Location excellent, pool outstanding! Rooms dated, they were adequate but in desperate need of updating and minor cosmetics that would take it from nice to amazing! Rugs were worn, furniture a bit uncomfortable - but the staff and pool make up for what it's lacking. I did love that the hotel was at the edge of town and just across from the public access beach. Wish the sister hotel provided beach chairs. Pricing is a bit high for the quality of interiors. read more

I have visited this timeshare often. It is in need of a major upgrade and update. I had to stay longer due to a family medical emergency and my second room had scaffolding holding up the balcony. That is just simply unexpected and unacceptable. They certainly make enough to maintain this property better than this. I saw a lot of rusting on steps and other common areas. The staff is great and very accommodating. The parking is ample and underneath the resort in an underground parking area. I also parked my bike there for the week. The couches and beds are in desperate need of an update. I will definitely wait until they do some major updates before I come back. They have a few other properties on the beach. read more

We had the best stay at Turtle Cay this weekend. From check in to check out, every staff member was beyond helpful and genuinely seemed happy to do so. We had a minor issue with our first room and Cheryl went above and beyond to correct it and made sure the remainder of our stay was to our liking. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this resort to anyone coming to the Virginia Beach area. We stayed in a suite that has a full kitchen, balcony, fireplace, and huge bathroom. A wonderful thing about the layout is the bedroom door can be closed off from the rest of the room to allow people watching TV/eating/visiting to be separated from those wanting to rest. Occupancy - We were told by on-site staff prior to booking that the hotel was at 50% occupancy. After arrival we were told that they were actually at 100%. After leaving the hotel I spoke to the general manager about this and they said they were legally allowed to book at 100% room occupancy. They are only required to identify if there are more than 4 people in each room. Parking - There is a single level of parking under the hotel. There isn't enough parking for the entire hotel if it's 100% occupied. There is overflow parking in a lot across the street, but there is a $15 a night charge to park there. Room Access - The hotel is 3 levels with a garage. The only access to the actual rooms is via multiple flights of stairs, or a single elevator all the way in the rear of the parking garage. The elevator is very small and in current conditions limits multiple visitors from using it at the same time to ensure safety. There are no ramps in the entire building which means it can not be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. This makes it extremely difficult when travelling with strollers. Pool - Even though the hotel is 100% occupied, only 50% of pool amenities (Chairs, umbrellas, tables, etc.) are deployed for use. People were literally trying to fight each other over amenities. Room - The room was large in size consisting of a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and one bedroom. The carpet and furniture were old in appearance and quality. In the bathroom the bathroom tub leaked water from the faucet sealings and the floor was a type of tile that made the floor extremely slippery when any water was present. The water pressure in the bathroom was also non-existent. The linens were clean in bothe the bedroom and on the pull-out couch. Trash - There is a trash drop off point on each floor where guests are supposed to drop trash through a door so that it can go down to the compactor. On multiple days guests were just leaving the trash bags inside the door to the room because the compactor was so full that trash had backed up to the door and made it impossible to add more. We also observed multiple cockroaches near this location on multiple days. read more

A family friendly spot only one block from the beach! So close you can see the boardwalk from the lobby. This is on the quieter side of the boardwalk which we preferred with our younger kids. Conveniently close to Chix and Watermans! Parking is secure in their key card access garage. The room was huge and had a full kitchen and washer dryer making our weekend trip so much more convenient. The pool was our favorite as they have a 0ft area and many separate areas for the kids. Definitely recommend this spot for families. read more

