I had an absolutely amazing stay at Ocean Key Resort! From check-in to check-out, everything was truly top-notch. The staff was incredibly helpful and pleasant the entire time. A special shoutout to Quil, who checked me in--they were absolutely amazing! So professional, welcoming, and attentive to every need. They really set the tone for a great stay. Now let me talk about the room... because WOW. We had a top-floor room with a balcony, and the view alone was breathtaking. But what really stood out to me was how unbelievably clean everything was. When I say spotless, I mean SPOTLESS. Every single appliance, every surface--there wasn't a speck of dust or dirt anywhere. You can tell they take real pride in making sure everything is perfectly maintained. The room was not only clean but beautifully put together, comfortable, and peaceful. Sitting out on the balcony just took the whole experience to another level. Between the amazing service, the attention to detail, the cleanliness, and the overall atmosphere, this was truly money well spent. I know there's some bad reviews on here but I'm not sure which rooms they stayed in or how long it's been cause I had the best experience here! My room was so big basically an apartment with a living room mini kitchen space and the bedroom. The bed was super comfy I slept like I was at home there's also a balcony in the bedroom where you can sit out and see a beautiful view. The prices were also cheap for this type of room. My room and space was also very clean the staff was super welcoming and friendly they even let me check in early. I will definitely make this my go to place to stay when I come back to VA beach. I had a previous booking with a hotel that didn't end up working out and I'm glad it didn't cause I wouldn't have found this gem. There is also so much to do within walking distance including the beach!!! read more

All in all, these are the problems in most of the photos attached: Black mold underneath the bathroom sink, nasty stains on the couch cushion (which was simply TURNED OVER to hide the stain & and the whitish goop never cleaned off! WHAT IS THIS STUFF ON THIS COUCH CUSHION? HUMAN BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL?), a dead bug on the door jamb next to the kitchen sink, a constantly dripping tub faucet, filthy hallway floors, black mold on the carpet underneath the vending machines on the 6th floor, and the floors in our room were so dirty upon arrival that walking barefoot left your feet BLACK with FILTH. Booked with my son for a fishing trip and when we arrived I had to find somewhere else to stay for the night because it was so filthy. someone had urinated in the elevator, the hall had trash all over the floor and our room was INFESTED with roaches. room was very poorly cared for. The parking garage is the place where everyone goes out to get high. Management has been promising for weeks to refund but so far nothing! Stay far away! Very poor quality and dirty rooms. I just spent an hour cleaning my own room because this is a resort not a hotel as told by housekeeping. Housekeeping also stated that they don't really clean the rooms because of turnover during season!!! I've never heard of such a thing!!!! read more

Our refrigerator froze our food. We had to dispose of half of it (salads, fresh vegetables). Maintenance never came to fix it, manager suggested that we just thaw what we need ahead of time. There was a loud rhythmic noise in the room above ours that sounded like a large hard object being dropped on the floor, over and over again. Due to management refusing to reimburse for our ruined food we chose to play music while we were there and use white noise at night. There were several other things that needed repair. I would not stay there again. On a positive note, other than the manager, the staff was pleasant. read more

This hotel was worth the staycation! You have a living, full kitchen stocked with pots, pans, plates, silverware, and more everything you need. The room was very clean and well kept. Customer service was responsive when needed. We did take a dip in the hot tub and checked out the pool, as soon as we were about to step into the hot tub they turned the jet on for us too! Well located in Virginia Beach, not right on the water line but one block over, we will for sure be back! read more

the pull out bed has blood stains and food on the sheets. when I requested someone clean and change it no one came and then I had to change the bed myself. when I took a shower there was reddish brown substance smeared on the ceiling and what looked like fecal matter next ti the toilet. I ended up staying one night then had to check out because I was so disgusted by the room. I was promised a refund by the manager Bill and that he would call me to discuss this more but instead I was told that I would not get a refund. I booked to stay July 4-9 and only stayed the 4th and they took my money. I don't know how they think this is how to run a business but I will never stay here again. Wish I would've taken a photo of the bed but my daughter was there and horrified looking at what was supposed to be her bed. read more

