first off I would like to say the greeting I got was very welcoming ! we came in to look for a new addition to our family the staff was very knowledgeable and listened to what we were looking for in a pet,what would work with our "life"schedule,and the level of care needed!we ended up walking away with a beautiful healthy beardie! You can tell they really care not only for the animals but for the customer ! I feel like they are very genuine people that put a lot of love into what they do! I bought a $20 fish from them and within 12 hours it died. I took a water sample to Petsmart to find out the issue. There was nothing outside the normal limits. They did not care that I showed them the info and said that there are NO guarantees. Nothing. Not even store credit. I would not waste your money buying fish from them. You'd be better off buying your fish from Pet Supplies Plus, Petsmart, or even Meijer, where they guarantee their fish. read more

My mother, sister and nephew was just in the store, sent me photos of their Bearded Dragons and others, one of the Bearded Dragons looked in very very poor health and my mom brings it to one of the workers attention and the staff member says "I'm sorry but I don't have the time." Temp was way low for Bearded Dragons, no water source and they also said they didn't have time to spritz the dragons with water even once or twice a day. My mom offered to clean change the water or take or even buy it, but not for $60, it looks like it's close to death. What the hell! Either pay your employees more and/or actually hire people who care about animals. This is animal abuse! We own two and I've raised mine since it was 2 wks old. SHAME read more

Very knowledgeable about animals and especially exotics, we got several animals from them and continue to go for pet supplies and advice. If I have a problem or question about one of my animals I call the store owner before I'd call a vet. My family is life long customers. read more

I have been in Ocean Odyssey Three times in the past two weeks to buy fish and live rocks for my saltwater aquarium. Had a Great experience each time, the new owners are excellent at customer service and a pleasure to deal with. They even talked me out of buying a couple of items I wanted to buy ( I am cycling my salt tank and it was too soon for some fish/invertibrates). Give the new owners a chance and I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised. They carry a much better selection of saltwater fish than the previous owner. read more

With the new owners Ocean Odyssey is doing a lot better. I still think they should stop selling kittens and puppies (they don't know who they are really sourcing from and the care is not great still.) The reptiles and fish's care has increased a ton, and they are always stocking new fish which gives aquarium hobbyist a large selection to choose from. They do keep getting adult turtles in that do not have proper care taken of them so I really wish they'd take the extra 10 minutes to set up a basking spot or stop taking them in at all :( The snakes aren't on frozen thawed which should be changed because it would entice customers to buy and be safer for the animals (most snake keepers want f/t rodents). They are new owners and still have a lot to learn but they are doing great so far for what they know! I definitely recommend them setting up a CO2 system for the large plant and discus tank because the plants in there would do a million times better and would sell so much more. CO2 with a timer is a small cost for the profit they'd get as an investment for the store. I do think they need to try and go above and beyond with the care of their animals to make this store really great, but for now it is an okay pet store, the thing saving it being variety of the fish they stock. I know they are working on display areas so I look forward to seeing those in the future. They also don't seem to be quarantining their fish and I know that the whole system is run from the same water. I have not seen any sick fish as of yet BUT that doesn't mean it won't happen in the future and could wipe out their entire stock if they're not more careful. They also need to be stocking more guppies that are not feeder fish (so many people keep guppies so I'm very surprised they don't.) If they modernized the store and made the appearances better as well as advertised more they could really get their business known. People really appreciate it when stores take great care of their animals and know what they are talking about. I think research should be put into every animal they decide to stock so they know how to care for it and can provide new owners information as well. As an example, Preuss Pets in lansing is an incredible store and if they could rival something even close to that they'd be really doing well. Customer service is pretty good, everyone is friendly and helpful. TLDR: They stock really cool fish, has improved a lot but needs a lot more work. Still recommend! read more

I bought a "chorkie" puppy here. This puppy grew to be upwards of 30 lbs and absolutely is NOT a chorkie. My veterinarian and anyone who saw my puppy agreed that he did not look at all like a chorkie. When the owner, Dominic D'Amore, was confronted regarding this. He immediately got defensive and proceeded to tell me how he was a doctor and he knew everything about dogs and then began to trash talk my veterinarian. Although during this conversation he said he had gotten an infection from a surgery that "fried my brain" so seems odd that he would be able to say that he knows everything about these dogs when for one, he supposedly went to medical school, not veterinary school. When asked for the breeder information for his chorkie puppies he ignored me. I would not buy from him again. He is a terrible, terrible person in my eyes. BUYERS BEWARE!! This place is GREAT! They only take in rescue pets and pure bread pets. They take good care of all of them, and clean them 3 times a day. They are puppies! They are going to have accidents but they do clean them up. Staff knows a lot about all kinds of animals and prices are all fair! read more
