I wish I could give it a lower rating. I had an appointment at 1pm as a new donor. I even called before I arrived to make sure that I would be seen. After an hour drive to the High St. location, I was told that no new donors would be seen the rest of the day. I immediately drove to Bio Life and was accommodated without an appointment. What could you improve..? First, start by talking to donors like human beings, instead of people that are interrupting your important conversation with your co-worker that had nothing to do with a donor or plasma in any way. Next..,,? Maybe start telling donors, VERBALLY, what they are getting paid before you drain them of life blood. I suggest this because I made a donation a little over a week ago on Saturday, Nov. 30th. I saw that my next donation was going to be worth $65, I inquired when I had to donate so the payment didn't drop. I could really use the money this holiday. My tech said I would get the $65 as long as I donated on or before the coming Friday the 5th of Dec., which lets be honest isn't the easiest thing to do when you have a family member with cancer who depends on you for rides, meals, and dealing with car insurance because someone slams into your car while it's parked in front of your house. I know... Wah wah wah poor me! I get it, we all got problems. Anyway... I didn't make it in before Friday the 5th. I thought "no big deal... I'll just go twice next week!" I went in Sun. The 8th, got my $45, confirmed with my tech the $65 payment I was looking forward to coming up on my next visit that week. He said "Make sure you're back in before this coming Friday!" Me: "Trust! I'll be here before then! Thanks!" I then went back in to donate the following Wednesday. Got my vitals done, sat down to donate, got my body drained, and then the tech took out the IV, and said "You can come back on the 15th" I started to get up to leave, but stopped me and he asked if I heard what he quoted as my payment... I said "no I didn't hear you, I'm pretty sure I already know what it is... But go ahead and tell me." He asked if I had the app, and if I could check it there because he forgot what it was..?! I was confused, but just shrugged it off because it was supposed to be $65, and I saw no reason to think otherwise. I took a seat, I was waiting on a friend I referred. I then thought twice about what the tech said. I checked my app for the payment, and found I had only been paid $50! I went to the front desk and waited behind two new donors being ignored by the portly, dirty blonde lady with glasses sitting behind the desk. I think there may have been some cheap dye in her hair too, I don't remember exactly, but I think so... Also I'm no looker. I'm not fat, or hair color preference shaming. Just her failure to be good at her job shaming. I've got acne, and a beer belly. I ain't all that. Anyway, that's besides the point. When she did finally did have time to listen my questions she seemed put upon to do so, like she couldn't be bothered. I asked about the discrepancy in my payment, she pointed to a teeny tiny sign on the beverage station(that had no beverages on it, only some Styrofoam cups haphazardly placed on the table that she would direct people to fill up at the water fountain.) and said "We're paying by weight now... Sorry!" And promptly turned back to her coworker to continue her important conversation that had nothing to do with donors or the plasma we don't like feeling cheated out of. I was less than happy to say the least. It's... what..? 15 days to Christmas?! Most of the people donating, aren't only doing it out of the kindness of their hearts, even though it is nice to know you're in some way benefitting another human being, maybe even saving a life! Who knows!? Last rant I promise, I can't say whether or not this is true, but I overheard a tech, donating their lifeblood, talking to a regular donor once when I was standing in line. He asked them what they get paid. They replied $80 a visit... I rolled my eyes inconspicuously, and went on waiting... My wonder is this... Did they get a decrease in pay due to their weight like we did? Certainly not her anyway. I'm willing to bet the $15 dollars they stiffed me on that particular day that if she did... She would be or at least ACT more sympathetic to our annoying donor @$$3$. That's all, oh, I went to big bird (Giant Eagle) walked around while crying and bought a 12 pack of Bhodi. There are many people in the community that would gladly donate plasma, but won't deal with these conditions. I myself stopped donating for years because of them. Today, it was a 4 hour wait for new donors. The wait was 2 hours for established donors. This is ridiculous. After standing at a Kiosk, donors are directed to a line to wait for a technician to take vitals and weigh donors. Then, they are directed into another line to stand before actually being put on a bed to donate. So basically, donors are standing for hours before they can donate. This is not acceptable. Management should be doing a far better job at staffing appropriately, so these wait times don't continue. This is why I stopped donating previously despite my having a sincere wish to help the recipients of the products produced. CSL Plasma needs to do better. read more

i would give 0 stars if i could lmao they permanently deferred me because they denied me the right to donate unless i showed them multiple discharge papers of something that happened months ago, i was being prescribed medication that i didn't take and it was on the discharge papers so they thought i was lying about the medication. but god forbid someone shoot up heroine two minutes before walking in the building and they're all good to go. my fault for not taking the meds and being honest about the fact i wasn't fucking taking them. fuck this place. read more

The staff here for the most part are wonderful. They seem to really care. However, there is one nurse Alissa that I find to be incredibly condescending. It seems to be how she speaks to most people there. Recently I went in and was told that I had to see a nurse based on how I answered one question. I figured that since I was rushed I must have pressed the wrong button. She addresses the issue but goes on to tell me that I have to provide a Drs note in order to donate since one of my eyes was extremely red. I had previously went to the urgent care and was released for work by an actual physician. However she made this judgement without any examination. Since I know that I am not contagious and do not take any medications I found this to be ridiculous. She went on to say that I had to provide a Drs note with any medications and my diagnosis in order to continue to donate. I found this to be an extreme violation of my privacy. How does a nurse without actually examining the eye draw such a conclusion? Arrogance is my only answer. She doesn't have the medical knowledge to surpass the judgement of my physician. For my own peace of mind I have seen an optometrist as well that stated my ducts were clogged but was also puzzled as to how she made this assessment especially without any examination. Donors that come to this center are just as competent as any other mature adult. After seeing a Dr I find it infuriating that this inexperienced nurse thinks she is more competent that a physician. Although I like the staff, I won't be returning. My personal health information is my own. Furthermore I have experience in plasma collection myself. My advice is to form your own opinion. If you don't like the treatment speak up. I enjoy the staff and will miss them but I stand on principal and can donate at another center. read more