We stayed there on 3/31/2023 through 4/2/2023. In the first room the toilet didn't flush so that moved us to another room. The second room was filthy. The bathtub hadn't been cleaned. There was potato chip crumbs in the living room. We complained so they move us again. We had to wait an hour for the room to inspected/ cleaned. We had a hard time locking the balcony door. One of the elevators was out of order so you had to wait long periods of time to get on because of the crowds. The phone didn't work in the second room so we had to go down to front desk to report problems. We had to ask for reimbursement. The manager did give us one night back. Overall not a good stay. Stayed last night.... Will 100% stay again. Upon checking I noticed four people behind the desk. Didn't think anything of it. Went to the room after and had an issue with the lock on our room door. Went down the front desk to talk the gentlemen that checked us. Informed him of the issue and he speaks with another gentlemen behind the desk. We get moved next door to another room. Super fast, I'm a really digging the response time and customer service. My girl and I get dinner, bar hop, and then come back. In the elevator, they have a mini bio print out of the team that works there. Turns out the dude that took my issue was the assistant manager and the dude right behind him was the manager. Not only do I appreciate the quick response to the door not locking, but I respect the fact the manager was up front with his people making sure issues were addressed. In their elevator bank, they have photos and duty titles of the staff that works there. Love that.... I think they should expand that to include everyone that works there. I'm coming back....can't wait party here again. read more

The staff at the Ocean Key Resort were friendly and helpful during our six night stay at the hotel. The room, lobby, laundry room, pool area were all clean. We did not choose a room with a balcony, so our room only had one window in the bedroom and none in the living room. The window was the type that does not open, which I prefer to allow fresh air into the room. read more

My parents has a timeshare, so hubby and I often use it to stay at hotels time to time and this is one of those times, Spring 2017. I've stayed at other Ocean Key Resort and they've been nice but this particular one not so. The only good thing about this hotel is it's connected to a pizza shop. Now the bad, when you first walk in the hotel you see the pool and the guest swimming. As the guest in the pool, I would feel awkward because everyone can see you so easily as they walk in. Like shouldn't the pool area be secluded off to the side somewhere? The elevators are so slow. As a matter fact, I think I only saw one, but I may be wrong. The "suit" I had is really small. It was a living room area separated from the bedroom. The couch and bed was uncomfortable. The hotel is really old and needs major updating. It needs to come down and just be build from the ground up and this time put the pool somewhere more secluded. read more

Quinton at the front desk was not helpful whatsoever and essentially left it completely up to my wife to figure out reservation issue. 10 pm at night, kids sleeping in car. We loved our stay here! 4 nights!!!! 1) living room is spacious! It had dining room table, couch, tv, side chair, and futon. Kitchenette is the right size for the room! It had lots of essentials in the kitchen to cook like if you're home. Refrigerator is a big size one which could contain lot of grocery!! Bedroom (king size bed) was spacious. It had tv, side chair as well! Overall, it exceeded our expectation and made our 4 nights stay comfortable with the baby!!! We are currently staying at Ocean Key Resort as guests through an RCI exchange, and the staff here are among the friendliest and most helpful we've come across at any of the RCI condos we've been to. (And we've been to rather a lot of them.) Upon checking in the woman at the front desk, Leann, went out of her way to make sure we felt welcome. The first night we were here we asked if we could get a dvd player in the room and Shaseen came up and enthusiastically installed it for us, which is a luxury we've hardly encountered anywhere else. There is an activities room on the third floor which is staffed all day long with someone who helps check out dvds and leads activities, which makes the building feel like it's buzzing with activity and warmth, even in the off season. The units are fairly small and more or less basic, but nice. It has everything one needs for a week at the beach, and the units facing towards the ocean all have an ocean view, which is another luxury; the building is one block from the beach but the property across the street is only two stories so one can see the beach from the units here. (Just ask for one facing towards the beach, half the units face away from the beach which I believe would be towards the road). We've had a great time here! read more

