My husband and I had just started our vacation when, during lunch, the veneer on a front tooth unexpectedly popped off. Needless to say, I was a little stressed. I called 1st City Dental, and they were able to get me in right away. From the moment I arrived, the entire experience was exceptional. The front office staff was welcoming, efficient, and had me checked in quickly. The hygienist was incredibly kind, professional, and attentive in taking the x-rays. After performing a thorough examination, Dr. Davis was able to successfully reattach my veneer. She also identified an area that should be evaluated further by my dentist back home, which I greatly appreciated. Rather than simply addressing the immediate issue, she took the time to provide a comprehensive assessment and ensure I understood her recommendations. What impressed me most was Dr. Davis's demeanor, attention to detail, and genuine concern for my comfort and care. Having dealt with my share of dental issues over the years, I have worked with many dental professionals, and Dr. Davis stands out among the best. If I lived in St. Augustine, I would gladly make Dr. Davis my primary dentist. I am incredibly grateful to her and the entire team at 1st City Dental for turning what could have put a major damper on my vacation into a remarkably positive experience. Thank you Dr. Davis and1st City Dental!

I had been experiencing jaw and tooth pain on a stay to our family retreat in St. Augustine (…read morebummer right?) I waited to see if the pain would subside, but it continued, so I googled dentists and found Dr. Daniel Haeussner on Yelp. Called and talked to Kara, who was so kind a welcoming and they fit me in the same day to see what was going on. Everything from their lovely office, to their friendly staff, to their service was top notch. Kim, my dental assistant, quickly put me at ease and assured we'd address what the issue is as she took X-rays and made me comfortable. Dr. Haeussner came in and let me know everything looked good in the X-ray. He asked if I had been stressed lately (who hasn't!? But my job has been very stressful lately) and thought I may be grinding my teeth. He asked if I had also been experiencing headaches, which last week I had terrible headaches, so much so I got a Covid test just to be sure! He did a bite test, and even when I thought there is no way this pain is coming from grinding, he was sweet and did another one just to ease my concerns. He recommended a warm compress and anti-inflammatory. I could not believe this was causing this sort of pain, so I was so relieved to hear the news! I thought for sure I needed emergency filling or root canal. My dad is a dentist in Michigan and so this was my first experience outside of family. Dr. Haeussner assured me there were no major concerns and I appreciated his honest, sincere compassion with the situation. Funny enough, we laughed how my dad is also named Daniel, and I saw the Dr. Dan of St. Augustine. Anyone who is looking for a dentist, look no further! And this is coming from the daughter of a dentist. Thank you Kara, Kim and Dr. Haeussner for taking care of me while I was away!

My husband and I have been patients of this practice for approximately 10 and 12 years,…read morerespectively. At one time, this office truly felt like family. I knew the doctor and his family personally as they used to visit and sit at a restaurant I worked at years ago. We regularly recommended the practice to friends and family because of the excellent care and personal touch. As the practice has grown, that family feeling has disappeared. What once felt patient-focused now feels much more impersonal. There have been several concerns over the past few years. While a payment issue we experienced was ultimately resolved, it was still disappointing. More recently, my husband has repeatedly had negative experiences with his hygienist. We typically schedule our appointments together and are on the same cleaning and X-ray schedule, yet his appointments consistently take significantly longer. He has often felt that much of his appointment time is spent being lectured rather than receiving treatment. At his most recent visit, the office was already running behind due to an employee meeting. My husband had an important work commitment afterward and informed the hygienist at the start of the appointment that he needed to leave by a specific time. Despite reminding her of his time constraints during the visit, the appointment continued to run long. Ultimately, he had to leave before the doctor was able to come in. Rather than reaching out to hear his perspective after nearly a decade as a patient, the practice chose to dismiss him from the office altogether. That decision was surprising and disappointing. What makes this especially sad is that we spent years enthusiastically referring people to this practice because of the positive experiences we once had. Growth is a wonderful thing, but somewhere along the way, the personal care and loyalty to long-term patients that made this office special seem to have been lost.

Actually, we never kept our appts. They could be excellent dentists for all we know. They're busy,…read moreso we had to wait a relatively long time for an appt. No biggie, really. But probably the deal breaker was that for a routine check up after the dental part of the appt. we would've had to wait SIX MONTHS for a cleaning. We've NEVER run into this kind of arrangement in our collective 140 year experience. One explanation, we thought, was that they couldn't hire or retain enough dental hygienists. And why is that? Are there not enough dental hygienists in St. Augustine, or does the practice not pay them enough or otherwise provide a miserable working experience? Who knows, and really we don't care. We are tired with tolerating drama anywhere for whatever reason, so we're going back to our "old" dentist in Orlando. We got two appts. about 10 days out from contacting them. The appt. includes a cleaning.

I called Alexander Dental and explained the situation. Dr. Alexander explained they had a digital scanner that could scan the surface of the tooth area and upload the file for a the tooth to be made and this would greatly decrease the time between the first visit and the second visit so it could all be done while i was in Florida. True to his word he was able to scan the tooth on Thursday and by the following Wednesday, just two days before Christmas I had the the new tooth and a cleaning. His office staff (lead by his his lovely and attractive wife) were very helpful and friendly. Dr Alexander was attentive even though he was very busy (everyone getting perfect teeth for their Christmas photos i guess) and made sure I understood exactly what was going on and answered all my questions. The office is modern and professional and I couldn't have been happier. He is also a former marine and since my son is in the Navy that doesn't hurt. I would definitely recommend Alexander Dental.
