Quality, Value I've had over a dozen tattoos in my life, and Octopi Ink was the best/most fun/comfortable experience I've had. First, after reaching out to Jo, they were extremely responsive, friendly and enthusiastic about my initial design. When I needed guidance, they helped me come up with a design that was perfect, even when I was indecisive about imagery. Jo also had a very careful touch when putting in lines and explained every step of the process (and first time clients, this is your person!). As someone with high anxiety, Jo always checked in to make sure I was comfortable. For technique, the line work was clean and the shading was perfect. ALSO! Jennie (shop co-owner) was extremely friendly and fun to be around. She had great advice, tips, and I can't wait to get a coverup from her in the future. The shop was CLEAN, cozy and I was oven offered fresh figs during the middle of my appointment. I will definitely be back for another piece. I've had tattoos from toxic, problematic men in the past, and this shop is the antithesis of people like that. Thank you so much Octopi Ink! I look forward to returning soon :) read more

My first two sessions with Dawn Mendez went by easy enough. Except the first one was a little rough due to the fact that she told me she had numbing cream; but didn't. I ended up ordering my own to use for our other sessions. At the time i shrugged it off but in retrospect i feel our first session was unnecessarily painful due to her lying to me. Our third session was a different story. She cancelled on me the day of the appointment four times in a row. I was annoyed but let it slide because i knew she was a new artists and was probably still learning how to manage her schedule. For my fourth appointment she rescheduled me the day of 5? 6? 7? I'm honestly not sure anymore. It was enough times for me to have decided to go to another artist. I still wanted her to finish the current piece. However I have more pieces i WAS going to get from her.....but didn't want to have to wait 5+ years. For my fourth and final session i saw Dawn; was a disaster. It was supposed to be 3 hours long but she ended it after 40 minutes because she had brought her boyfriend with her to work and he needed a ride home. Mind you he didn't come up and ask for a ride home; she just suddenly announced it. Why couldn't he just call an uber????? Why did she have to end her session early to give him a ride home? I have to say the entire thing felt like an excuse to end the appointment early because she wanted to go home and have sex with her boyfriend. Instead of; you know, doing her F*cking job. She told me to come back the following evening to finish the remaining 2 1/2 hours. She cancelled on me the morning of because her boyfriend locked himself out of his house and she had to help him. Dawn Mendez is a talented artist but very obviously cares more about her social life (and sex life) than the integrity of her work. I would very very VERY strongly suggest not getting a tattoo from this woman and going somewhere else. She is rude and incredibly unprofessional. read more

Great shop, great artists, everything I've seen coming out of this shop is quality work and their rates are excellent. I live in Washougal and feel extremely lucky to have found a place I'm so happy with close to me but I'd drive a couple hours easy if need be! read more

Dawn Mendez unfortunately messed up my hand and wrist tattoo very badly. I went in for a black-out pattern with a black and grey gradient. The black out pattern looked good and she was very quick. The gradient is where it took a turn for the worst. The black to grey gradient has a huge line between the black and the grey rather than a clean gradient. The grey shading abruptly stops in my wrist instead of fading nicely into my skin tone. Dawn used actual grey ink instead of only diluted black ink to do the tattoo which I've never seen this technique done before and turn out good. I should've left when I saw her pour the grey ink but I was hopeful in her since she said she's 3 year's professional and the shop owner. There are patches in the shading where there's no ink, and patches where it's over inked. Dawn abruptly stopped during the shading and said we were all done. I was surprised because it looked half finished. She was saying "your wrist is super swollen and red. It can't be tattooed anymore" I don't know how true that is because yes it was obviously being tattooed but I had no pain and could handle more. I just took her word for it. Dawn said "you'll see the shading look better once it heals. At our next appointment we'll do a touch up cause the color can fall out easily on the wrist". I was like "next appointment?!" In my head. I was not expecting having to come back. I wanted to have my tattoo finished and looking good that night, not have to have something ugly for a few weeks and come back again. I have a feeling Dawn stopped abruptly because she realized the tattoo was failing, the shading was not looking good- very patchy and you could see the tattoo gun strokes, and no blend. She charged me $100 co-pay, $150 for the tattoo, and I gave her a $50 tip. I just was in shock and left, but I should've stood up for myself that night but that is on me. The healing process was not any better. Once the tattoo begun to peal, parts of the grey ink fell out and there are even more patches. The tattoo looks terrible and I hate looking at it. I'm getting it fixed by another artist I trust. I asked Dawn if she offers refunds but she said no. Dawn used a few excuses for the bad tattoo like "it's hard to copy another persons tattoo" and "it's hard to tattoo the wrist". I never had Dawn copy anyone's tattoo, but I did ask her to use an inspiration picture which I will post. Dawn offered to fix it but I can't trust her to fix it if she considers the wrist a hard spot to tattoo. If the wrist is hard for her, she shouldn't have agreed to the tattoo in the first place. I hope she can reflect and agree she messed up, and she made mistakes, rather than make excuses. I accept the no refund because I did leave that night and pay which was on me, but I'm just very disappointed with how this all went about. Hopefully I can have it looking well after having it fixed by someone else and still be able to recommend Dawn for some of the redeeming qualities of the tattoo. read more
