I attended a women's christian conference at Ocean Center last weekend. There was a huge sign outside directing everyone to the entry door with bathrooms to the right as soon as we walked in. I hopped in the long line which moved very quickly. I had my QR code ready for scanning. I waited roughly 5-7 minutes to get inside the large conference room. Not bad! I found my group and took a seat. There was a large stage where the worship team lead us in praise music. Priscilla Shirer had a smaller stage built out in front of the original stage which put her closer to the audience. I thought this was a nice touch! I pre-ordered the box lunch as I didn't want to leave the conference center to find food. Or be tempted to buy junk food at the conference center food stands. When we broke for lunch I got in line to pick up my box lunch and bottled water. Once again I had my QR code ready. I waited roughly five minutes in this line. My friends and I took our lunches outside and found some shade. I enjoyed a Boar's Head turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato and cheese. There were mayonnaise and mustard packets in the box, plus a bag of plain kettle chips and a small soft chocolate chip cookie. The lunch was pricey at $22, but it was worth having it prearranged. And it was a decent meal. I enjoyed my time in Ocean Center and would definitely attend another event! read more

We came here with some friends to attend the Bert Kreischer's Full Throttle Festival presented by Mando. Ticket prices started at $75 GA, $250 for VIP, and over $1,000 for Platinum. Parking was $15 in one of the local parking garages and overflow area. The event stated the doors were to open at 6pm but staff did not let anyone in until 7pm. Once we got in, we noticed there was no seating anywhere in the center except for right up in front of the main stage and that was for platinum guests. There were some seating and tall boy tables in the corridors and lobby area outside of the main event area. VIP and Platinum had their own restrooms and bartenders which was nice; however, if you were VIP or Platinum you needed to leave the main event area and go back out to the hallway and lobby to get drinks. The bar by the stage was purchase only and not included with their package. The food here was absolute crap. It all sounded wonderful from the advertisements and when reading the menu but everything was cooked hours ahead of time, was wrapped in aluminum foil and kept in bus bins. None of the food was hot or cold, just room temp. We came hungry thinking there would be plenty of hot fresh food being made by vendors but everything had been sitting around since 3pm, gross!! We broke down and got a hot dog with pulled pork with a bag of chips and split it ($14), fingers crossed we wouldn't get food poisoning. Drink pricing was outrageous. $5.50 for canned water and soda, $13 for a 12oz beer, $13 for Hard Lemonade, $18 for specialty cocktails. The only saving grace is that the bartenders poured heavy, so thank you for that. The vendors were not really offering any samples or anything just a bunch of tchotchkes we didn't need and you had to scan a QR code and sign up for every single one if you wanted anything, why bother; my email is already full, no thank you! The comedy was just Ok, we thought Bert would have performed something new but he just did the whole 'Machine' skit again, if you know it, its long and if you already heard it several times and seen the movie, it's funny but we need something new brother! The DJs weren't really my thing but they did bring the party to the younger crowd. Ernest-Ernest and Lynyrd Skynyrd's performances were phenomenal. These two bands just made my night. The sound was better than expected especially with all the hard surfaces and concrete floors, I was a bit worried. If we could do this all over again, I would eat good meal before coming here and just show up an hour before the bands start because the rest of the time we were just standing around for what seemed like forever. read more

This is obviously an old venue. The wifi was nonexistent so I couldn't pull up my electronic ticket. There's no place to set down a plate so why bother having food vendors. We ended up sitting on the dirty floor to eat. Little wonder I was sick for a week after attending a fest there. read more

We came here for an event and the parking is a walk to a building next door and charged $15, which is ridiculous as the event tickets were already starting at $75! Staff was friendly and bathrooms were kept nice. Sound at the event was great. read more

This is a nice, large, well-located venue for events. During the past few years, I've been here twice and both times it was a good experience. This most recent visit, I learned that there is a parking garage nearby. That particular evening the rate was $15, however, I'm not sure if that is the normal rate. read more

I attended a weightlifting competition here and the facilities are well maintained, and the large hall was great for the competition and for the associated vendors. Restrooms were well taken care of, trash taken out in a timely manner, and plenty of security on the premises. While we were there the center also hosted a cheerleading or dance competition of some sort and it had ample space for both events. read more

First timer. Parking is tough. Use a private lot and pay then walk a block or two. We entered on south side. Peabody across the street had simultaneous event so busy but there is a drop at door option for both venues -- do it early to avoid traffic. Decent security to enter. Officials roamed during the performance and quickly abated any disruptions. A big question was would there be food and bev available. The website is extremely unclear so our group wasn't sure. As it turned out, yes. Full bar, beer & wine along with concert food. Second floor concessions as well. Pricey of course. Second floor is mainly stair access with elevators available. Seating is interesting. Recommend researching online seating charts for view worthiness. Plenty of balcony handicap available. It was hard to actually buy a preferred seat like you would say on a plane but we did pretty well. We were on second tier so nice angle. Floor seating close to the stage is the only intimate spot to watch if that's the entertainment config. for the event. They used a Jumbotron giving the audience a close up to the show. This worked ok but you may be disappointed if you prefer a more intimate, feel the room kind of performance. read more

