazing job with organising so many people to come through opening weekend. Yes there is a membership free of $60. Which allows you and another person who lives at the same address to enter. You are also able to bring 2 guest that can look, if they want to purchase something it has I be through your membership. We easily saved over $30-40 there today. We filled up on petrol for $1.37 a litre. It's $1.61 by our home in paddington. So what do they have there- everything including the kitchen sink and bath. Do you want to buy a TV,clothes, household electronics, kitchenware, tyres, books, DVDs, candy, baked goods, meats, fish, toilet paper, etc. they even have a playground for the backyard. The meat, fish and produce looks Incredible- yes maybe you can get it a bit cheaper somewhere else but not for the quality. We bought a flank steak which is my favourite cut of meat for fajitas and it was amazing. And it's all Australian meat. I was happy to see many of my Kirkland "the Costco brand" favorites like peanut butter pretzels. Yum!!! Did I mention there are free samples around the store- so if you are hungry you will be taken care of. You also can have a bite to eat as you are leaving. Where else can you have a hot dog and a drink with unlimited refills for $2. I could go on and on but if you are interested go check it out. The members hi is refundable if you aren't happy but trust me you will be. I only wish it was closer to home. There are talks about a Logan or Gold Coast location. read more

I have been a card carrying member since the days of Price Club (okay my mother was in those days - I was far too young to have my own card). So I know all about the appeal of bulk products and this is how I appreciate knowing the breakdown of pricing by unit/weight regardless of where I shop. Costco has a lot of stuff. But they don't have everything (I have seen people asking about lumber, paint - which Costco does not carry. Go down to Bunnings across the road for that.). I have converted my husband into Costco after he realised that we're saving some money over the long term, especially on staples such as toothpaste, shampoo and sanitary pads (for me, not him) as there'd be no need to buy them for the rest of the year. Toilet paper is thicker too so they last longer (not just in quantity). Now the food, bulk meat is often of very good quality. And you can divide (maybe pick up some of the ziplock freezer bags) and freeze them. They are good for months in the freezer. Other foods are extremely fresh and the strawberries are big and lasts for a good while (between 7-14 days for us). I could say so much more but let me just give you a tip: know your unit pricing of items. Not everything is cheaper. BUT Costco also has an amazing refund policy. If you don't like something. Take it back (even the perishables). If you bought something years ago from Costco - say a mattress - and not happy with it, return it. Don't need your receipt (although it helps) as all are recorded on your membership card. Don't forget to fill up on petrol, too! read more

All's good. EXCEPT.... I've been there twice and they are consistantly out of stock on Krusteaz Pancake batter from my home town. GRRRR.... Just like any other costco's. Yeah, it's crazy packed with people wandering around like tourists & not giving a shit if they stop with their carts in mid aisle & texting. Agro american coming through... oh, you'll get better reception with that cell phone up your arse! Get your stuff & get out of my way!!! I reckon that it'll calm down in about 6 months or so when people are tired of spending 4 hours there. The trick with this place, is knowing what you want before you go, learning where the items are in the store, and then just gettin er done in short order. zip zip zip & you're done. Typically, all the values are there if you do the math & have the storage you'll find Great brands, quality is higher than aldi's & it's great to see the woolies & coles getting some competition. Maybe they'll stop price fixing now & ripping off the general public. Some of the prices are the same as other stores, but the quality is much higher. I'd recommend going on a weeknight as they are open till 8:30pm. The weekends are much too crazy, and they run out of some products. read more

I'm not impressed with this type of shopping. For me the store is FAR too LARGE with no resting places, no easily visable points to meet up with my family when we do separate. The toilets are A-L-L the way through the registers. [Not appropriate when you have several small children]. I am not young and due to physical issues I HAVE to rest, doing my shopping in small short bursts. There is no provision for any 'REST' areas -- except right throughout to the eating area. I do not find their good economical. It's fine if you are a catering business and can pass the costs on to your customers, but for the average family, No!! No!!. There sre the ODD exception to the rule. Cooked chickens are wonderful. Food in the eatery is great but most is a good fun 'Cardiac_on_a_Plate'. For me living alone this place is definitely not serviceable, Sorry but I have to be honest. read more

Very ,very busy. You need to pay for membership to shop here. Everything is here pastry, pies, seafood and grocery items including tyres and electronics and jewellery. I get an email regularly and members from my family can shop with my card. But it is hell to get out of with security checking your purchases and people at the eatery overflowing into the exits. Rubbish from the food sales everywhere and just too many people in one place. On the shopping side there WILL be something you want there and you will buy but finding it and getting it out may be the issue here. Very American in design . You can buy fuel here as well. read more

