We've had the chance to take classes both in the mornings and evenings, and have likely practiced with most of their instructors at least once. The class schedule is great, and with our membership, booking spots for the high-demand classes isn't a hassle. We've had no trouble getting off the waitlist for early morning sessions either. All of the instructors have been friendly and excellent to work with, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Even when classes are full, the space doesn't feel too cramped, which makes for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. We highly recommend this location!

I've seen people of all body-types, all genders, all ages, and all races at Spiritlab. Everyone is accepted. The 26&2 teachers are top notch. There is not one bad teacher. I've learned helpful things from each and every one of them. I also took the 26&2 fall training last year and if you want to learn how to teach, it's a great experience. Spiritlab is like my second home and I feel that I am very lucky to be a part of it.

After a quick bag search, I went upstairs to the women's locker room which was cleaner than expected. Staff were nice in reminding us to lock up our stuff. As a former competitive swimmer, it was extremely difficult to do flip turns, not only because they closed half of the pool horizontally due to lifeguard staffing issues, but also because there were multiple people moving in different directions. It was busy when it first opened in the morning but then calm downed a bit and folks were able to do more lap swimming. Water was pretty clean and temperature was good; chlorine levels weren't too bad. Sounds like they close for the fall/winter so I'm hoping to come back before it gets cold.

To be fair, I have been to this studio many times for the past couple years and most of the times I left with pleasurable experience and a good workout. There were instructors that I absolutely loved such as Debbie, but today was not one of those days. I went to a class taught by Victoria and it will probably be the last time I will be visiting this studio. Firstly, she checked everyone's equipment other than mine so I had to work out with a setting that was not fit for my height. I had to ask her to come check since for some reason, she only spent with other students in the class. Secondly, she did not come check my posture ONCE. I've never been at a class where the instructor does not check on her students. The worst part was the she checked everyone else's other than mine. She just did not. Lastly, when I told the studio about it, they did apologize and told me that they will have the owner call me. About 15 minutes later, the person who was at the check-in counter called me and told me that "there are still students that like her class." I find a few things wrong with this. I am also Asian and my English is not perfect but when you have a customer complaining, it should be the owner calling to explain the situation not a person who is not fluent in English because she did not know how to relay the message to me or help me understand what the options were. She simply said there is nothing that could be done. I have lived in New York for the past 13 years, and I don't respect people who falsely accuse others of being racially discriminatory. However, when race/ethnicity is the only apparent difference between myself and others, I don't have other options than to think that I was being discriminated because I am Asian. It is not fair for anyone to have spent the time and money to work out and leaving like I did today. read more

The teachers at Body Evolutions are unlike any I have ever worked with before! Their true passion and dedication to the betterment of their clients is beautifully apparent. I took my first-ever solidcore class and let's just say... it absolutely worked me, in the best way…read morepossible. My hamstrings are still sending strongly worded complaints, but I'm grateful nonetheless. This workout is no joke. It's solid, it's intense, and it lives up to the name in every way. The facility itself is clean, modern, and well-organized. Entry requires a code, which adds an extra layer of security and makes everything feel very streamlined. One thing to note: solidcore has a strict late and cancellation policy, so plan accordingly and arrive on time--no cutting corners here (they don't believe in shortcuts, and neither will your muscles). I took the starter class, which I highly recommend for first-timers. I've done Pilates before, but this is a whole different ballgame--same general idea, completely different level of intensity. The instructor did a great job explaining the movements and setting expectations, while still pushing us to our limits. You will be sore. You will shake. But you'll also leave feeling accomplished and weirdly proud of yourself for surviving. It's the kind of workout that kicks your butt, humbles you, and makes you think, "That was brutal... when can I come back?" If you're ready for a challenge and want a workout that truly delivers, solidcore is absolutely worth it.

Also- I had a friend in town and she wanted to book from class pass and the system showed booked and there were 4 spots open in class and they wouldn't book her. Then I found out as a member, I am allowed to bring guests which the unfriendly front desk person did not accommodate.

The floor was ice cold. I kept my socks on during class and my toes were still numb. I had to wear my hoodie during the entire class. I also had to lay a blanket over my mat during class. The window in the back was letting in a draft and I could feel it a few feet away. I could not focus on the class and so this class was not as restorative as I would have liked. Unsure if I would come back if this is how unregulated the temperature is all the time. I can only imagine that the summer must be stifling hot. FYI, The studio is up a flight of stairs, if stairs are an issue for you.

The classes are 45 minutes and limited to five people. I felt like the 45 minutes wasn't enough since the teachers were racing through to make sure we worked out our core, arms and legs. If I didn't get a deal, the classes are pretty expensive - $40 each, especially for only 45 minutes. Also one of the instructors used to teach downtown at another studio which was much cheaper - like 25 per class which was an hour and an apparatus class. I think the $40 price tag is too high for this place, especially compared to alot of other pilates studios in NYC.

And then, last year when I was recovering from a knee injury and a sore neck, I went back to Terese after months of absence. Privates with her have been great. Her deep knowledge of joints and movement meant she could easily find adjustments to so many of the Pilates exercises that I thought I'd have to give up. She was sweet, understanding and dedicated to my recovery. I highly recommend Riverview Pilates for both beginners and advanced enthusiasts.
