Ocean Massage - Massage Near Me - Imperial Beach, California

These ladies know their business. I booked an appointment for my mom and me. The place opens at 10:00 and my appointment was 10-11. We arrived 9:50, they were ready for us, no waiting. The place is clean. The massages for both of us were very good, actually one of the best ones I've ever had. It also affordable. Just a few steps from the beach, so to relax even more, after the massage, we went to see and hear the ocean waves. I definitely recommend this place. read more

The pros: - they had a walk in appointment available - it was a really good massage - very affordable The cons- - it was noisy with street sounds, talking, sinks, etc - music choice was odd Overall, I'd definitely come back. It was not a spa massage but I didn't pay spa prices so I knew what to expect. read more

Such a shame. I wanted to go back. I had several friends and people at my gym I was going to recommend this place to. HOWEVER, the woman at the counter lied to my face, and then again after I questioned her. My sister, (Betsy A, see her review), paid PLUS tip for my birthday. Before I left, the woman at the front counter told me my sister did not pay tip. I showed her my sister's text telling me she paid in full plus tip. The front desk woman and the woman who worked on me exchanged sideways glances and aggressively pursued tip, telling me my sister did not and that I HAD to tip. It seemed suspicious. It was very aggressive. I was given a Venmo account. So I ended up giving a second tip of greater than 20% after my sister had also left them a tip of 20+%. As my sister mentions in her review, this same woman had refused to issue her a receipt after she paid. Red flag. She sets up a losing situation for her customers. This is an issue of integrity. This is a lack of respect for customers. And I'm not the only reviewer that reports this woman's aggressive demands for tipping. She made me feel very uncomfortable. I will not return and I will be letting others know. Running your business this way is the quickest way to running your business out of town. read more

This was my 4th time here within the past few years and they never disappoint! I'm always able to get an appointment when I need it and they are very quick at responding. I've had Angie and Amy. All times they have been attentive and focus on troublesome areas. I've always woken up the next day very sore which means my muscles were definitely worked on. Their prices are what brought me in, even with inflation in this economy, their prices have stayed the same. read more

I love that they're always able to accommodate same day appointments and walk ins, very friendly staff

Paid for my sister to have a massage and paid 110 in cash (massage and tip included). I paid in cash and the woman refused to give me a receipt (first red flag). When my sister paid, they told her that I didn't pay the tip so she tipped them. I know it's not that much money but I'm disappointed by the lack of integrity. Lesson learned: don't try and be nice and pay cash like I did. I would spend my money at a business that won't rip people off 40 bucks. read more

Staff was very very kind and the entire location is very serene, quiet, and peaceful. Got 60 min deep tissue and cupping therapy. Whilst i wish i got more cups placed, it was perfect and the lady knew what she was doing. I feel significantly better now and i don't regret going one bit. Great pricing too. read more

I live down the street and pass by this place all the time and I finally got a massage today. I'm 37 weeks pregnant so it was a prenatal massage, I just laid on my side. It was amazing. Much needed! I loved it. I can't believe it took me so long to come here. Will def be coming often. And it's such a good deal too. $60 for an hour, can't beat that. Others have mentioned that you can hear the people in the rooms next to you, because the walls don't completely go all the way up to the ceiling, it's a little gap. But it was fine, especially for the price and convenience of location. I loved my massage, it was perfect and I can't wait to go back. read more

Massage was great. A couple of things I didn't like... therapist left the room after finishing my back and legs but didn't say anything. I just heard the door shut and then silence. About 3 minutes later she came back with a warm towel. They should purchase towel warmers for each room. Towel warmers are not that expensive. When I went to pay and give my tip she aggressively asked for $5 more dollars. She wanted a $20 tip. I am also a massage therapist of 20 years from a different state and I have Never asked for any tip from my clients nor have I ever had one ask for more than what I have given. I find this practice rude. If your business demands a certain percentage of tipping it should be stated both verbally when making appointment and in writing with advertisement. It's such a shame that they are giving themselves a bad reputation. They give excellent massages. read more

Kayla was amazing ! I asked for a deep tissue massage and it definitely did not disappoint. She hit all the tense points and really took her time. I highly recommend her! read more

How have I lived here for 14 years, and never been here? After hurting my back, 'happy 38th birthday to me' Nothing tells you you're old while getting jiggy with it and throwing your back out Anyway, I called them Friday morning before they opened, they answered for #1 and they were able to fit me in for a 90 minute massage that afternoon (my request-they might have gotten me in earlier if I asked)! Not only was it amazing to get a massage same day beachside Friday afternoon, the prices couldn't be beat AND it was probably the best 90 minute massage I've ever had. $75. Lucy was absolutely fantastic!!! Oh my gosh. Wish it wouldn't have ended. Will definitely be back and will be bringing my out of Towner's and spreading the word! Thank you so very much.. (And any out of Towner's looking at this... You are literally next to the beach...steps....& Katie's cafe, the Plank bar & grill, main street, everything.) Yes, IBers shame on me for not coming here sooner ! read more