Love Costco, so glad that they chose North Lakes to open their first store in QLD - it's just 10 minutes from where I live. I love the variety & the free samples & I can't wait to go back there each time read more
I love this store, it is so worth the membership fee. On the way into the store I get a soft drink that I can refill my entire visit. How much does this bottomless beverage cost? $1.29 or for $2 you can have it with a hot dog. Kirkland brand items are great and if you are hesitant to buy off brand items or try something new Costco takes that away by allowing you to return anything you buy at Costco no questions asked forever. This doesn't include electronics but does include food fresh and otherwise. read more
Some people love Costco, some hate it. I'm firmly in the addicted category. The hotdogs have taken hold of my weekend 'to do' list, and for $1.99 you can't beat them. The shopping variety at Costco is a highlight, with everything from Chulula hot sauce to electric golf buggys. In addition to a great variety of goods, their weekend food samples is a great way to try before you buy. The crowds can be a bit overwhelming if your not into a bit of argy bargy, so a weekday trip might your best bet. Costco can be a one stop shop that caters for everyone. read more

I really like this warehouse all of the people are really nice they take pride in they work place. And the line normally does not take really long to get thought. It may look but it really isn't. I recently went there and I asked one of the workers if they could get me a product and he quickly ran and got it for me. It is a really good place for customer service and the canteen is really good to. read more

I was shopping with my grandson last Tuesday who had a rather large vomit in one of the isles and i can say the staff were really great in getting it all cleaned up very quickly and making sure we had paper towel to clean ourselves up and my grandson had a very nice cool drink! They couldn't do enough to help. Thankyou very much for your assistance. Ann read more

The price is about the same as Coles or Woolies. Aldi beats most prices. Way to many people about. Defiantly not value for money. However the CosCo in US is cheap and great. For the old TV it appears much cheapet than Harvey Norman etc. read more

Have been a business member since 2014 and have been less than 6 times. Have no desire to return and never leave thinking "oh, I wish I had of got that". PROS Easy enough to get around during week and non public holidays - not too busy. Sufficient parking. Some items very reasonable i.e. Pocky sticks (a bulk pack of 10 is not much dearer than a single pack from the shop). If you know your prices then you can shop well and get the cheaper items. Food court at exit has reasonably priced food. Part of a club/membership. The confectionary section near the checkouts is a highlight for me - strawberry freddos in bulk, huge containers of jelly belly jelly beans, and giant blocks of cadbury chocolate that you could never eat before it got stale, always enthrals me. The hot chooks are large and well priced and very tasty. During busy periods they have taste testing of products. Some items can be bought in bulk for considerably less than some items at the supermarkets. They have some items you can't get elsewhere i.e. the orange american style plastic cheese. North Lakes shops close by; i.e. Myer, cinema, restaurants etc (we always have lunch there). CONS Extremely busy on weekend - parking insufficient and queues to checkout resemble Theme Park busy holiday periods. They need a sign on the highway heading south at the exit reminding you to take it to get to Costco - they don't. Not all items cheaper than stores i.e. Woolies has 24 pack of Kirks on special for $10 - Costco's price was $17.99. If you don't know/forgot your prices (I thought I did but when in store this wasn't the case on more than one occasion) - then you will overpay for items at Costco that you could have got cheaper at Woolies. Food court food is very reasonably priced but I steer clear of most of it as it was more "junk" style food and not really worth the increased weight, fat content, or ill feeling gained from its intake. But this is the same everywhere you eat - i.e. you choose what is suitable for your dietary/taste requirements. Food court is inside only, with limited seating. Outdoor, undercover seating should be provided as it is desperately needed. Membership fees need to be paid annually. I think these should be credited to your account if you make purchases to a certain value. Your trolley, receipt, card and items get checked on exit. The membership clause/management advises that this is to ensure you weren't overcharged. However, it appears to be more to check you haven't stolen item/s or underpaid. It is intrusive and I resent it immensely. I see it as unreasonable and an invasion of my privacy. I hate the entry - I call it the "man zone" i.e. cameras and electrical and junk that you just can't wait to get past. The staff aren't overly friendly. The chicken department refused to give me/pack me a hot chook one time until he had taken all of them out of the rotisserie (I think there were approximately 70 chooks). Costco never has xmas stock and its stuff doesn't seem to change. The store is the same year after year. It gets really boring after a while. Taste testing is painful sometimes as even though they might have some jelly belly jelly beans out already, you have to wait until the whole tray of testers if full before you can take your tester patty paper of three jelly beans (that's the rules!!!). Oh, and when they give you the frozen cream puffs (that are meant to be served at room temperature) and they haven't bothered to defrost them first - you really wish you hadn't bothered. A lot of the products we have purchased have been inedible or not to our taste. i.e. frozen Mozarella sticks, apple pastizis. Our fat labrador won't even eat their bulk pigs ears; so there must be something wrong with them!!!! The neighbours dog wouldn't touch them either. Bulk is not always better; a lot of the products we have purchased were thrown out prior to finishing i.e. 1 kg red rock honey soy chips - we got sick of them and although there was nothing wrong with them - we just had way too many at the one time. Limited variety of products/brands i.e. I like double length toilet paper - they have none. They only have a couple of varieties of toothpaste, shampoo and so on. Costco chooses what brands to sell and there seems to be no consumer input regarding this. Some of the fruit is hit and miss; bought a whole watermelon and it was perfect in colour and texture; but tasted like water. Bough some beautiful plums but they were $25 for 12 so they were no steal, but they were perfect quality. The meat is good, nothing wrong with it, but I just don't find it is cheaper. I really don't. I really like going for a squiz at Ikea and coming home with a few goodies that I will never use i.e. ice cube trays. But, I always enjoy it and find it interesting. I don't mind the food court at Ikea either and like the variety of home furnishings. However, I really don't fancy Costco. I wonder if it is better in America. read more