I was at the Ocean Center for a fundraiser. I was extremely impressed with the drinks, the food, and most especially the staff. The staff was kind and courteous, and actually made you feel like they wanted to be there. This also included the valet parking guys. They, too, were a hoot to talk to, and we are so very nice. This was my first time at this venue and we were here for a competition. My youngest child had me bring them to support friends of theirs whose school was there being represented. Like all these venues parking cost money and the tickets to get into anything are not inexpensive. On the plus side we were able to park very easily and just walk across the street to get in. We had a short wait to enter the auditorium area between rounds and we wanted about while my child look for anyone they knew in the crowd. As my dinner time was going to fall while we were inside I was glad that they had some actual food available and I stopped to talk to a couple of the employees to get some information about items offered because I am limited in some of the foods that I can eat. As it turned out I could enjoy a good deal of what they had. If you've been to these types of places then you know that food is never cheap but can be of really good quality. I felt that this was a bit more middle of the road but when I ate I was satisfied with what I had. The setup and the auditorium worked really well. Overall I have to say it's a pretty decent venue with some very good employees who were very friendly and helpful in multiple areas. I would definitely look forward to coming back again. read more

Great layout, fully handicap accessible. Drive up here for the Daytona Boat Show. The show was disappointing but the facilities were great. We paid for parking but it looks like there was plenty of free parking in the back. Restrooms were very very clean, lots of staff to help you find your way around and overall impressive facility. read more

I came back for the Usher concert. Thank you 97.9 for giving us these awesome FREE tickets on the floor! Woot! (Now if I wasn't lagging to leave town, we would have actually had a nicer view.. ::sigh::) The place still felt pretty small but that only meant Usher was a lot closer to us in the back. Hooray! The three TV's once again came in handy for when I couldn't see past the tall peoples' heads in front of me. The sound system was decent, but Usher looked pissed at one point. Great turn out. Teams are doing amazing. Facilities are very clean. Easy to walk between courts. One complain, no drink/water stations anywhere for the players. Then sports drinks and water vendors charge $5 per bottle. This is wrong. read more

I was helping my wife for the junior league set up for the Daddy Daughter Sweetheart Ball this weekend. Over the years my wife and I have attended many events at the Ocean Center really had no true interaction with the staff for the facility. During the all day setup the staff was absolutely incredible answering our questions, if they didn't know the answer then they found the right person who could assist us. The beginning of the day we had the pleasure of working with Betty and Linda, they are the kindest, sweetest and helpful women thank you Betty and Linda for all your help. Then we had the pleasure of working with Marsh in the evening who were also amazing answering our questions and helping us with anything we needed. After setup Friday night my wife and her friend had a room at the Hilton so instead of using the over priced valet parking $40 a night at the Hilton, they parked in the parking garage right across the street. As they were getting ready to walk to the Hilton, from the Ocean Center Marsh gave them a ride to the Hilton since it was really late and honestly that area gets sketchy after dark. As a husband thank you for taking the time out of your evening and giving all the girls a ride!!! Thanks to Convention Center employees who allowed outside food and water for the 2019 JROTC Drill Competition in May. I understand you make money on concessions, but all the schools are on very limited budgets set by their sponsoring service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines). There's also fund raising but every dollar saved here can be spent on uniforms, equipment, etc. We consider your accomodation in this regard as a donation to our program. Pretty average overall The ocean center is the all-in-one performing arts center in Daytona Beach. Naturally, I went there for a high school graduation. It wasn't a bad place per se, but I just found the whole place to have a dingy look to it, and the fact that it was off of A1A just seemed to make it worse. The Good: Not just big?: The ocean center is one of the biggest venues I have ever been to. It's just too bad that it only has 10,000 seating capacity. I mean, i really would have thought that it would seat 15 just looking at it. But hey what do I know? The Bad: Nothing going on?: When I started writing this, I was fairly sure that there were quite a few concerts and such. I mean that's how it used to be... But alas, the only things on the calendar are a snake show and a dancing show?? Ugh. Sounds laaame. I guess I've been living in an alternate universe? Getting in: Getting into the ocean center is a real nightmare. First of all, it is crazy trying to get there from A1A. Next, there are waaay too few doors. I feel like this is just an accident waiting to happen. But then again if all they have there a snake show and dancing competition then I'm not all *that* concerned The Ocean Center seems like it is yet another piece of Daytona shoreline whose time has passed. I was there for a volleyball tournament. Everything was neat and well kept. Bathrooms were not hard to find and courts kept up well. Staff was friendly, plenty of room to walk between courts. Were as timely as possible for a volleyball tournament, and the games were organized well. There was guys and girls playing at the tournament and on all the courts, but they still did exceptionally well at getting the nets the right height. read more

I've seen the LSO, Tool, and a high school graduation here. Such a variety of completely different things, all in one venue! The place is not bad. Not your huge, get lost and never find your friends again venue, but a decent size for Daytona. Acoustics for music were pretty good. It's been quite a few years, but I do remember having a good time. The graduation was more recent, and we sat up top, but could still see/hear what we needed. Parking garage is a nice, handy place to park and cross the street, depending on the event, the traffic does get a bit crazy though. All the touristy places are just across the road as well, if you were looking for a quick drink or walk on the beach. read more

This is an older event center. It has all the amenities of a regular convention center. Is smaller than most convention centers. But the car parking garage is directly across from the center. The garage is connected to an overpass so you can go toward the beach. Across from the event center are multiple hotels and a tourist area with shops and entertainment stage. The event I went to was small, But was well-run at this event center. It was easy to find, and the staff was helpful. read more