This hotel is good and bad. First of all on Thursday August 11-12 at around 11:14 the fire alarm went off. It ended at about 3 in the morning. When I say the fire alarm went off, I mean the whole hotels alarms went off. It took two people to take it off. No one could sleep because of the ringing noise. A good thing is there pools. The hot tub was close for I don't know, maybe corona. They have a pool that goes to 1-3 feet, and it's for kids. They have a pool that goes from 3-5 feet for teens. The place is falling apart it had jacks to hold up the balcony. The place is clearly falling apart. When you don't have any parking they make you go to this creepy parking lot across the street. If you like a bug filled old wooden building with no sound insulation and very loud jets flying low then this is the place for you. Having said that the staff is excellent. It is not their fault that the resort is falling apart and only fit for cockroaches . Management obviously does not care about tattered uncomfortable furniture, or threadbare rugs. But they are doing something because there some exterior repairs or construction going on that is loud enough to ruin any thought of relaxing. But probably the repairs had to be done before the pool side balcony decks fall down. Many guests were unhappy that they could not use their private balcony deck. You do not want to read my description of the 15 year old cushions on the lounge chairs. As a timeshare owner I thought the Diamond management was very poor. But it has gotten much worse with Diamond staff working without supervision from the new Hilton management. The only thing they are very good at is raising the maintenance fee. The reviews here are right on target. I'm glad I read ahead of time so I wasn't unprepared. Pros - I thought the place was very clean. Customer service excellent--I was so happy the kitchen came with a blender & when it wasn't working, I called the front desk & got a replacement immediately. I thought the bed was super comfy and I LOVED the selection of pillows. Giant soaking tub was great, parking with the pass was no problem. I used the fireplace on cold evenings. Lovely! Cons - It's not the resort's fault I didn't know there was a beach rodeo happening the weekend I was staying. This made the walking-distance beachfront a mess and I spent most of my weekend further north. As others have said, this is NOT the place to stay for a peaceful quiet weekend away. Kids playing in the pool all day long, paper thin walls, and of course bonus for me of noise from the rodeo. I heard my neighbor snoring through the wall at night. Thankfully I read ahead and packed earplugs so that was fine. I didn't want to hang out on my balcony because of the constant music & kid play coming from the pool. Perfectly nice getaway on a budget. I think people with families are a better fit for this resort. And check local events before booking! read more

Located Between 6th and 7th street, and only one block away from the beach, this place is definitely worth a try! Parking is underneath the resort, which is well shaded, gated, and exclusive to resort visitors only. As of 2/8/2021, I have stayed at this resort for a total of 2 stays, each stay lasting two nights. From these two stays, I can firmly say that this hotel resort is one of the CLEANEST, SPACIOUS, and WELCOMING places in the Virginia Beach area. During both of my stays, they had renovations going on in the parking garage, however, they covered it up so well, you barely noticed it. It was well covered with taped tarps so dust wouldn't go everywhere, and that was just for whatever renovations that were going on in the garage. I really appreciated the consideration that was put in. CHECKING IN: Upon checking in both stays, the front desk staff was very polite and professional. They are very thorough with the resort policies and fees, which in my opinion is crucial in making a great first impression, everything was upfront and well stated in a clear and concise manner. There is a large transparent plexiglass wall between you and the staff, which makes it feel safer and cleaner, but does not restrict communication while checking in. The check-in process took roughly 7-10minutes the first time I visited and then maybe around 5-7minutes second stay due to me already being familiar with the policies and fees, so I didn't have to read through every prompt. PARKING: After checking in, I used the keycard to enter the parking garage, where I found plenty of space to park, even for large pick-ups and SUVs. I myself was parking a mid-size SUV and found that there was more than enough space to maneuver and park with ample amount of distance between spaces. THE ROOM: I opted for the 1 king bed, 1 sofa bed room. This room was very clean, spacious, and homey feeling. The room came with 1 king bed, 1 sofa bed, a FULL kitchen, plating for up to 4 people, a washer/dryer combo, a soaking tub, a separate shower, 2 TVs, a view of the pool, climate control, and a FIREPLACE. YES, a FIREPLACE! Considering both of my stays so far have been during January and February, this provided to be one of the biggest highlights for my weekend getaways. No fussing around with lighting the fire, it's as simple as turning the timer on and voila, you've got a fire going on while you watch tv. Upon entering the room with your keycard, you find yourself in the bedroom, which has the king-sized bed, its own tv, two nightstands, a tall mirrored closet, and plenty of space to set your bags down. Both of my rooms came with two luggage racks, an iron and ironing board in the closet. After passing through the bedroom, you'll find yourself in a hallway where you will find the climate control on the wall, the bathroom door, and the washer/dryer closet. The bathroom is very clean, spacious, and well-stocked with towels and toiletries. A small closet that contains a washer/dryer combo with two packets of powdered detergent, which I thought was very well thought out because let's be honest, how often does anyone bring detergent on a weekend getaway? Almost never. Moving on into the kitchen, you'll find plenty of counter space, a full-size refrigerator, stovetop, oven, dishwasher, and a 10 cup coffee maker. All of this is topped with your kitchen needs except for seasoning. You can stay here and not leave, just stock up on some groceries, and voila! Past the kitchen, you'll see the round dining table, sofa, coffee table, and balcony overlooking the pool area. You can fit up to 3 people on the sofa and a single person on the armed chair. Both are very comfortable sitting in for hours just watching tv which is right above the fireplace. The fireplace is just a very rare thing to come by and really makes the place feel very homey. MY REVIEW: Overall, I love this resort! It's very clean, which during the pandemic is SUPER important. I was amazed and very pleased to see that they took into account that even though there are renovations going on, the parking garage should still be well kept with the taped tarp. It wasn't just a pile of construction material lying all over the place, which could be hazardous. The rooms were clean with fresh towels and toiletries. It's spacious, who doesn't like a spacious room? It makes living and staying there easier. You won't feel squished, even if there are four people in there just hanging out. plenty of counter space in the bathroom for everyone's toiletries. Did I mention there are high ceilings? They've got those too. Being cooped up in this room would not be a problem with all the amenities and space. This place is very welcoming. It's got the homey feel to it, the very nice staff all over the place which includes the building engineers! 100% I'd recommend this place to friends and family! I'll be back soon! read more

