It went fine for me .. no complaints :) tip: the place is cold and after ur blood is done pumping…read morein machine , you'll feel super super cold because of the saline going back into body! So take a small blanky or sweater etc First timer today. Walked in , worker said he'll be right with me and he was . Checked in, waited in waiting room(15min) or so not bad since not a lot are working but it ran smoothly . They checked my vitals, logged in fingerprint to use to agree to things on computer , poked my finger for blood sample to test if it's good to go.. then it's time to answer 100 questions on a computer .. then back to waiting room .. was called in shortly after by nurse .. she went over questions I accidentally answered wrong lol I was confused on answering the computer questions so read carefully . . You'll be asked description of tattooes/location and year u got them .. also with piercings . Cannot leave any out or else you'll be disqualified.. Nurse will do a quick physical on your body.. then go over some details like who referred you etc .. after you'll be taken to the line to wait for a bed . You'll only be picked once . They'll take a blood sample , then then hook u up to the computer to start. It's such a wierd feeling! Super nervous the whole time . You'll feel your lips wierd also like light weight or idk how to explain , was just wierd . That'll go away after a few minutes . Throughout the whole thing you'll need to fist your hand ( the computer will tell u when to do so) .

I am filing this complaint against BioLife Plasma Services after two extremely negative and unsafe…read moreexperiences at one of their donation centers. On my first visit, I was kept waiting for four full hours before being taken back. After the donation process was finished, staff left me connected to the machine for an additional 30 minutes with no explanation or assistance. My second visit was worse. The staff member inserted the needle far too deeply, causing a severe and painful bruise that lasted for days. The machine then stopped three separate times and had to be reset multiple times. After the procedure was finally complete, I was again left stuck on the machine for another 30 minutes while staff stood around talking about their weekends and fumbling with equipment, showing no concern for my situation. The center appears severely understaffed, and the employees present seemed untrained and completely uninterested in donor comfort or safety. After these experiences, I received a promotional offer for $150. When I attempted to redeem it, I was told I was ineligible. It is clear that BioLife sends out these unclaimable offers regularly to lure donors back in, which feels deceptive and misleading. These incidents have left me concerned about the safety and quality of care at BioLife. Improper needle insertion, repeated equipment failures, long periods of being left unattended while connected to machines, and untrained staff are serious issues. I strongly advise anyone considering plasma donation to go elsewhere.

Small blood drive area upstairs, a steady stream of people but only a couple of us at a time. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I did the fast-pass thing online and that does save some time, but there are still a lot of questions here, plus blood pressure, etc. Did the power red for the first time. A little slower than a regular donation, because it pulls blood out and separates it, then rehydrates you. So maybe helps recovery time. Still sat and had a snack afterwards, just in case. If you are able, this is a simple, easy thing to do that helps a lot of people. Plus you get a snack, and usually a gift like a t-shirt, gift card, etc. I do it because my dad did, and then after 9/11 it felt like my duty to help. Plus blood drives at work meant an hour break!

In that…read moretime I have had the opportunity to honor First Responders, Veterans, and Volunteers through the 2018 Heroes Gala. We honored outstanding people who went above and beyond to help their community in their chosen field. One of the most fun events I participated in was the Sound the Alarm program in which we tested and replaced smoke detectors throughout the Greater Columbus area. This was a great opportunity to volunteer in a small group, meet amazing people, make new friends, and help to make sure our neighbors were protected and had plans to evacuate their home in case of a fire. I am currently working with the Recruitment Team to bring awareness to the various opportunities the Red Cross has to help alleviate human suffering. Whether it is by volunteering as a Blood Donor Ambassador, working at Blood Drives, or volunteering to drive in our Blood Transportation area, it allows people to be a part of helping to save countless lives. There are also opportunities in Disaster Response and Relief to help be the best part of a person's worst day. From major natural disasters to a home fire in the middle of the night, these dedicated volunteers are always ready to respond. I am honored to play a part in recruiting new volunteers and seeing them flourish and gain a sense of satisfaction by helping. The American Red Cross of Greater Columbus is an amazing organization and I am so glad that I began to volunteer and know that I will continue to volunteer for many years to come.

My recent trip to the ER came after a severe seizure (no idea why) which caused me to fall out of the shower, shattering a glass door. The squad took me to the ER. I was dehydrated in part do to medication side effects and not drinking water for some hours. They needed a urine sample and I was not able to urinate They started an IV of fluids and I suggested drinking water as well. (they said no that's not necessary) After an hour they decided to bring water for me to drink. They decided on using a catheter and I refused. No discomfort and I was very dehydrated. They insisted and I said no. 15-20mns later a new nurse walked in holding a catheter device and I said no.... .. I woke up at 2am because a group of nurses were talking and laughing really loud. I finally yelled "SHUT UP!" they stopped and they woke me up at 5am yelling and laughing. I called for a nurse who told me it was " too awkward to deal with this because they are my colleagues" The next morning I was asked again to do the catheter. Before noon I was able to fill the urinal with 20oz and did so 4 more times that day. I'm fine and they never did determine the cause of the tremors. I've heard numerous bad experiences from others who went to St. Ann's and won't return.
