This is a small family ran restaurants that specialize in fried seafood... this is a go too when visiting this area for Hot, FRESH and SEASONED food... Pricing is very reasonable and the portions are large... If wanting to try something new, try the cajun grits... this pairs well with the fried seafood... The atmosphere is casual and they have a lovely outdoor seating area if you want some fresh air.. After dining take a stroll around the old time square to work off those extra calories.... Visited this quaint restaurant in Abbeville where there are about 12 tables inside but they also allow take out. I arrived with my family promptly at 5:01pm and the inside was already full. The hours are currently Sun/Mon/Tues (closed), Wed/Thurs 11a-8p and Fri/Sat 5p-8p. Lunch appears to only be served 11a-3p on Wed/Thurs. The parking lot has approximately 15 spaces (this is an estimate, as I didn't count) and it was already full upon arrival. We opted to park next door at the Abbeville First Bank. As it is such a small restaurant, the staff are very attentive and welcoming. The menu provides a variety of different options, even if you are not a seafood lover. I ordered the Shrimp Dinner which came with 8 large shrimp & 2 sides. I chose the steamed vegetables, which came in some sort of oily butter mix, but it would greatly benefit from some sort of seasoning. The corn on the cob was also bland but it was OK after I put some salt on it. My family also enjoyed their food as well, but the consensus was that our seafood was really good. What a meal! Every bite was delicious. I had the whole catfish, shrimp, oysters, slaw and I took a chance on the Cajun grits. OMG. So good! Others had the salmon and cod. We didn't leave a bite on our plates. Our server was warm and had a charming, bubbly personality. It's not a fancy place, but don't judge a book by Its cover. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! I'm just sad we didn't go sooner! Ten thumbs up! read more

The owners are really sweet people. They really make you feel welcome. We went there for the nachos with shrimp and some soup. The nachos are some of the best you'll ever have. Our experience was not the greatest this time. The waitress, Garianna, did not make us feel welcome at all. Almost ruined our dining experience. She also wanted to charge us $5 for sharing. The nachos were on the dry side and were a little bit dry. Not much cheese sauce. The shrimp were awesome along with the corn. When checking out, Garianna, stood over my wife while she was entering the tip and didn't even show us the bill. read more

What an incredible find!!! My grilled shrimp was cooked to perfection, the salad was so fresh and the dressing delicious. My husband had the fried flounder which was also cooked perfectly. Everything about this place was so wonderful, we ate outside because we had our toy poodle with us. They didn't mind serving us outside even though we were the only ones out there. What took me so long to eat at Off the Hook, I don't know! Now that I have I'm hooked! The flounder & catfish are both cooked to my liking, extra crispy or hard fried! The onion rings are PERFECT and I'm addicted to their slaw & hush puppies! At least once a week we either eat in or take out. It's take out only right now during the Coronavirus shutdown of restaurants except for take out. We are so thankful they are accepting take out orders. We are supporting our Abbeville Restaurants during this critical time for them. read more

My husband & I stopped on Friday evening. I ordered grilled cod & my husband had fried oysters. The food was excellent & we enjoyed it a lot. Our waitress was very nice but she was a little harried. They were busy & had quite a few take out orders so service was slow; that was the only issue of our visit. Go here! A darn nice little restaurant with great food! Our party had fried catfish, fried flounder and fried shrimp. Plenty of options for landlubbers, also. Steak, chicken, pork. Fried green tomatoes are yummy! All you can eat catfish on Thurs. Service was excellent! Drinks were refilled contantly. Even the napkin wrapped around the silverware is deluxe!