Meh! Rooms are huge, but that is about the only good thing about this place. It seems that every HGV property in VA Beach suffers from the same Diamond International carry-over issues from when they owned that portfolio of locations. Maintenance and upkeep of the units is not being done and it shows. Traffic on Atlantic Ave can be very noisy and it will come through the units from the front doors. Staff kept leaving the pool area music on all night, which turned into a earworm that did not let us sleep well. Some of the staff was good, but some were kind of nasty to us when we stayed there. Parking garage is very small, so it is quite an experience trying to drive anything through in anything bigger than a mid-size sedan. This is not a good place to stay if you have mobility issues, because there is only one elevator and very few entrance and exit points to get in and out of the property. read more

This was a hidden gem at one point in VA Beach, but since Hilton brough out Daimond I don't know what is going on. I was reading some reviews and construcion to the outside been going on for months, The rooms are out dated and the place is looking like a cheap motel. I think the worst I saw was the light from the pool came loose and electrical sparks was in the water. The put a yellow tape around, So my recommendation is just go and walk around and you will see the problems sad sad was a great resort. read more

My husband and I stood here valentines weekend '19 Everything was going well until I was eaten up by bed bugs. They did a good job of getting things squared away , and giving a full refund which I didn't expect and I appreciate. The place was okay....the room smelled the entire time but it was fairly clean and well stocked. I like that we got to use the amenities at their sister resort across the street. The pools were nice and we used the hot tubs every night of our stay. They staff was great upon arrival. My biggest complaint was while staying they had a fire alarm go off at 12 am and it went off and on for over an hour. Fire trucks and the whole bit showed up. We had 3 small kids, there was no communication on whether to evacuate and it took a long time for the alarm to go off and stay off. When we checked out the next morning they did NOTHING to compensate for this. I think they could have handled the situation a lot better. read more

