    Lemon cupcake with cream-cheese frosting
    Pei P.

Cute place to get a cupcake and coffee but I can't say it was spectacular. One of those stiff, cute, artsy places that are more about carrying an NYC vibe than about delivering delicious, mouth-watering treats. The owner is an adorable lady with a cute pixie cut to match her cute and adorable cupcakes. The cake itself was okay, a bit on the dry side, but the frosting made up for it. It was a smooth cream-cheese frosting with just a hint of sweetness. Nothing overly sweet. Served on a paper plate. Which did not impress me at all. Coffee was also straight out of an auto machine. Nothing to write home about but sure, if you're in the mood for a treat and have some calories to spare, why not?

The servers behind the counters are not the most friendly since they are always very busy and very rushed....there are only 3-4 tables, so it's best to eat at the counter or do take-out. However, things took a turn when our server arrived. I asked if they had menus in both Spanish and English since I'm fluent in Spanish, but my boyfriend isn't, and having an English menu helps him. Instead of a simple answer, the waiter chuckled, mumbled something I couldn't understand, and placed a napkin holder with QR codes on the table, saying all menu versions were available online. Unfortunately, all the links led to the Spanish menu. While that alone wouldn't have been a major issue, his dismissive attitude was. After that, he ignored us for over 10 minutes despite my attempts to get his attention, so we eventually left. It was a disappointing way to end our time in Seville, especially considering how many fantastic restaurants in the city offer both great food and service. I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

After walking around the…read morecathedral and old town, it was time for a much needed break, because man, this town is huge! Alas, handy dandy Yelp saved the day (as it always seems to do) and directed me to this cute little pastry shop hidden between the windy streets of Sevilla. The shop is small with only 3 tables inside and some seating available outside. It's super cute too with a french aesthetic, pastel walls, and jars of pastries sitting right in the middle. We were lucky enough to snag a table at 5pm and ordered right away as I was excited to try their apple cake (recommended by Yelp) which was suprisingly an apple tart! My dad who joined me during my unofficial tea time ordered an espresso and cheesecake as well. I was very happy with the offerings, as I could say that I haven't had a better apple tart, even in France! It was flaky, not too sweet, and a downright beautiful pastry with apple folds in the middle! The cheesecake was great too with a homemade marmalade on top. The pastries blew me away and if you're looking for a nice place for a break of even a quick morning option that isn't typical to Sevilla, come here and you won't be disappointed at all!

Located within 5 minutes walking of the Alcazar it makes for an easy stop in before or after visiting the Alcazar. Everything is served on mismatched china in the courtyard of a Spanish home (cool right?). However, there is where my gushing stops. Service was very poor on a morning that wasn't busy (from the looks of it). We had to ask twice for our orders to be taken (language barrier wasn't the issue), the food was mediocre at best. NOT real churros by any means. They had a weird almost plastic taste to them and the chocolate was very watery with no flavor. The tortilla de patata was also very dry. Not rushing back by any means.

That exact situation occurred when I visited Torch Coffee Roasters. When the barista saw I was about to snap a picture, he asked me if he could redo it. I compromised. I did not get another drink because I did not want to waste the one I got. However, I agreed to take a picture of his next latte for another customer so I had a more representative example of his skills. In terms of my latte, the presentation was subpar but the substance was very good. The texture was smooth and the taste had no hint of bitterness. Torch Coffee Roasters also had the most space of the coffee shops I tried in Seville. Accordingly, definitely get the latte to stay if you are not in a rush. The latte art is excellent if you do. I usually order espresso and/or pour over whenever I go to a coffee shop. Here, I focused on espresso and had them a few different times. Had the change to try the latte as well, which was also very good. The pastries were okay, nothing special. The space itself is very inviting with lots of seating, it does get pretty loud though.

When we walked in, we noticed that they had lots of flavors, and they were all very unique. The staff was very helpful and patient in explaining all the flavors and the tags for each one had the name and the main ingredients/flavors involved.   I ended up getting the maria cookie one and forgot the name of the other flavor. They were both very creamy, not overly sweet, soft but not to the point of melting, and it was a good portion for the size. The bigger the size of the cup you order, the more flavors you can add. They also do let you sample the flavors which is nice, that way you don't end up with something you aren't pleased with. It appears they also do a good job of introducing different flavors for limited periods of time which keeps you coming back for more. If I lived closer, I would definitely be here often. The only complaint was that they don't have seating inside since it is a small space, and they also don't have tables/chairs outside. There is a playground and lots of dining areas around the corner though, which is where we went to enjoy our gelato.
