The first date we set was rained out, so we had to reschedule. He had an opening before the rescheduled date, so it got done sooner than expected! It was a good value and they were incredibly efficient. Three guys, three ladders, countless cutting machines, and a chipper... so, a good size job. We are so lucky!! Our neighbor needed to have her tree removed due to roots invading the house foundation. We got to watch Justin and his team work. They were fast, clean, and efficient! Our other neighbor needed the same service, so we were able to piggyback our job with hers, as we needed to have our tree removed for the same reason-root invasion. We found Justin Coppola of Ocean Beach Arborists from his great reviews on Yelp and Next Door, and so glad we did. We contacted him for several projects, and were incredibly satisfied with his work. He has over 10 years of experience in arboriculture, and has been a licensed arborist for over 8 yrs. He was very responsive, and all communication was excellent. We had him remove a sprawling, scraggly cedar in our back yard, which had been blocking our view and bothering us for over 15 years, ground the stump, took out another tree that wasn't healthy, trimmed back our neighbor's tree which was hanging way over our patio, and did a beautiful job trimming some magnolia trees in front. Justin was incredibly knowledgeable, the trimmed trees looked great, he and his team worked extremely hard and diligently, didn't damage anything in the yard, and cleaned up well afterward, hauling everything away. We found Justin of Ocean Beach Arborists when we were looking to have a giant unkempt Torrey pine tree overhanging our property from our neighbor's side trimmed. We were worried the tree was so unmaintained that it was going to fall over to our side and damage our house (and possibly our lives). Justin conducted a thorough evaluation, put our minds at ease. Justin was amazing, one of our pine trees died and fearing that it might be due to pine beetle I wanted to remove it ASAP. Originally my husband was just going to take care of it by himself with the help of our two sons (10, 8). However, after starting the project my husband soon realized that it was going to take him and the kids forever to do the work themselves. I called Justin and he was able to come out right away, what would have taken my husband and kids over five hours and multiple days, Justin was able to do in an afternoon. He was very friendly and knowledgeable he examined the tree and found no signs of pine beetle or bug damage to the tree. Got three quotes & OB was very competitive. I had them prune some large eucalyptus. My backyard landscape is all new and I appreciate the care they took to protect everything with plywood from damage. My house is on a hillside with very limited access and they did a great job hauling so many large branches out. Justin just came by to evaluate our avocado tree which was well over 50 years old, it had suddenly dropped all its leaves and had no growth We realized after the leaves had fallen, that a inexperienced garden guy had sawed off some limbs, we thought he knew what he was doing...per our request...We found the saw actually embedded in one of the tree limbs rusted ! We called Justin to come by and help us with our poor little tree that was just barely holding on. He gave us a clear evaluation and instructions. He took the shovel and dug away dirt that needed to be removed to show the roots so they could get oxygen. Who knew about that? Justin did . He is highly trained and experienced. . He gave us all kinds of wisdom and advice to be able to hopefully salvage our little baby tree even though it's 50 years old ! It''s an OB native and it deserves some tender loving care . Local Obceans, Ginnie and Blake run this Xmas Tree business out of the Apple Tree Market parking lot on Cable Street near Santa Monica Ave. It's small, but they have great prices and really, really fresh trees at $10-20 lower than the big lots. They are also THE nicest people...of course...they live in OB! Their Nobel Firs run $15.95-64.95...that big one is $80 at Home Depot! And their Douglas Firs are $19.95-49.95. They sell the wood disposable bowl tree stands for $5, and a really sturdy one called, The Last Stand (because it's built so well, it will be the Last Stand you ever have to buy..get it? Of course you do!) and it's only $11...usually goes for $20. They are open 7 days a week from 9-9 and this is their 3rd year doing it. So, come out and support your local merchant and buy a tree from them and tell them Mercy sent ya! read more

He was very responsive and came out the same day to take a look and provide a detailed quote. After educating us on the problems with the tree, he gave us options on what we could do.