When I first unlocked the door to my room, I felt like one of those kids from Jimmy Kimmel's sucky Christmas presents video. At first look, it seemed as though my room consisted of just a bed and a small TV, which still managed to consume almost the entire space. It was dark and made me feel claustrophobic... That was until I realized that this was just the bedroom and that there was an entire hallway to discover which took me into essentially my own suite, very much like a condo. Now, I knew that Turtle Cay offered folks a place to stay outside of the typical hotel, but I didn't realize that my one bedroom was actually an entire apartment essentially. There is a full kitchen, stocked with dinnerware and cutlery, an living room with a fireplace. The balcony overlooks the lagoon style pools and hot tubs outside in the shared terrace space, which is gloriously lit, glowing and steamy late into the evening. (Even though it was about 40 degrees that night, you know I had to run outside to take a dip for the novelty of it alone.) Staying at Turtle Cay will definitely provide you with a little more privacy than a hotel, however one of the first signs I saw posted on the premises was the "absolutely no parties" policy...which I can understand. If not, this place would be at risk of becoming an orgy-infested, animal house. Keep in mind however, there is no on-site restaurant, but luckily there are a bunch of restaurants across the street. Btw - that's also where the gym is, which will cost you $5 to use. Not sure what the normal rate is, but since this was the off season, the rate was only $100 a night - which made me think that this would be a great place for a staycation if you live in Virginia Beach year round. read more

When I arrived it was gorgeous! ! The view was superb! I requested a high floor and received it!! However...issues were plentiful! Lamp in room not working, closet door off track and ANTS on the kitchen countertop. I reported these issues to the front desk and someone from engineering arrived 15 mins later. He fixed what was needed and sprayed where the ants were seen. I guess there is no policy surrounding 100% customer service here because The night manager Sarah did not offer another room or suggest anything to make up for the inconvenience. I wake up today and MORE ANTS are on the countertop and stove AND now in the bathroom! !! I reported the issues today to Crystal (manager) and she didn't offer anything either. This was her first time hearing of such an issue and thanked me for letting her know...huh!!!!!! What!!!!! When asked if there is a policy surrounding pest control and customer satisfaction she said no but ill take a percentage off your bill. This first time was very unpleasant! You take time away from home and relax to stay somewhere nice and this is what u get! I am highly disappointed. However, I would recommend you stay here it is nice but this time for me sucked rocks. But as I'm sitting in the parking lot writing the review the manager, Crystal walks up to say the engineer just went to the room and saw it was a lot of ants. Sooooooo I guess me telling her wasn't believable or good enough. Still upset I explained to her my concern on how she handled it...poor customer service to sum it up! So after driving 9 hours we finally check in The lady at the front desk says there is a resort fee My wife says what is that for she begins to tell her for the amenities which is fine but then she goes on to tell me that we share amenities with the beach quarters across the street which is currently under construction and they are closed so we can not use more then half the amenities.so what are we paying for ? so I decided to ask if the manager could get in touch in the rooms there is fireplaces. the check in receipt states if not on call the front desk and they will turn it on. So I do exactly that and they send a guy up . The guy says the gas is off till next week. I'm a plumber and I know we have gas to the water heater and the building so that was a lie why lie ??? why in the ad does it say call and they will turn it on so anyway we to the beach because the kids were very excited and the reason we came to va beach when I got back I noticed that one of the hot tubs was blocked off and the other one was full so waiting for the manager to contact me this is really not diamond resort The amenities missing are marked in the picture I will update after I talk to the manager read more

