I'm writing this review as I'm walking out the door. My experience at this massage establishment was absolutely awful. If I could give it zero stars I would. I walked in for a quick 30 min massage. They said they had availability and took me into a room. As the lady was 10 minutes into my massage I hear what seems to be the manager on the phone enter my room. She taps me on the head in the middle of my massage and asks if I had an appointment. I was so shocked and startled. I said no and she told me "you have 15 min, ok". She walked out while still be on the phone. This gagged me. I told her she was so rude for interrupting a massage that was already in progress. I paid and left and Im fuming at my experience. This is a place you can go last minute and get a quick and affordable massage. They don't ask questions about pressure or style and you're just in and out. It's also $55 for an hour long massage though and you can do smaller 10 or 20 minute increments. Overall I liked it and felt it was a good deal and will be back. Some negatives are they answered a few phone calls while I was getting a massage. It was the same person working the front as giving the massage so answered two calls and also stopped and went in front when someone arrived. The massage was decent but the customer service when checking out was shockingly rude. Before I even had a chance to take the tip money from my wallet, the massage therapist started demanding a 20% tip. She stood at the front desk repeating the words 20% over and over. She was unrelenting. 20% was what I was planning on tipping but her behavior was so unprofessional and rude that she ended up with less of a tip. Tipping is not mandatory and is at the discretion of the customer. It's not to be demanded and certainly not to be demanded in such an aggressive way. I felt harassed. If this is something that doesn't bother you, you may still want to check this place out because other than that unfortunate situation, the massage itself was fine. read more

Not a place to go for a relaxing message. The noise, phone ringing, people coming in and out and the talking never stops. The massage therapist had no idea what she was doing. She was pusing down on my knees and moving my kneecaps and I had to tell her no to not do that. And yes just like everyone else has written about on the reviews, they demand a 20% tip for a service that does not warrant a 20% tip. I am definitely not going back there again! read more

I'm so upset with this place. I'm a loyal customer for a year and a half. I have been forgiving them a lot of things they are lacking in the matter of ambiance and customer service. But my last 5(!) times (yes, I was giving benefit of a doubt for too many times), the experience was RIDICULOUS! For each one of those times, my masseuse was holding a phone and responding to calls DURING my massage, while keep massaging me with one hand! Then she would leave to the front desk to write a note, and return to me, without washing hands, and continuing the massage. Of course, not adding those 5-10 minutes to my one hour massage. Not that this only takes away relaxation aspect, is is also unhealthy to get this hot and cold treatment for your spine. They rubbing it out to get to the trigger point and to massage them. Instead she would warm me up, accept the call, talk in my ear, and then leave, while I'm getting cold and uncomfortable. I'm just shocked that it happened 5 times in a row! Literally every time I return to this place, the same sh*t happens. Maybe it's bc they know I'm returning customer, they feel comfortable around me to do these sort of things. Very upsetting. 3 stars because I've gotten some really amazing, affordable massages here. They are for the most part flexible with timing. The reason I knocked off two stars is because recently they hired this new woman who is extremely rude. Last time I was there, she gave me a massage and clambered onto the top of the back of my legs and kept harshly stepping on me with her feet. I feel like this is common practice for certain styles/cultures of massaging, but this lady gave me no warning or heads up before aggressively standing on my legs (which could very easily hurt someone if they were sore/don't have the strength to hold someone up). Because of this, I gave her a 18% tip (when I usually give out 20-25% for massages) and promptly dismissed me with silence, a glare, no thank you/no goodbye. Extremely unwelcoming attitude. When I called again next time, hoping to get a different masseuse as I've gotten great ones in the past, a woman picked up and when I asked if I could do 6:30-7:30 because I had an appointment at 8, she said she could do 7:45. I explained I couldn't and she said, I could do it for half an hour. I reiterated that the timing did not work out for me, and I would've been fine if she said sorry we don't have availability then tonight or we can reschedule to a different day, but she just hung up on me. Not sure who this new lady is, but she's made my last two interactions at ocean spa not a pleasant place to be. Since then, they've lost my business here and I attend Lee spa (both locations) now, which is just as affordable and super friendly people. read more

