What an easy, stress free experience! Scott (owner) came out to the house, right on time I might add, and quoted the job after seeing our existing system and hearing our needs. Made me and my wife feel at ease by his extensive knowledge of the trade, while explaining the process. We had a complete furnace replacement as well as new ac unit outside. Both of our existing units were on borrowed time. The job was scheduled and equipment installed without a hitch. The Oceanside crew worked hard for 2 days and left the property just as they found it. Very clean. Would recommend Oceanside over and over again. Long time local business and they certainly proved why!! read more

Oceanside Service inc. installed a costly Daikin Inverter system with heat pump and four zone Honeywell motorized zoning system in my home in 2018. They represented that they were a distributor for Daikin and knowledgable about Daikin and zoning products. They didn't know what they were doing when they installed the system and it has taken four years to actually get the system to work correctly. The ductwork they installed had to be completely reworked and extended as they did not understand the nature of static pressure in a multi-zone system. There is only one service manager, Pat, who understands the system and he was only recently on September 2, 2022, able to finally calibrate all the intricate parts and get it all to work correctly. Over the years, I paid for service calls which did not correct my complaints and I was repeatedly told that I was imagining the issues. The coup de grace was that I just found out (4-1/4 years later) that Oceanside never applied for the seven year extended warranty over the five year equipment warranty from Daikin. The seven year warranty had to be applied for by the installer within 60 days of installation. The experience from beginning to the end has been completely miserable and unprofessional. I was finally able to locate another reputable HVAC company to maintain my systems. Please be careful when dealing with Oceanside and get everything in writing. The owner, Scott Nelson, does not honor the company's commitments and has no integrity. Our heat was not working and it was getting very cold in the house, so we called the first company we saw. What a mistake. Absolute ripoff. $300 to replace the flame sensor PLUS 135 for the diagnosis which was not waived. They then told us we needed a new furnace. They gave us a quote of $4300 for a cheap brand furnace. I then found out my brother in law's Uncle owns his own HVAC business. I had him come over and he tweaked a couple things and said, the furnace is fine you don't need a new one. Oceanside are complete liars trying to take your money. Do not use them under any circumstances. read more

They installed ductwork and a CAC system in our home in 2018. The experience was super unpleasant. It seemed as if the techs they hired for our job were completely inexperienced. Once the install was completed we had a different issue every day for months. Our requests for help were often ignored. We called the office, and we reached out to the owner, Scott and/or his brother Tyler, via email. At one point the owner chastised me for reaching out to him via email, however when I called the office, the women who answered actually said, "This is an air conditioner, not a refrigerator." Another time when I spoke with the same woman she said that Scott was doing the scheduling, and I'd need to speak with him. The entire process was beyond frustrating. I resented being thought of as a pain in the butt. I wouldn't have had to complain so much if the system worked! One of the many, many, many issues was that they did not insulate the ducts, so the condensation leaked and destroyed our brand new ceiling, and dripped down a wall. (Oceanside did fix that issue and pay for the ceiling repair.) Here's our timeline for reference. Scott came out and pitched us and sent his proposal the third week of May. A week later we accepted the proposal. They didn't "finish" the install until the end of July. That's when we had a different issue almost every day for the next few months. We finally had (almost) all of the kinks worked out at the beginning of October. Totally unacceptable. The only good thing about Oceanside was a man named Pat. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive to our problems. To be clear, unless Pat owns the company, I'd rather use a hand held fan for the rest of my life than ever let Oceanside install another system. read more

