Dr. Mendrinos while working on my teeth, with her grinding tool twice injured my lower lip. This happened while she was pulling the hand of her assistant to locate the suction tool in the right place in the mouth. There was no dental hygienist in the office for at least 5 years, therefore, there was no comprehensive examination/cleaning on my teeth. On her guard, I lost 4 of my teeth as a result of not having a Hygienist to perform a comprehensive exam. On every visit, I was never provided with a statement to indicate work performed on my teeth and the charges for the visit.

Konikoff Family Dentistry assured me they could help and got me in the next day. I was relieved. What followed felt less like patient care and more like a bait-and-switch. After X-rays, I was told they couldn't actually treat the problem and that I would need to see their specialist -- with an appointment scheduled a MONTH later. A month. For a cracked wisdom tooth causing significant pain. But somehow, despite being unable to address the urgent issue I came in for, there was still time to discuss teeth whitening treatments and tell me I supposedly had multiple cavities that would require extensive work. I left, found another dentist the very next day, had the wisdom tooth removed immediately, and was told there were no cavities or other issues. I understand referrals happen. Specialists exist for a reason. What I do not understand is bringing in a patient in acute pain, failing to meaningfully help them, then pivoting to cosmetic upsells and questionable diagnoses while they're sitting there suffering. If your office cannot provide emergency treatment, be honest about that upfront. Don't tell people in pain you can help, only to turn the visit into a sales opportunity. I would strongly encourage anyone seeking urgent dental care to get a second opinion.

I went in for a routine cleaning and told them that I was experiencing some discomfort and one of the crowns that I had done a year prior to, and Dr Mollie listen to what I had to say and could've easily told me I needed an expensive root canal or other dental procedure to repair, however, she diagnosed my issues and it was simply something small that she was able to take care of right then right there. I would strongly recommend that anyone with darker skin avoid this office and continue using the Norfolk location instead, where I have always been treated with dignity and respect. Today, I was told to come into the office, only to be informed--after I arrived--that I had a balance and they could not see me. No one asked whether I could pay the balance, nor did they mention that this would prevent my appointment. I have an HSA card and could have taken care of the balance immediately, but the way they handled the situation completely dismissed that possibility as I no longer wanted to trust them with my care!!! To make matters worse, they announced that I needed to step into the back for a "financial issue" in front of everyone in the lobby, which was both unprofessional and embarrassing--especially considering I have not been to this office in two years. Their assumption that I had no ability to pay, and the overall treatment I received, felt discriminatory. I have never been treated this way at the Norfolk location. This experience was unacceptable, and others deserve to be aware of how this location conducts itself. Wish I could give zero stars.