Would not even give them a star but I have to to be able to leave a review. I'm writing this as I leave the hotel at 2:30am from my HONEYMOON. This is not a resort so I'm not sure why they say it is. There's a pizza place and a pool and that's all the "amazing" amenities lol but the real reason(s) we left, day 1 we walked in and noticed it was not like the rest of the chain of resorts, room was dirty and had bugs I killed atleast 5 myself and my husband killed some too, I also had a bug bite on my leg the next morning and the room was freezing cold, heat will not work so I had the shower on hot for most of the first day to warm the room up, and then had to go buy a space heater to make it more bearable. The tv in the living room does not work and says it has cables to connect it but it's not long enough so it was pointless to have. There was mold and mildew in the shower and you have to hold the toilet handle down for 20 seconds for the toilet to flush. To turn the shower on you pull the little switch and it only half way works you have to really jerk the handle 2-3 times to get any type of shower pressure and it still doesn't function all the way. Theres just an uneasy feeling you get when you arrive at the hotel and you hear strange noises in the walls at weird times. There was a conjoining door to the room next door that did not seem to lock nor be closed all the way so we had to slide the chairs and table infront of it to feel more comfortable, after already having a weird feeling my husband went to go to the front desk to fill out some paperwork and I immediately heard another weird noise and ran after him not to leave me in the room alone. There was a random door in our room that you could not get into and was very weird. So of course that night when we are trying to make dinner with all the melted and unsanitary dishes we had to wash multiple times to even feel comfortable using, I noticed that the vent in the living room (leading to the locked mystery doors room) was hanging off the wall missing 2 bottom screws so it flapped up like a doggy door and could easily be crawled in and out of. and was NOT like that when we first got there (I personally checked all the vents to see if the heat was working) we immediately starting packing to leave and check out. So the icing on the cake was when we went down the front desk to check out and they had no reservation for us..not under any names we gave..and acted as if it was a problem that we were trying to leave and they couldn't find us in the system, at first we were making jokes about sex trafficking or something happening but I truly feel like they had no sign of us In the computer for a reason as if we weren't supposed to check out the next day.. never again read more

About the only thing this place has going for it is the location, which is across the street from the beach. The pool area is too small for the size of the place, and we were there when the occupancy was way down. The room we had was spartan at best. The bed was hard and the couch uncomfortable. We stayed on the fifth floor, and there was this weird disconcerting tremor that kept happening that the staff refused to acknowledge. My wife thought she was reserving a regular room, but when she called to book a specific date, found out it was a timeshare, which required us to sit through the 90 minute dog and pony show designed to sell us a unit. She didn't want to lose her deposit, so we booked the stay. The sales pitch was tedious and tenacious, even after we told them upfront we were not remotely interested. Lesson learned! read more

I just spent almost a week here. December 14-20, 2016. The experience was quite enjoyable. They are currently renovating the building, but we were never disturbed by construction noise or clutter. We had a 1 BR unit that included a small kitchenette, full bathroom and a small living room. TVs in both the bedroom and living room with full satellite channels, including HBO and kid friendly channels was nice. The kitchen setup included a half size fridge (plenty of room for some eggs and such as well as keeping snacks and leftovers); a four burner cooktop; full-size microwave; a single basin sink; dishwasher; 12 cup coffee maker; griddle and toaster; 4 place settings; a couple of pots/pans and serving ware. I found it to be a pretty good setup for making some meals and keeping enough snacks around. Everything in the kitchen was very clean and organized upon arrival. The building, including the pool area was kept very clean throughout our stay. I was never bothered by noise from other guests (although it is off-season and they weren't full). Parking is very convenient in an adjacent garage and included with the stay. Customer service was great. I'd stay here again. read more

