And now I substitute teach at the school and assist my trainers. The school has evolved as well, uses computers and yes, indeed, credit cards! (Just bear with me when I'm doing intake!) Briefly we even had some water bottles left over from the Anniversary, but don't worry, they were not replaced once we sold out. Firstly, the space has an incredible energy, as do the instructors. It feels clean, fresh, open, and is filled with the gentle scent of tea tree oil. The space is flooded with light. You can tell all the instructors are quite dedicated to their practice. I also see they are have put quite an effort into accommodating their students in these changing times and all classes are offered via Zoom. It is a noble effort. That being said, there is a large screen in the middle of the studio, they might consider changing to a projection/screen setup to make more floor space, but again, I think they are indeed doing an excellent job and their best to continue to offer yoga instruction to individuals who are unable to come in person. We are all doing our best do adjust in these difficult times and there are no best solutions. The current setup leaves the instructor a bit more focus on their Zoom students rather than their in person students (in my opinion), but they are really making an effort to accommodate both. I find that the classes are not as mentally, spiritually, or physically demanding as I would typically prefer. I hope they might consider challenging their students a bit moving forward. They might be more of a "beginner" crowd for now, but if you don't give them an opportunity or vision of growth, they might not be able to reach their full potential. These beginner students might not be familiar with the full expression of a pose, but they don't have the opportunity to get there if you do not show/teach them. For the classes I have been to, there isn't too much of a focus on the breath as a central part of the yoga practice. There is no meditation, prayer or reading before/after class or intention setting. Classes are well structured, well taught, and instructors are indeed concerned with their students. Due to the Zoom aspect, there is limited adjustment. This studio indeed brings a spiritual aspect to the way they practice, and the teachers are all well qualified. I hope they find a way to accommodate more advanced practitioners, by providing options during all level classes for example, or helping their "beginner" students further develop and go deeper into their practice. I see they are teaching to "the level presented to them". I hope they will consider challenging this level.

I have tried almost all of their instructors at this point & I love how each of them are different but all have the same general methods of teaching. It's a really small studio but I love that about it. I also love that they offer virtual classes so I can squeeze in a class between meetings or when traveling. I highly recommend UWS yoga!

I always recommend Bode to everyone I know because it does wonders for the body and mind. I often go through Class pass for my class as I always have credits. And in the past they would have class specials during the holidays so I would also purchase those passes. I usually bring my own mat and towels. She offers classes that are inclusive, accessible and yet challenging. Her system of signing up for classes in advance (at least 12 hours before the class starts) is great! It really works! It holds you accountable for scheduling when you will exercise, showing up and not coming up with excuses of why not to come. This has been one of the key factors to my success at NuYu. The studio is amazing- it's a beautiful space. All the equipment is provided (weights, yoga mats, towels etc) so all you have to do is show up. There is even coffee and tea! During Covid, she started live-streaming the classes. She has done an incredible job making this work. I get a great workout from home and feel connected to the teachers and fellow students, even though we aren't in person together. The teachers are terrific. They really get to know you and can work with any physical issue you may have. Everyone who comes is valued. It really is a warm and caring environment. I can't recommend it enough! I love NuYu!

I practice Yin/Restorative, and those classes are way harder to find just in my own community, so I am so appreciative when I find a cool place on ClassPass. Logistically, I appreciated their excellent communication digitally and timely reminders with the class link. In the wonderful world of online classes, some studios just do not have it together, but NY Loves Yoga does. Marcy's Yin class was small and more interactive than the average class. Everyone has their camera on and she will verbally make personalized suggestions and interact with you. Some online classes are more geared towards your camera being off and just blending in, so if that's what you're looking for, just FYI that this isn't it. After class, I had a lovely quick chat with Marcy. She is a super kind person and gave me great suggestions for other classes to try online with NY Loves Yoga. I truly hope I get the chance to visit in-person here in the future. The photos on their social media show a completely enchanting, cozy space that I would never guess is in the hustle and bustle of NY. This was a wonderful class and I'd absolutely recommend this spot!
