Joining NuYu was one of the best decisions I have made. Susan, the owner, really understands peoples' resistance to exercising and the road blocks that get in the way. She offers classes that are inclusive, accessible and yet challenging. Her system of signing up for classes in advance (at least 12 hours before the class starts) is great! It really works! It holds you accountable for scheduling when you will exercise, showing up and not coming up with excuses of why not to come. This has been one of the key factors to my success at NuYu. The studio is amazing- it's a beautiful space. All the equipment is provided (weights, yoga mats, towels etc) so all you have to do is show up. There is even coffee and tea! During Covid, she started live-streaming the classes. She has done an incredible job making this work. I get a great workout from home and feel connected to the teachers and fellow students, even though we aren't in person together. The teachers are terrific. They really get to know you and can work with any physical issue you may have. Everyone who comes is valued. It really is a warm and caring environment. I can't recommend it enough! Went for the first time 3 years ago and found it unnecessarily pretentious. Tried to go again as only one open on A snowy Saturday but arrived 10 min late. I have been going to NUYU Revolution for the past six weeks. I am so grateful for this place. Clean(which is super important to me), beautiful(love the frenchy feel) and excellent teachers (Mike being one of my favorites), it is becoming my home away from home. Yes, the emphasis is on taking care of yourself, which is what I need right now. I have not exercised regularly for about 5 years now and of course gained weight. I am very hard on myself and NUYU is teaching me to just show up and let them guide me. They really do care. I do live only two blocks away and by purchasing a package I am held accountable and really have no excuses. This could not have been made any easier. im 60 in decent shape but with lower back problems. susan listened to me and recommended a mixture of yago and pilates and core strengthening. its been almost 3 weeks and its already helping a little- im hoping to continue and get more relief. the space is quiet, clean and relaxing. definitely worth a try. read more

NuYu Revolution is an amazing find! The experience begins as you enter the building - the entrance warm, welcoming, beautifully maintained and pleasant. Once inside, you have an immediate sense of well-being. The class rooms are immaculate, orderly, and set-up with the equipment you need. It's hard to put into words what is different about NuYu, since I don't have alot of gym experience to compare it to. In fact, until last year I didn't exercise regularly at all. What I like the most about NuYu is how supportive an environment it is without being condescending. It has always been a put-off for me with gyms in general how I feel much more out of shape surrounded by extremely fit people who apparently spend all their free time working out. At NuYu, it's OK not to be this way. The focus seems to be much more reasonable for non-gym rats like me, celebrating progress and form more than specific results. Even though I am only 25, I have had back problems all my life. My chiropractor suggested I join a gym. Since I am overweight, I am intimidated by the gorgeous bodies at the gym. I live in Austin, but I am working on a project in NYC for the next three months. When I saw NuYu Revolutions ad, since it is small, I thought I would give it a try. I LOVE it and made the comittment to go 4 times a week! My doctor is excited and so am I. This place is a gem!! I cannot rave enough about Susan and NuYu Revolution. I have been going to pilates and yoga classes here regularly for almost a year. The level 3 classes are quite challenging, but, because of the caring environment, they are always enjoyable. Here, I am treated with a kind of personal attention, kindness and humor that is unlike other gyms or yoga/pilates studios in NYC. The studio has a personal feel and the teachers and staff are committed to making excercise a healthy and enjoyable part of your life. I really enjoy the gym and classes--and have made NuYu a part of my daily life. Each teacher has a very different feel and the teachers design the class the way the want. It is important to test out the various teachers and find what works with your style and goals. The owner, Susan, is personable and truly devoted to helping you become a healthier person. There are policies that take some adjustment, but are designed to make fitness a commitment. You sign up for classes in advance (ideally 12 hours)-- which I love and sometimes hate on those rainy days. I also know that this means I will have a space in the class. NuYu has been one of the best investments I've made in myself. I joined in May 2018, beginning from a place of anxiety about gyms and a not-so-great relationship with fitness. I am now in a wildly different place - stronger, fitter, more energized, more confident, and finding myself being pushed in new ways during classes now that fitness has become seamlessly woven into the fabric of my everyday life. Susan and her staff are warm, welcoming, attentive, and strike the perfect balance between support and challenge. They know their members and what each person needs at any given point in time. This place is beyond good. Cycling, yoga, and Pilates all in one place...amazing (And more, but those are my things). The instructors really care about you and making sure you are getting the most out of the workout without hurting yourself. That is not true of many places. Finding this place has been life changing for me. I've attempted to develop a yoga practice so many times over the years and have never been able to make it stick. Either the teachers didn't engage me, the classes were too crowded, or the atmosphere just didn't feel right. Recenty I found myself injured and unable to run my usual 20 miles/week. I am not one to leave reviews, but when you find a gem, you need to share.  I've been coming to NuYu for the past 8 months.  As a busy mother of 3 who works full time, taking care of myself falls to the bottom of the list.  I was embarrassed to go to the "classic gym" in the city having not worked out in years in spite of being a former avid runner.  I was afraid of the fishbowl gym.  I just happened upon NuYu Revolution and felt right at home there.  There is zero judgement passed, and the classes are cozy and personal.  The instructors meet you where you're at, taking into account your individual goals.  I am able to use my breath more throughout my workday, I pay attention to my posture, and I activate muscles throughout my day that I didn't even know I had.  I have so much more body awareness.  The instructors and other clients are super friendly.  I can no longer run because of my knees and have discovered alternatives there like spinning, pilates, and yoga (classes I never tried before).  You can feel comfy here trying out a new form of exercise without feeling foolish.  It is a true oasis in the city. read more

I've had a lot of trouble staying with an exercise regime and NuYu seems to have solved my problem! It's a neighborhood place and while it is super serious about health and fitness, no one ever takes themselves too seriously. We have fun while we work, the atmosphere is completely non-competitive, and the variety is enough to keep me interested and coming back for more. It did take me a moment to adjust to the "rules" but in the end it was nothing and the pay-off has been a renewed commitment to regular exercise, a much "tighter" body, and an hour four or five times a week that I really really look forward to. This is a wonderful, personal, no-stress gym, and it has changed my life. I used to run, until my knees started giving me problems. Then I tried walking, but didn't like doing it in the cold weather. At NuYu I found cycling and I LOVE it. I love the challenge, the music, the instructors, the friendly atmosphere and the fact that it is giving me a body that is better than my younger self.