I'm a bit late with my review but I stayed there from 3/26-4/2. It was so enjoyable and refreshing that I had to make sure I left a review. Upon arriving i was greeted by two lovely ladies Sam and Melanie. Their team work was what I first notice. Seem to have good communication and working together strength. It was a busy night I over heard it was about 70 check in left. I share this because I truly believe GOOD/professional customer service makes a difference in a consumer's experience. First night there, I had an issue with the room that was speedily taken care of. Chris the manager made sure I didn't have a worry and I was moved to another room with a view and balcony. That was a plus! There's a great restaurant across the street which won me over, The Waterman's Surfside. The food was great. I was there every day. And I like to try new thing. Yet again their service was awesome. I met Ashley, Danielle, Rob and a few other employees there. I'm giving this review for others to visit and get a great experience as well. I'm a wife and mother of 6. I went to this trip with my mother-in-love only. I'm already looking to book a family trip. Virginia and Ocean Key Resort is family friendly. When you go, tell Melanie I send you. She was so sweet, kind and helpful. Every night we came to the room, she was there ready to greet us. Kinda missed her the days she was off. This was a great Hotel! Every thing was neat and clean when we arrived. The location was just across from the beach, so it was perfect for me and my boys. The Laundry was free as long as you bring your own detergent and you wouldnt want to buy detergent there because its about 10$ for a little bottle. The Virginia Street entertainment was super great with some awesome talent. Next year i will be visiting again and I will Defenitly be staying at the Ocean Keys read more

This is only our first night, but we are not impressed. 1. To check in, you park in their parking structure, but there is no way to get into the hotel or even a stairwell without a room key. So, my daughters and I walked down and around the ramp of the parking structure to finally get in the hotel to check in. 2. I asked the front desk for linens for the hide-a-way sofa. I was told to go across from room 417 (on the 4th floor) and ring the doorbell and ask the cleaning staff for a set. 3. Coffee is only provided from 6am until 10am in the lobby. Why not all day? 4. The fitness area is locked. To access the area, you must call the desk to make a reservation where someone with a key will meet you there to let you in. Yet, reservations can only be made the day of. So, I will get up early and call in the morning in hopes of getting a morning workout in. 5. The staff at the desk are not very friendly. The lady who told me to get my own sheets was actually training a new staff member. Not a good sign. I am not impressed. I hope that the experience improves over the next few days. read more

This hotel is really nice for a getaway. Everything is clean and the staff is super friendly. It's on the 5th Street so it's a good 10 block walk from where all the action is, give or take. They don't clean the rooms during your stay which you can view as a pro or con.. I didn't really mind that and the pool was small but we got it to ourselves from 9 - 11pm one night. Might smell funky when you walk in but it's because the pools in the lobby. I didnt get a picture of our bathroom but it was nice and clean for us and the water pressure was a little on the weak side. Other than that everything was great! read more

Please be aware that this post was in my draft box and didn't notice It wasn't posted till now. This was on July of 2015. We got this vacation as part of the kar4kids donation program. The room was very nice, clean and everything was new, however one of the worse experiences we had. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night on our first night, everyone in the hotel was outside and fire department was there. False alarm, everyone back in and 30 minutes later everyone was out again. This went on a few more times. In the morning we wanted to hit the beach and since it was our first time there we ask the staff to point us in the right direction none could tell us which way to go. To our surprise a few speak Russian, hmmmmmmm. In the end we found our way to the beach. Got back in the afternoon to our room which was on the 4th floor to find water everywhere. As the elevator doors opened, surprise, ceiling fire extinguishers malfunction and was raining inside. All of clothing and luggage was wet. They moved everyone from our floor and the floor below which ceilings were leaking to the 5th and 6th. Spend all night washing and drying our clothing waiting in line with the rest of the guess for the only 2 washers and dryer on the 6th floor with over 20 other guess. The manager was nice to say take it to a cleaner and they would reimburse us but I was not going to drive looking for a cleaners open at those hours. The next day I really needed a vacation from this vacation. The hotel personal said that there was a shuttle taking anyone who wanted to participate to a skating ring for free, complements of the hotel. I said what that hell, my girls needed the fun to save what was left of this vacation. It took an hour to get there, the driver was a kid that looks like he was stoned and drove like a maniac. Half way there everyone in the shuttle screamed at him to take it easy. We get to the skating ring make the line and taddaaaaa. $15 a persons plus $5 more for skate rentals. I was ready to bite someone's head off. I told the desk clerk that we were guess of Ocean Key Port and our trip to the skating ring was a no charge for their guess she started to laugh. I asked her what was so funny and she said they had nothing to do with the hotel or any hotel and everyone needed to pay to get in. Well guess what, since the fucking worthless hotel staff said it was free I didn't brought but a few dollars to get snacks for my girls so we couldn't getting. My girls my self along with many other hotel guess were in the same situation and had no choice but to wait outside for the shuttle to get back 3 hours later. Ocean Key Port hotel has shit for service, terrible staff, highly possible Russian immigrant trafficking ring and when the manager offered me free room stay for a week for the next 3 years I gave him a smile, the finger and told him not even if that was the only way the human race would survive extinction. read more