I have used Oceanside in a home we rented in Long Branch and now in our new home in Bradley Beach. They have responded for heating and cooling issues. They come when they say. As a single woman it is often difficult to gain the courage to work with vendors inside a private residence because of the stigma that women will be taken advantage of by contractors. I did my research and choose Oceanside because they were listed as a preferred vendor with the company that manages my condo building, The Presidental in Asbury Park and personal recommendations. Unfortunately no one who recommended them realized the turmoil that was going on in their family business and they could not have predicted the terrible treatment I then received as a customer. The service technician was a gentleman. He came out did the assessment right before the Christmas holiday, took a cash payment and noted the extra $10 taken to be applied to a later bill as he did not have change. He stated verbally that the job would run me about $500-$600 but the office would give me an official quote once they sent out the motor. I was called to schedule the appointment about two weeks later. The woman who scheduled the appointment did not provide me with a quote. I should have remember, that what he told me on the appointment was "not official" and asked about the quote. I also didn't think it was unreasonable to expect a business to act appropriately without being reminded too. The technician showed up to the appointment and started with an apology. He stated he knew the office didn't call with a quote and the part was a lot more then anyone expected. The part was over $900 so the service all together was $1200. This was in addition to the $200 I gave them for the assessment. I said that was a lot more money they we had initially discussed and asked him what I could do. He apologized but said since I took the last appointment for the day no one was available in the office. I asked about the motor he took from my home on his prior visit and he stated "that was long gone". I had left work early, had no heat in the middle of winter and had trusted Oceanside. I felt like I had no choice. I stated to the technician, " I guess I have no choice." He installed the new $900 motor. I gave him my credit card number since I was not prepared for the cost. The very next morning called the office to try to understand what had happened and why the bill was double what was represented to me. I was told Scott Nelson, the Owner, doesn't deal with clients anymore but his son Scotty does. I called multiple times to get a return phone call from Scotty. I explained what happened. He apologized and explained their had been a family issue. His uncle had left the business and the office was having trouble. He told me he would talk to his Dad and get back to me. He reassured me that this was not how they conducted business. I called to follow up and never received a return phone call. The ladies who answered the phone were polite and explained that Scotty's worked on jobs a lot since their company was so busy. I then received a bill in the mail stating I was delinquent. I didn't understand since at the time of service I provided a credit card number and I had been trying to deal with the owner in regard to the bill. I called again twice trying to reach Scott Nelson. My called was returned by Scotty who told me, "My Dad isn't going to do anything for you." I explained again the bad service, his admission of office trouble and that they were making money off me when they did the wrong thing. Scotty told me it cost them money to pay their technicians. I told him I was extremely disappointed in the service, how he treated me personally and the fact that Oceanside took advantage of a single woman trying to get work done on her condo. I also asked him to send me a corrected bill that represented the cash credit for the over payment made on the initial assessment. Scott Nelson has never contacted me. Scott Nelson and Oceanside take advantage of single women. They represent the stereotype of vendors who prey on innocent women who don't have experience on dealing with contractors. I caution anyone with dealing with them and ask those of you with experience still not patronize their business because of their unethical business practices. read more

Called for a service on my furnace. Showed up on time, checked the furance told me what parts I needed would only cost me a couple of hundred bucks. 250.00? Charged me 130.00 to diagnose the problem which DOES NOT COME OF THE BILL. Waited a week before I called them to find out where part was. Only to be told with parts and labor the job would be 798.00 in addition to the 130.00 all in 1028.00 !!!!!!! looked parts up online 190.00. It's difficult to know where to begin about how great this company is. First and foremost, their administrative staff is top notch. Courteous, prompt and thorough- they'll make sure you're booked in asap and have a short window of time to wait for someone to come out. When it comes to service techs, I have my clear favorite- Jay, but that's because he was so thorough and awesome on his first visit that I haven't had anyone else out. I'd live for a week without heat if that's the only time I could have him come out. The price is right, the service is quality and the staff is nothing short of supportive. Scott, I wanted to say thank you, for our 2 newly installed Oceanside mini split AC units. Ironically they have helped out more with supporting our heat, this rainy and chilly Spring, than our AC. But during the holiday weekend, the air conditioning was great, quiet, efficient, awesome! I had a defective tankless water heater that needed to be replaced because it was leaking gas. Oceanside installed the original system and being that I'm the new owner I called them. The heater was under warranty and would be replaced. I asked about the cost and was told I'd pay only labor, depending on how long the job would take (whether the footprint of the new heater was similar to the old one, etc). It took 2 guys approx. 4 hours to install the new heater. My labor costs $1898! I called Oceanside twice to discuss this exorbitant labor only fee and was told that it's a per job rate, they would have to put the money out front for the heater and that I'm paying for their expertise. They apologized for not telling me ahead of time about the cost but that's their price to install the heater. The new heater was not installed correctly so I still did not have heat and they had to come back to finally get it working correctly. I did email the owner and communicated the negative experience I had, but I never heard back from him. I cannot recommend Oceanside going forward for 1. They did not communicate the actual cost to me prior to the job being done even though I asked. 2. They didn't install the unit correctly, even though I pointed out it was not working when they left. 3. When I did call I got a flippant response and when I emailed the owner I did not get a response at all. 4. The cost of $1898 was above industry standards. read more