The service is high quality and the massage will do the trick. This is not a luxury hotel spa massage this is a 'get-in/get-out' location. If you have not experienced the joy of a $30 foot massage or hole in the wall massage place than you're missing out. There can be a time and place for luxe robes and lavender diffusers but these locations are built for the everyday massage that doesn't need to be reserved for special occasions or vacations. The prices are low and intended to allow for a good tip when you have a good experience. I have not had a bad massage and they always work out a tense neck from working at a computer all day. Tip them well please so they can keep the price of the service low. $60 for an hour massage, thank you Ocean Massage! read more

Wow. I was left speechless at the quality of this massage for the affordable pricing. Was able to schedule a 90min full body massage for $90! It was incredible and she really took her time to massage my knots and tense muscles. Very professional and a relaxing/soothing ambience. This is definitely my new massage spot. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Read first! Before going to this place I read the Yelp reviews. I ended up picking this place for two reasons. It was close and the reviews didn't look terrible. However, I was skeptical of the reviews like you. One previous review caught my eye that said the lady at the front complained about tipping. I figured that person probably left a lousy tip. Wrong, they will harass you and make sure you leave an extremely high tip by leaning over the counter and checking how much. If you don't leave enough... lol, be ready for some horrible confrontation. I give the actual massage, C+. You will walk in and they will send you to a room. No discussion of any issues etc. they will jump right in and ask, "how's the pressure". That's it. Don't go here. Do what I wished I did and went with a proper massage therapist. read more

Lucy is absolutely fabulous. After a severe mountain biking accident, she has been a tremendous asset. She is knowledgeable, effective, and extremely responsive. She pays attention to detail and offers an effective therapeutic massage. She truly has helped more than any general practitioner. Definitely recommend Ocean massage.. Thank you! read more

I had a great massage but was shocked at every turn at the service otherwise. I arrived not even 10 minutes early to a lady at the reception acted like I were extremely rude by being early she saying my appointment was not for 19 more minutes which I thought was strange as it was booked on the hour. Then once I'm in my room finally my masseuse was then 20 minutes late which cut into my massage time of course, no one told me she would be late and the woman said change and lay down so I was just laying on the bed in a room for this entire time. she did take wonderful care of my back however and gave a very good massage. This massage was a gift to me and I explained that I had a gift coupon for $90 when booked but when I gave the woman a tip for my massage she said that the tip i gave was not enough and demanded more because I had a coupon! And would you believe it I tipped her more!!! Do not offer gift cards if you do not honor them or expect an inordinate tip at the time of use!!!!!!!!!!! I will never be back sadly despite a truly wonderful massage my my masseuse and great prices and overall location I found the experience very upsetting. Also you can hear everyone in the bathroom and all conversations throughout the spa which I personally didn't mind terribly but since I'm peeved now I'll let y'all know the rooms aren't divided by walls that go the entire way up so you can hear every fart and massaging of other clients and the doorbell go when people enter it's hardly a relaxing experience ‍ read more

Angie did an amazing job! She found exactly the spots that needed working! I Will definitely be back!!!

I was staying nearby and after waking up with horrible neck pain found this place on yelp-- what I love saver. Angie didn't answer the phone but she did text me back and I was able to stop by with in an hour! I'm normally not a big fan of messages because of my low pain tolerance but she did a great job working things out of my neck. I felt so much better after the fact. Reasonably priced! read more

Great massage every time! Clean, friendly and reasonably priced. Open later evening hours, very convenient!

Appointment - I was able to get booked pretty easily over the phone. I called the day before and they fit me in for a 10 am appointment, 90 minute massage. I'm pretty happy with how accommodating that was. Price - I paid $75 for a 90 minute massage. That's a really good price in comparison to other places, like massage envy (~ $100 for 1 hour). Massage - I had Sunny as my massage therapist. Her techniques and pressure are amazing. I appreciate that she lightens up when asked and focused on an area I requested. I still received the full body massage, which was amazing. However, I requested a little extra TLC on my the muscles surrounding my right scapula. I was experiencing quite a bit of pain in that region and it was causing a lot of my tension headaches. Now that the massage is over, I can honestly say that region feels A LOT better. I feel lighter and a lot less tense overall. Overall experience - This is where I had to knock down a star. There were certain aspects of my overall experience that were not that great for me. Firstly, when I arrived to the facility, I wasn't greeted pleasantly. They just asked me if I have a massage, directed me immediately to the room, and asked me to get undressed for the massage. When Sunny came in for the massage, she didn't introduce herself. She didn't ask for my preferences or take the time to get to know my needs. I had to ask for things as the massage continued. Like I stated earlier, the massage was amazing and she really did listen when I requested for something to be done. However, I would've appreciated an introduction. Another thing that was a little underwhelming for me was that while I was scheduled for a 90 minute massage, she cut the massage around 5 ish minutes short. Additionally, she left the room a few times to grab hot towels and wash her hands. I wish that the towels were in the room so I didn't have to constantly hear the door slamming when she left and so that it didn't cut into my massage time, as she left for a couple minutes at a time. That leads me to another complaint. The walls separating the rooms and the hallway aren't built all the way up. They're similar to bathroom stalls where there is an opening at the top, so you really can hear everything. You hear the conversations outside of the room, you hear the music they're playing, you hear whatever's happening in the lobby, and you can hear what's happening outside of the facility. That was super distracting for me and made it difficult to fully relax. Lastly, I have a complaint about the encounter at the end when it was time to pay. The massage is definitely worth the $75 and I was happy to tip Sunny. However, I didn't love how she hovered waiting for the tip and looked at it like it wasn't enough. I gave $20 in increments of $5 so I think she thought I gave a little less, but she looked at it with a frustrated face. When I told her it was $20, I could instantly see the change in her facial expression. Like I said, I was happy to tip her, because she deserved it. But it's an awkward encounter to wait around and seem disappointed when it isn't enough. I read older reviews on this place from a few years back and apparently some people were told that their tip wasn't enough. I'm glad that didn't happen to me, but I could still see the expectation for more. Overall, I would still come back, primarily because Sunny's skill truly addressed my pain. There are some things that would be a make or break sort of situation for some people (like the noise), but I am happy to be pain free for the moment. read more