Nice pool, it's heated, there's two pools one for kids and hot tubs were perfect. I do not care about the contract of the "timeshare" resorts because i booked turtle cay as a HOTEL My room was cleaned everyday but when i got to my room the first day there were DIRTY TOWELS hanging on the bathroom door...Gross. Then i had to call down a couple time to ask for towels and a damn dish towel which comes in the kitchen area for you to clean your dishes..which were provided. We had a two bed standard suite with mini kitchen, sink, microwave and mini fridge. I paid on average $156 a night for 5 nights. Wouldn't stay here again. It was seriously OKAY NO WIFI I WAS DYING And i got into an argument with my older neighbor he wanted my two year old to keep it down... I'm sorry isn't this place FAMILY FRIENDLY? Yuck! Fruit flies in the room. When we saw a cockroach, we asked for a new room. The front desk corrected me. Told me it was a waterbug and this was the time of year they come inside. Where to begin with this place. My girlfriend and I went for the weekend and the first room they gave us smelled of mold, and had dirty dishes on the kitchen counter. The front desk was very accommodating and moved us to another room. Why they would even allow that room to be used is beyond me. The new room was much better, except for the TV in the bedroom in which you could see the LED lights through the screen which made it hard to watch. When we first arrived we were told of the policies regarding smoking, noise ordinance, and the 10pm pool curfew. Both nights consisted of people running down the halls, people yelling, and people smoking pot all after 10pm. We couldn't walk out of our room, at any time, without being hit with the smell of pot. As well as the parking garage. Then someone pulled the fire alarm at 10am Saturday morning. That's what a fireman told me as I exited my room during the alarm. We were actually considering staying another night so my girlfriend called the front desk to ask the rate for another night. The rate was the same and so she asked why. The front desk representative responded with "because the hotel is booked" with a rude tone. On the day of check out we approached the front desk to let them know of what we had to deal with, and her response was if we called security. Ok, first of all its not my job to call security. Policies are in place to protect the customer not catch the customer doing something. Preventive not reactionary is how a policy works. You can say all you want, but actions speak louder than words. When I brought up the fire alarm she told me it was from the restaurant next door, not from the resort. At this time, my girlfriend had to walk out because she couldn't handle the lack of understanding by the hostess. I handed the hostess a piece of paper with my complaints. She takes it back to her manager, then returns and tells me that all of these issues are the resorts fault except for the fire alarm. An awkward pause followed, then ..."Have a nice day". I am a hospitality major with almost 20 years in the industry. I have hotel and restaurant experience. I know what to expect. This place was a shit show. The next night we booked an oceanfront room at the Hyatt House, over looking the water and super clean, for $220.00 (w/ tax and fees). Turtle Cay, not ocean front but had a pool that was too busy with rowdy kids to enjoy, charged us $340.00 a night. (w/ tax and fees) I would give this place half a star if it was an option. I do not recommend this place if you are a couple wanting to enjoy a relaxing beach vacation. But, if you've got your weed, need a place to leave your unruly kids, and like to overpay, then this is the place for you. read more