The unit was very tired and in need of renovation. There was mold on tile floors. Unit was very cold. Despite having the thermostat turned up to 75, the unit would only reach 66. The door lock was difficult to open, like the battery in the door lock was low. The unit did not include courtesy supplies I am accustomed to finding such as dishwasher detergent, dish washing detergent, paper towels, etc...Finally the floor was very cold like there was no insulation under the floor. read more

Location: 2 minute walk from the beach. Located at one of the ends of Atlantic Avenue. Everything entertaining other than the beach is about a mile walk down Atlantic Avenue. During the day it is extremely noisy due to several reasons; Employees very loud in the non-acclimated humid hallways, Navy jets flying close by on a regular basis, loud motorcycles passing by, people trying to show off their cars with loud exhausts and heavy heavy bass music which actually shakes the rooms to the resort. Windows and balcony access door not soundproofed. It will be noisy from about 10am to midnight so if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful location...this is 100% not it. Facility: Poor reception/lobby set up. Chairs and round table directly in front of the main entrance are somewhat awkward having to walk around it. The Roma Pizza place attached to the Resort is casual with indoor and outdoor seating Somewhat pricey as well. Don't recommend sitting outside while the plants are being watered. They get the seats and tables wet in the process. Amenities: No washer and dryer available inside rooms...must go to laundry facility within building. Two elevators that are so inconvenient and inefficient to take people to numerous floors, a long wait. Very small 4' deep pool in lobby. Enough for maybe 3 families to enjoy at one time. Luggage carts are few and far between. Upon arrival it took 20 minutes to find one by the staff. Parking structure so compact that it will be difficult to navigate any vehicle equal to or larger than a mid-size van or SUV without complications. No room service/housekeeping is offered. Must do a lot on your own and struggle with help when asking for it. Rooms: Abnormal setup. The 2-bedroom units have 2 single beds upon entry to room. Then you walk through the so-called kitchen which is about 2.5'-3.0' wide that offers a small fridge, cooking surface, 1.5' countertop, a.microwave/convection oven combo because it has no actual oven. A small out dated coffee machine, standard 2 slot toaster and some dishes and silverware. HIGHLY urge cleaning everything before use as these items were disgusting. Floors were unswept, toilets were not properly cleaned and walls had smear marks of only God knows what on them. Light switches, door frames and doorknobs were caked in a nasty film of stuff. Balcony is nice but also very dirty. Door covered in road dirt/grime. Balcony door requires moderate force to open and close. Only one side of the resort has a partial beach view which is best seen from the 5th or upper floors. The living/dining room is small. Cannot use the pullout bed unless dining room table is pushed against the wall. Cable ready tvs in every bedroom and living/dining room...remotes are for the cable, not tv...cannot control volume or other features with them. The main bedroom is a good size with an attached bathroom that isnt out of the ordinary...plain single sink design, molded bathtub with a shower head that doesnt even spray water out properly because of the large amount of calcium build-up. Summary: This place is rated as Silver...I would reduce it to Bronze given all that was mentioned. If you need a place to sleep and will spend very little time in the resort then this could be the right place for you. If you are at VA Beach to relax...this is definitely not the place as it is more treated like a standard middle class apartment complex with little care to customer satisfaction or cleanliness. Management is proactive but some of the day to day employees you meet seem very clueless and passive amd dont seem to genuinely care about random inquiries or concerns. Unfortunately because we've had better experiences from different RCI destinations we have to rate this fairly low due to numerous inconveniences, lack of amenities, set-up and lack of cleanliness. read more