Had a really great massage! Very relaxing and would 100% recommend ! Was happy they could do a reservation at the last minute .

So ive been getting massages for years, Ive had them in Thailand and the Phillipines as well as in san diego. Out of all the places i have been in San Diego, this place is the best! If you need legitimate solid deep tissue across your body then come here. Best i've experienced since thailand and the phillipines. (which in my opinion wont ever be beat out do to price point). make sure to tip minimum 15-20$ because unlike other establishments these ladies deserve it! read more

Loved my massage...BUT..... Made my appointment for the next day showed up on time stressed how I needed work on one shoulder. The woman showed me into a room that was clean and neat, but nothing fancy. I assumed the same woman would be doing my massage. I laid face down and then got the best massage I've ever had and I've had several. This one without a doubt was awesome. When I turned over I saw a woman's face I had not met before. The problem occurs only after the massage. Typically water is offered to hydrate but nothing was offered. I went to the front counter where the 2 accepted credit cards are posted on the counter. My masseuse meets me at the counter and sees me taking my credit cards with some cash out of my pockets and asks me to pay her tip in cash. I hand her my credit card and as she fumbles frustrated with the credit card machine to knocks on a closed door and the first woman I meet come out and fixed the machine. My masseuse tells me next time to bring cash and tells me most people tip twenty dollars. Though this was an awesome massage especially for $40 bucks. I don't appreciate being told how to tip, or how much to tip to give, nor do I appreciate being told to bring cash when they clearly accept credit cards and charge $1 for that service. I very much would like to tell the owner she has a possible gold mine but really needs to educate the staff on customer service and good etiquette. Businesses fail by bad customer experiences and word of mouth. I really wanted to back for another massage but don't want to deal with pushy or rude staff. read more

On a getaway w BFFS and decided to try this studio since the spa was closed at our hotel. Best decision EVER. Two of us went and were thrilled with our massages and therapists. Sherry and Angie were top notch and I'm planning to go back today!! They gave each of us longer than an hour and our massages were totally personalized to meet our individual needs. This place is amazing. Have been here twice now and each time the massage was EXCELLENT. Good pressure - sometimes close to too much pressure - which is amazing because usually I have to keep asking for more pressure. Cute spot right next to the beach. Went with a friend who is a massage therapist and she could not stop raving about her massage, too! Love this place, will definitely be back again. read more

I've walked by this establishment many times. This morning I stopped in and made an appointment for later in the afternoon. When I returned, I was greeted and shown to an immaculate room. The owner, Angie, started working on me. She found all my tense muscles on her own and worked them out with her amazing hands. I've had many massages but this was absolutely the best. And the prices are beyond reasonable. I'm sharing this gem with my friends and look forward to returning on a regular basis. read more

This is my 2nd time coming here. Not sure who was the first masseuse I had. She was awesome! But my second time around I made sure to ask for the masseuses name. Her name was Sunny. SHE WAS AMAZING! Kimmy is wonderful, and just does the best massage and finds just what your body needs!!! I can't recommend her enough.

Don't recommend this place. First, the service was not satisfied. when I went in, two people were standing there and no one said hello, but looking. When I was asking about the price, one person just pointed to the price on the wall. Second, the massage was not very professional, I have had massage for years, she couldn't find the right points at all . All in all, the worst massage experience I have ever had in my life. Not worthy the money , definitely I won't go again! read more

Omg that was exactly what I needed. Very deep tissue. Professional and skilled to say the least. My wife and I had a couples massage that was very personalized. I will be back very soon. 13/10 would do again. Coming from restarting a gym and really feeling the missed time. Massage took me from plank of wood to ball of dough. Stupid cheap prices for the area.