I feel like this place could be great. It has nice music, a calming environment nice and dimly lit. I took my mom for her birthday, we got full body massages. The prices were fair, especially for LIC, however there were some things I was a little surprised by. To start we got the full body and added aromatherapy to the massages - I didn't smell any aromatherapy in fact the massage itself felt kind of dry I didn't feel like they used it, almost like they skimped out on it. My mom did love it and felt that the massage was very relaxing, to me I've definitely had better. Also what the other reviews said are true, they do push for you to tip them after and I was generous with mine but I get the feeling that if I wasn't they would have had plenty to say. read more

I have been going to San .Juan. Still like them. But I also wanted a facial with a massage so picked this one out. So glad I did. Hands down the best back and neck massage ever. I was a bit awkward in the beginning because I didn't expect a male therapist. But the massage was so good I forgot about it. The facial was okay compared to the massage it took second place. Found this gem of a place while I was searching for massage places nearby on Google Maps. I made an appointment through their website hoping for a 60 min body massage the same day. I was pleased when I received an email a few hours later confirming my appointment time. When I arrived I was greeted by two lovely people. At first they didn't understand that I had made the appointment online. They were thinking I was a walk in and were explaining they were pretty busy at that time but the man went to make a phone call and told me to wait. I pulled up my confirmation email and they realized that I was actually on their schedule (yay!) The spa is on the basement floor, pretty tight space but they gave me a room towards the back which was nice. They let me get ready and the male came in to do the massage. He was absolutely so professional and gave me one of the best massages I've ever had. Work has been pretty physically demanding (and mentally draining) so I definitely had a lot of tension and tightness on my back, calves, and feet. I was extremely pleased with his service and gave him a nice tip for it. The staff there are so friendly and polite. They gave me a water bottle and stamp card while I was checking out. My only issue was that since the rooms are divided by curtains and walls that don't fully reach the ceiling, it's easy to hear noises from the room. This group of girls had come in towards the end of my session who were extremely loud and laughing as they were waiting for their turn. Honestly took away the relaxing vibe. Luckily it was at the end of my hour anyway. Otherwise, I was very happy with my experience there, the price is reasonable (about $60 for 60 min massage) and I will definitely be going back! read more

We showed up on time, the place was clean, the employees were kind, professional and great at their job. The man who did our massages, was fantastic. I purchased a gift card online for my mom after speaking to someone from Ocean Healing Spa over the phone. The person said they would email me an e-gift card that I could send to my mom since I live out of NYC. After purchasing said gift card online, I received nothing from Ocean Healing Spa. Then I called them 5x over the course of two days, and every time I mentioned the word "gift card" they hung up the phone immediately. What the heck? So now I am out $60. THE BEST SPA EVER!!! Five-Star rated but I would give 10's if I could. The spa is very clean and quiet. The staff is very knowledgeable and extremely professional. Week 1 I went two days in a row because my neck and back locked up from too many knots. Day # 1 The first 30-minute visit yielded great results. I was greeted by a male massage therapist that worked out the bigger knots, then Mary came in for the remainder of the massage. Mary is very sweet, strong, and wise. Her massage techniques are very effective in ridding the body of tension. I felt so much better I booked another massage for the following day. Day #2 The second 30-minute massage yielded more success in getting rid of knots. Mary was my massage therapist again, and she worked on my back and shoulders. She used hot stones to help loosen the remaining knots. My neck is able to move more freely and my back is still tight but I'm able to move my shoulders without pain. I am scheduled for another two days in a row 30-minute massages. I look forward to seeing Mary again. If you're not from New York (not sure of the average pricing in NY), this place offers an amazing deep tissue massage with hot stones for an amazing price (45 minute massage for $45)! This was an AMAZING massage, my massage therapist was named "Nancy". She was very detailed, and ensured to release all of the tension in my neck, upper back, and lower back. She also worked out both my hamstrings and my quads! This massage was perfect. I booked for an hour and after that I did not want to get off the table! It was great. I walked in with extreme back pain and very tight muscles and walked out with a whole new body, after a 30 minute incredible massage - walking straighter and being able to take a deep breath again. It was very thorough, very even, just the right pressure and they use really warm stones which everyone should use! It's a very nice atmosphere and quiet, however the rooms are not completely private as they all share the same space with dividers that don't go up to the ceiling. But it's still very private within your own room. Nice calm music too. Treat yourself after a hard work week even if you aren't in any pain but then again we all walk the streets of New York and deserve a great body massage. read more

Wow. This is hands down the best massage I've gotten in my life. I have suffered from extreme back pain for a decade and this is the 1st time I feel completely relieved.