Bed Bugs. Mold. Stains. Bad Service. The staff is not helpful or polite, went to the pool and asked for towels and I was literally looking at a fresh pile of towels behind this woman when she told me that "the towel room is closed." Everything everywhere is old and dirty. The furniture is so dated and uncomfortable. I have a balcony with a door that won't stay closed. There is only one washer and dryer for the entire building. The pool is dirty and small, it doesn't get cleaned very often they literally just top off the chlorine and call it a day. The heating and cooling system in the entire building needs work. The space planning of the entire building is horrible and inconvenient, especially the parking garage. Good luck getting in without scratching your car. Tight parking garage and tight "suites." The rooms are entirely too small, you bump into everything just walking around. Looks to me that this hotel was built decades ago and they put in some new appliances and took some pictures from interesting angles and then stopped caring about their guests completely. This is not a resort experience at all. I would not recommend wasting your money here. The only thing keeping this place in business is vicinity to the beach. read more

Was a nice hotel, great indoor pool and hot tub! Very close to boardwalk. And close to the inlet as well.

This 'resort' is poorly run. The rooms are dated, small, and virtually have no soundproofing. You can hear everything that goes on next door, including a non stop crying toddler. The halls are not heated and they apparently keep the rooms extremely cold and do not always increase the temperature to accommodate arriving guests. Walking on the carpeted floors felt like walking on ice. Our room was still freezing after over two hours. This is the third room they put us in as the key cards didn't work in the first two. We are traveling with an elderly man and this is inexcusable. .finally thanks to Jason in maintenance found us a warm room(fourth one) and even helped us move. Lola was also very helpful. The employees should receive a five. I feel empathy for them working here and bearing the complaints that are not their fault. This is on RCIs resort list. Not happy. read more

It was just okay. Mixed feelings really. On the one hand, the staff were friendly and the vibe is chill. It has a good pool and the location is nearly on the beach. On the other hand, it's not quite as updated as they might think. The room was also not entirely clean, some dirty floors and bathroom definitely needed recaulked. I had the pleasure of staying at the Ocean Key Resort from Oct 27,2018 to Nov 3,2018 in Rms 922-923..the accommodations were very nice..both Units were very clean..I was a guest of Ms A Taylor & we had such a very time!!..the Staff were Very nice & friendly as well as professional..whenever I called the front desk & needed anything it was taken care of right away..the maintenance men Gary,Antonio,Lavarris & Mike were sooo very helpful & very respectable..whenever we needed anything done they made sure it was taken care ASAP...the young lady Megan in the activities center was very helpful in helping us with suggestions of good restaurants,etc.. We stayed here for a week and loved it! They were constantly cleaning common areas. Our room was large with small kitchen living area and nice size bath. We just stayed here for a week, I booked our stay on eBay and was nervous about it being legit but it was great and 100% legit. We were able to enjoy all of the amenities and we did not have to do any timeshare tours. The staff was great ,very friendly and answered any questions we may have had. They called 1 time and offered for us to attend one of the meetings but we weren't interested and they did not push which was a plus. The location was great, the corner of 5th st and Atlantic Ave which is close to the beginning of the pier and across the street from the beach. We had a 1 bedroom with living room, a full mini kitchen with all supplies, 1 bath and bedroom with king size bed. We also had a good view from our window on the 7th floor we could see the beach through the condos in front of the unit and Rudee Inlet on the end by the marina. The room was very nice, clean and had everything you need except bath soap, shampoo conditioner which is fine because I always pack my own. They supply towels and pots, pans plates etc. There is also plenty of restaurants and gifts shopping along the main street in front of the condo, 3 miles long to the end. We loved walking this daily and on the boardwalk across the street. They also have planned activities daily, an indoor pool, free tanning bed, gym, tanning patio, video game room,pool table and a small Italian restaurant down stairs. Loved our stay read more

We rented a one bedroom suite and were pleasantly surprised. The suite was small, but everything we needed. It's an older resort, but has been very well remodeled. Everything was new and I mean everything; carpet, paint, furniture, appliances; etc. Even the bathtub was new. It's not right on the beach, but right across the street from the boardwalk and beach. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It has and indoor pool and a great Italian restaurant on the main floor. The restaurant's pizza was fantastic and can be delivered right to your room.
