I want nominate this place for the worst in Lawrence business! 1. Terrible customer service - the managers never around and only shows up when ready to close. No one really works there, just looks at their phones. 2. Men's bathroom hasn't been cleaned since they built the building. It's scary in there - seriously! 3. I miss the geeks and it's become over priced! Sorry OD - I used to work in one in the 90s but this embarrassing now - so sad. read more

If I could get everything I need somewhere else, I would gladly take my business elsewhere. There are many things I like about Office Depot. Conversely, there are many things I dislike about this store. Likes: Selection. I think OD has a very good selection of products and a wide variety of products. I have purchased many things here over the years- from erasers to laptops, printers and scanners. I also prefer their computer tech assistance over the Geek Squad. I have had some computer work done by OD and have been pleased with the outcome. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I've never had an issue with service. The staff at the Lawrence store know me by name and that makes me feel special.The store is clean, well lit and laid out nicely. Dislikes: I think they are too pricey for starters. Like WAY pricey. I wish they gave you more options on products, as well. For example, if I want to buy some large mailing envelopes, I have to either buy one or buy 25. The 25 pack is the much better deal but, honestly, I don't need 25. I only need like 4. Just kinda smarts when you have to spend more money because of the way some items are packaged. The Office Depot reward program is a complete joke. I have been shopping there since they opened the store and have been a loyal customer. I have yet to see any "rewards" through their program. It is a complete farce and I wish they would go to a new program. On occasion I get mailed an offer for $10 off $50 spent but that is the same promotion they have in the newspaper or online. Their program is not based on how much you spend but what offer they make to the general public. Like OD but think they are expensive and their rewards program is pitiful. read more

I'd give it 3.5 stars which is what it's averaging right now if I could. As it stands... Office Depot will continue to get my business for a few simple reasons, but the most telling is that they really have no competition in Lawrence unless you count locally owned M&M supply downtown that hasn't changed much since the 70s. That latter, they simply don't have this kind of inventory nor electronics and other office gear. To find everything they have you'd have to drive all over town to a dozen other places. Sadly, that's their best attribute, inventory. I'm self-employed. So is my spouse. We both have a home office, so a definite need to stock items found here such as printer paper, label printer blanks, an occasional new office chair and everything else that comes with the territory. What I like: easy and plentiful parking, store is fairly well organized and clean. You can get in and out fairly quickly. What I don't like: getting help on the floor from someone working can be difficult or you just give up. Go in late and it gets worse. Surprise. While the boss is away... the hourly mice seem to disappear. Still, for most people just having the stock is good enough. If you can't find it in Lawrence, it might be here. Just don't expect help finding what you're looking for. read more

I bought a laptop there. Also bought service pack and McAfee. Kid told us it woukd be ready in an hour and he would call us. About 90 minutes later we went back and he tild us we shoukd wait for him to call because it really wouldn't be ready until the next day. Today at 11:30 I called and was told that they had called me and it was ready. When I get there it turns out that they set it up in my company name, not mine. I gad given them all my information but they chose not to use it. They said I had to leave it for ANOTHER 24 hours to get it straightened out. They had me write down all of my infotmation a third time. I expect to get a full refund when I go back tomorrow. These guys are totally incompetent in the tech world. read more

Best customer service! I never know where anything is and someone is always there to help me! One time I shipped some important documents and lost my shipping info and couldn't find a way to track it. I sent it using USPS at Office Depot. So I called USPS customer service to see if I could get a tracking number they said no basically my loss. I called Office Depot with hopes they could give me info and sure enough a young lady went out of her way and looked into the record book and found a copy of my tracking info. I felt so relieved. It may seem small to you but it meant a lot to me. They really care. Thank you Office Depot. read more

Takes forever to check out here because of all the upsells and promotions: do you have your rewards card? Do you want a service plan? Do you want to ... SIMPLY RING ME UP? Arrrgh. I can never find what I need and I've been told more than once I "don't want that". Really? Is that good customer service. Just because you don't have it in stock doesn't mean I don't want it. read more

Fabulous customer service! I got in and out quick with all of my items at a reasonable price.

I ordered two bookcases in the store, and received them today. One item was wrong; I had to call the 800 number to arrange for a pick-up and for delivery of the correct item. This purchase cost me, in addition to the purchase price, two days' pay because I had to take a day off work to receive delivery and another day off to receive the correct item. The store personnel were very nice; helpful, and apologetic--unfortunately, I can't purchase anything with an apology. Next time I'll purchase from Nebraska Furniture Mart. read more
