The reason for two stars is because of how poorly managed and understaffed this place is. -There's always only one person taking blood samples and checking your vitals. The line can get backed up fairly quick because the process takes around 5-10 minutes per person. -They schedule way too many appointments for the amount of staff they have available. Some of the busiest points of the day will only have half of the chairs open due to this. -You most likely will be in here for almost 2 hours minimum, depending what time you go. I've never been in here shorter than that amount of time unless I go before the work rush in the late afternoon. It's not a bad place, and I have no complaints about any workers. Realistically they desperately need more help with staffing.

I have been to the 2 plasma donation centers in Champaign-Urbana. Here and Grifols. They both…read moresuck. I needed some extra money. They both pay the same amount: Grifols pays $150 for the first two sessions. Then $130/week for 2 donations. KEDPlasma pays $100 for the first 6 sessions, then $130/week, also for 2 donations. The problems are complicated. First of all, donating a liter or so of plasma TOTALLY wipes you out. You get home ok, but that next 6 or 8 hours leaves you feeling weak and dizzy. So much so that you cannot ride a bike home. Even walking to a bus stop feels really hard. The next day you are back to normal, but the first few hours after donating are dicey. Second, the phlebotamists are totally a crap shoot. Some of them are great. Others suck. The last time I donated the phlebotamist did a terrible job ---- it hurt like hell to get the needle in, and then after the first 25% of the donation, the needle seems to have slipped and the machine stalled. So they shifted to the other arm and the same thing happened. Now if I wanted to donated again, I'd have to wait 60 days. I am never going back. It is just not worth it. in terms of the staff, some of them are very nice. Others are downright surly. It is useful if you are in a pinch for money, but on the whole? Not worth it.

Filled in all the online info needed and brought the rest of required stuff for my first donation. Once you're there, all you have to do is fill out a questionnaire and get checked in. Within minutes, a nurse will bring you around to check your iron level and then you'll proceed to the back for the draw. Blood donations take about 5 minutes, my trips there are in and out under 20 minutes usually. There are snacks and drinks along with a free shirt per visit. Overall experience and care towards donators have been awesome; highly recommend this place for blood & plasma donations.

One location on Belair Rd had just the front desk person. When I spoke with the area supervisor she also had an attitude. These are the only people who require a credit card even after providing your insurance information. This is a prime example of the Affordable Health Care Act. What a fiasco! I had a unique experience of frostbite before I left on a trip to Macon, GA from Cincinnati. We…read morehad -15 degree weather and I was taking our trash and recyclables and slipped on ice. I grabbed the aluminum bar with bare hands to pull up but my shoulder was hurting and held on too long. I had a business trip to Macon as a Global Market Manager and went on the trip. I noticed in Atlanta my fingers were very swollen and turning purple. I knew I had to go to the emergency room or things could get worse. I went to Atrium in Warmers Robbins and they told me I need to go to Doctors in Augusta. They set everything up and I arrived and had surgery the next day by Dr. Homesombath. The nurses and care was beyond excellent. Dr. Homesombath save my fingers. They are beautiful now. I am a guitar player and needed my fingers. Thank you to everyone for such beautiful care. Mel

This place is terrible. Currently waiting for tje bed alarm to be turned off and its been over 30…read moreminutes. I asked for assistance to get up to use the restroom, coold no longer wait. Got up and was in the bathroom for at least 15 minutes. Alarm still going off and no one helped me! I called the nurse's station again to ask for someone to turn it off ans they still haven't come. They need to hire more help. Haven't seen a cna or nurse in over 3 hours. My family has helped me as much as they could today but they had to leave. Care is terrible. I can hear the staff at the nurses station laughing and yet thr bed alarm is still going off. I feel sorry for the people who can't talk or have no family. Skin issues have to be a problem here and getting any type of assistance seems impossible
