The lobby bar and music were so fun and was exactly what I loved about coming here. My husband and I stayed in the alpine suite and it was stunning from the views to the copper tub. It was so thoughtfully curated. I cant speak on the restaurant because we didnt eat there , but the bartender at the lobby bar made a delicious old fashioned! Definitely recommend for a weekend away.

It's the kind of place you want to linger in. Unfortunately, the dining room didn't quite live up to the setting. We ordered six dishes and genuinely wanted to give every benefit of the doubt, but the food felt underwhelming overall. Nearly every dish was heavily over-seasoned, with salt dominating the flavors. The pasta was overcooked and even saltier than the anchovy itself. The salad was overdressed and salty, the branzino followed the same theme, and the charred sunchokes were crusted with salt to the point of distraction . It left us wondering whether these dishes were pre-shift photo shoot plates or simply not tasting as they should in a live service setting. The creativity and intention seem to be there, but the execution missed the mark on balance. With a lighter hand and more restraint in seasoning, the food could easily match the incredible atmosphere. We'd happily return for the experience--and hope the kitchen fine-tunes the flavors to let the ingredients truly shine .

It may have been a beautiful spot in its prime, but the pictures shown on the web site are from many years ago. The house has a rotting front porch, mattresses and bedding that are in desperate need of replacement, questionable plumbing and kitchen ovens that are very dangerous. Think twice before you finalize your decision to use this facility.

It's not really a bed and breakfast, but instead an enormous house with many, many bedrooms and many, many bathrooms. The good points: There were lots of common areas on the first floor for our family to talk and eat. The outside porch was lovely to sit on in the evening. There were lots of bedrooms and lots of bathrooms. That said, I would never, ever rent this property again and you shouldn't either. Why? The house is filthy. There were mouse feces in the kitchen, in the utensils, in the beds. We saw mice and chipmunks running around the eves in the dining room. The linens were mildewy and several sets had not been changed. (How do we know? Other people's dirty laundry was in the bed). The toilets clogged and overflowed onto the carpet. Ugh. There was a pool, but it wasn't heated and there was a steep walk to get to it, making it impossible for our seniors to use. The kitchen is large, but the stove is terrifying, and probably foolish, to light. There are exposed pipes in the kitchen, the bathrooms, the bedrooms. The paint, inside and out, is peeling as is all the wall paper. The house is literally falling down with a sagging roof and rotted out porch floors and steps. There is little to no parking close to the house, again making it very difficult for seniors to access. The parking area is in a low spot, which is problematic when it rains. In it's hay day, this was probably a cool place. It has not been kept up and definitely not been cleaned. The elements and animals are winning the war of time. I'm surprised the owners are allowed to rent it out. The fire escape is rotted and several exit doors were locked. Be warned.

From start to finish it was truly a wonderful experience. Absolutely a night of classic elegance and decadent food. We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation to sit at the bar and have a pre-dinner cocktail. We each had an old fashioned, which were excellently made by the very friendly bartender. The bar area was small and intimate with small side areas with high top tables, couches and armchairs. We could have happily spent all night in this area. We were later seated in the restaurant area and had another round of drinks, an appetizer (roasted pork terrine) and two entrees (chicken Milanese and the lamb shoulder ragu). Each dish was rich and flavorful. Great food, great service, beautiful building and grounds. Easy 5 start review.

For starters we had their incredible house-made Parker house rolls with cultured butter garnished with salt and thyme. They came ripping hot out of the oven with the perfect flaky texture. These could've be served at the best steakhouses in NYC for how perfect they were. We also had the Caesar salad and ricotta and spinach dumplings. We were particularly pleased with the dumplings which were accompanied by tender baby hakurei turnips. We split the Wagyu burger with crispy, pressed fries for our entree. The burger was juicy and topped with caramelized onions and tangy thousand island sauce. Dessert was a spectacular sticky toffee pudding which was perhaps the best sticky toffee pudding we've ever had. It was generously portioned and swimming in toffee sauce. We had an awesome meal here and Shandaken Inn has quickly risen to one of our favorite restaurants in the Catskills

No mobile networks but the hotel has decent wifi. Location: This place is in the quiet, remote, and middle of the mountain. Only 8 rooms. Run by the couple. No crowd or town or tourists. Room: Queen bed, kitchen, and some utensils. The bed was comfortable. The view from the room is amazing. Night time watching stars and moon. Service: run by a couple and the expectation for this location is you want to go quiet and different place. Don't explore big hotels or motel kind of things. The owner is very welcoming and social. The couple are writers. They serve breakfast - pop-tarts and off. Evening they have wine and cocktail hours. You have a chance to meet them and other guests.