Wheneva U are in the VA...this is THE place to stay. They have only two styles of rooms. U either stay in their suites or there Penthouse suites. U know I had to stay in both right. Whichever 1 U choose U WILL NOT B DISAPPOINTED. Lets start with the Penthouse - 1st you stroll up these winding stairs to get to the top & OhMyGosh...U feel like u are in a mini manision. Hardwood floors, full kitchen, washer n' dryer, balcony for master bedroom and living room, fireplace with surround sound in living room, jacuzzi tub in both bedrooms. I mean eight people can comfortably sleep in this spot. Now the regular suites are pretty much the same the only difference is that their are no stairs,its only 1 bedroom but the living room couch still lets out into a bed and the balcony is over lookin the pools and outside jacuzzi. & U still got ur fireplace dawg. So there are only 4 Penthouse suites and there at every corner of the resort so u have different views but the balcony for all the rest of the suites are all facing the pool area. The only cons are they only have like two elevators and they are not positioned in the right areas so if your on the third floor u will b truckin the luggage & if u plan on makin that a chill trip uuummmmmm the televisions are outdated (flat screens have spoiled me) but oher than that... We recently stayed at the Turtle Cay Resort for a quick family getaway. We did not want to do the motel or hotel route and wanted to rent a condo/house but we were too last minute. The Turtle Cay Resort was a very nice compromise. The front desk is nice and accomodating. Check-in was a breeze. We have a one bedroom king suite and it was spacious with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, fireplace, and a large balcony with a view of the pool. The living area was nice as well. There was ample closet space and a foyer to put all your sandy items. There was an airy feeling that we didn't feel on top of each other and it was nice to come back from the pool or beach and decompress, take a nap, watch tv, or relax on the balcony with a drink. Housekeeping is extra and we paid for a full cleaning (new towels, vacuum, new linens, etc) and the service did a great job. The website's pictures are current and the rooms and grounds are well-kept. It did not seem like were in the states but in a smaller-scale resort on an island. Well...if you have a vivid imagination like I do :-P The beach is a block away--a five minute walk from room to ocean. The pool is AWESOME. We are beach people but didn't want to spend every day at the beach. The pools are not deep--about five feet at the deepest. There is no lifeguard but the pools are kept clean and were never over-crowded. Guests start putting towels on beach chairs around 8am and there seems to be a lack of seating. All of the guests were laid-back and friendly and it seemed like people were just there to relax and enjoy their vacations. We didn't hear any complaints or ruckus. It was quiet at night (and not even that noisy during the day)even though the resort was fully booked. Soft music played throughout the day to play more into the resort theme. Parking is underground but be careful that the spots fill up quickly after the vening when people come back from their day excursions. I don't know what the alternate parking is so ask the front desk. We had a wonderful stay at Turtle Cay and are happy we stayed on the quieter end of the Boardwalk. I called the front desk twice to inform them of the couple and the clerk said she would send someone out. No one ever came out to address the issue. I waited a total of 30 mins. This time everyone could see the full extent of what was happening. This place is the shizznet!! I love it. The location is perfect. It is far enough away from the night life but close enough to walk to if you wanted. The staff is top notch and very accommodating. We went to the pool yesterday and it was perfect for kids. My 5 year old could run around the pool with no issues. Sunny side breakfast is right around the corner. Here we go... Military family that had to move across the country to Virginia Beach. We found a GREAT deal on a king bed studio room. It was AWESOME! --Spacious room with a full kitchen (with an actual oven, none of that half-stove business) really helped keep the costs manageable in the area. The kitchen comes with all kinds of useful stuff to cook, eat, and work with. --Great location. As a family we had access to tons of food (you gotta check out Planet Pizza down the street), the beach and the night life if your into that sort of thing. --Laundry. Our room had a stacked washer/dryer unit in the room hidden behind some sliding doors. AMAZING FEATURE! Talk about saving us some hassle. Loved it. I would get the room again just for having a washer/dryer unit in the room! :) --Room service. You have to pay for actual cleaning, but they do come in and give new linens, take your trash, and do other basic services for no cost. I wasn't impressed with the services we received in the room, but I still tipped at the end of our stay. The biggest issue I had was consistency. --The staff? Awesome. So yeah... if you need a great place to crash? This is the one. read more

We've never been to Virginia Beach and chose the Turtle Cay because of its close proximity to the beach and the heated pools. The price was also within our budget. The staff at the front desk was extremely courteous and helpful. They upgraded us from a 2 queen bedroom to a king suite without even asking. The room and property was clean and provided all the amenities we expected. Great place for a nice getaway. read more

Great resort and very family oriented place. We used a exchange on our timeshare to come here, after coming to Virginia beach many many times and just because it is not on the ocean it's well worth the stay. Spacious room and very nice, especially the kitchen and the living area. The wifi is not very good but on a beach vacation it's not that big of a issue. They do exchange your towels 1 time during a week but no free housekeeping but that's how timeshare resorts work, but they do provide you a broom mop and vacuum cleaner so pick up after yourself and your family and friends will love it here too. Pool and hot tubs are very nice and well maintained! read more

Beautiful hotel/resort. My boyfriend and I have been several times for "staycations" and have never been disappointed. It has everything we need in the room to make our stay comfortable. We love the TV over the fireplace where we can sit and watch movies while cuddling up to a warm fire. read more