Let me start by saying, i love costco, the products are first rate, the warranty is fantastic, and the experience makes shopping fun. Its worth it just for the fuel discount if you drive a bit. They have a surprising amount of Aussie made and organic products, which I love. However... I went in today and had to ask of they were closing down! There are always a few stray empty boxes on the shelves, as it is always busy, but theres usually another box under the empty. Today it looks like they havent restocked in a week. The shelves are choc full of empty cartons, making it hard to get to the product. The chiller room is usually brimming with fresh fruit and veg, today half full, lots of gaps and empty box piles. Hopefully just a glitch, but it does ruin the 'experience' a bit. read more

If I could give this store ZERO stars I would!! I have a large family so have been waiting a while for this GREAT store to open.. The day comes and first of al the 3 adults in our house are not allowed a card each.. I can't go in the exit with a trolley with my VERY active toddler strapped in. So have to wrangle him while setting up an account.. DIDN'T think I'd need the stroller so left it at home. Finally get in and I'm simply dismayed at the not quite cheap enough products.. I mean REALLY.. they work out the same as the same brand in Coles/Woolies or SLIGHTLY cheaper. Certainly not worth the trip just for a slightly cheaper price and lets not forget the $60 as we entered the store.. Which may I add is double the price from USA Costco.. I FINALLY find a few relative bargains. I.e Frozen Veggies in a nice 2.5kg bag for about $12. Slightly more expensive but love the selection of Broc/Colli & 2 types of carrot.. Also Potato Gems which is a good price ($6 for 2kg).. So I finally get to the checkout and it comes to more then I expect and I get told "Are you going to pay MA'AM" in that rude condescending voice that everyone recognises so well.. I felt bullied to pay immediately and not winge.. Next visit Guess what.. Those Frozen Veggies I liked are not there and there is simply no place for them.. Staff going out the door are extra rude.. Wish there was a better option.. Too Many RULES, Let us be HUMAN and have Compassion for a mum coming in the exit to eat first with her toddler in a trolley so as to help keep you calm.. read more

Today, I visited the gas station and was appalled by the behaviour of a male employee (Paul) towards a female staff member (Karen). He was using foul language and verbally abusing her in front of customers, including my family. No one should have to endure such treatment at their workplace or anywhere else. I felt sympathy for the female employee and was ashamed of the situation. I hope she reported the incident to the authorities, as I believe it constitutes assault and is a clear case of workplace bullying. I sincerely hope that Costco, where this incident occurred, does not tolerate such behavior and takes appropriate action. It is worth noting that the female worker, with whom I have interacted in the past, has always been kind and helpful towards me. As a concerned customer, I urge for a resolution to this issue. read more

It is good for bulk buying, but gets too crowded on weekends, I will plan my visit only on week days.
