Best idea ever! My mother in law turned 87 today, and I wanted to get her some kind of nice gift…read more However, she is tough. She doesn't want/have room for any more trinkets or crap cluttering up her room. So I knew it needed to be something consumable. She never leaves the house except to doctor appointments, so taking her out somewhere or getting a new outfit is not useful. She has no appetite, so food/treat gifts are not great. The distant relatives already send her flowers. And she already has lots of photos on her walls.
So at the last minute I googled mobile nails and found Lucia, who answered the phone immediately and was so kind that she moved around another client to accomondate my last-minute birthday girl request for the next morning. (I called the previous evening, so there was no proper notice at all really ) That was huge, and I really appreciated it.
We had a little party in her bedroom to include the bday girl, me, my daughter, and her partner. Lucia came with her sister. We received a variety of services to include regular manicures, gel manicures, and foot bath pedicures. Lucia and her sister were completely accomondating and did not require anything they did not bring with them other than hot water. Did not even want chairs...
Lucia has a terrific personality and speaks very clearly. The conversation was 1000 times better and more enjoyable than I've ever had at a nail salon. Plus, doing it at home was insanely different... not just ultimately convenient but also intimate, comfortable, and really SO MUCH more enjoyable of an experience all the way around. So what started off as a creative solution to a problem ended up being a new understanding of how nail appointments in general should be structured. Kinda like how Covid taught people new ways of doing things that seemed unusual at first, but once they tried it, they realized it was a superior way to live.
I have been gardening and cleaning and all around destroying my nails lately, and so my nails were in really horrible shape. Another thing that impressed me was that I had automatically asked for a gel french manicure because that's all I ever get when I decide to have nice nails. But Lucia told me they were pretty thin right now, and she recommended I just do a regular manicure to temporarily enjoy until they improved. For those of you who aren't familiar, gel costs more & french costs more... so she double-DOWN-sold me (as opposed to keeping me the same or up-selling me), and that impressed me. It told me she is in it as a professional with an eye tward long-term relationships. I appreciate intelligent, ethical, honest people who keep it real.
Another thing is I booked a couple of different services other than what my family ended up wanting and that did not ruffle Lucia's feathers in the least, totally went with the flow with a great attitude, which I loved and once again, very much appreciated.
Lastly, one person wanted black polish, one wanted French, one pale pink, and I wanted aqua, and they brought a good variety of colors to include all of our varied colors. None of us made any concessions or sacrifices, which did surprise me.
So if it isn't perfectly clear by now, lol, I highly recommend this business. No matter if you are young or 87 years old... No matter if it's a special occasion, a housebound senior, or just a regular service... and shhhhhh, don't tell her I said this, but even if you are a last-minute planner and think it's too late... Highly recommend.
