Stay away from "The Little House," vacation rental at Plaice Cove in Hampton NH…read more The view from the deck was magnificent... until the backhoe showed up to fix the neighbor's sea wall, obstructing the beach, filling the air with noise, ruining the last 4 days of our vacation. Owner was unresponsive for over a week until threatened, and ultimately declined to offer even a modest refund. The Little House is dangerous for kids. Exposed electric wires/outlets/junction boxes, and there are hundreds of nails sticking through the wall (they are holding up the vinyl siding and stick through into the interior by about 1 inch). Thank goodness my 2-year-old did not stumble while close to the wall or it would have meant a trip to the hospital. Are there no building codes in New Hampshire? Also, you must climb over jagged boulders to get from the cottage to the beach because there is no direct path/stairs/walkway. The listing on HomeAway.com talks about a "short-stay guest/storage/laundry room" and provides some carefully staged pictures. In case you were wondering, the "short stay" room is actually a garage with a couple of beds set up in there, and there are rusty sharp tools strewn about. My daughter slept there. My aunt who is recovering from cancer slept there, and when I made up her bed a big black bug crawled out of the blanket. I was stressed out the whole vacation. The beach at Plaice Cove is rocky & rough, better buy some aqua socks if you want to swim. The rooms are evidently undergoing some renovations; however, I don't think there is anyway to renovate this to today's expectations and standards. The heating and cooling unit is loud enough that if you are trying to watch TV you have to turn the volume up when it kicks in and down when it cycles down. The floor had a downhill tilt (not as noticeable in shoes but definitely if you are barefoot). A laminate wood floor has been added as an "update" at sometime, which would have been the time to level up the slope. The ceiling and areas around the heat/air unit all have crazy gaps and need better trim work. Let's talk ventilation and insulation. I swear the ducts just connect one room to another. We listened to the kids next door carrying on till after 11 and the parents evidently didn't care about other guests and the running up and down the halls and hollering during other times was like they were in our room with us. Our room was over the function room and I think the music was louder in our room than it was when we had been downstairs. The advertised "shared microwave" is just one in the lobby, not even one on each floor by the ice machines. We attended a function on Saturday night in the banquet hall. The serving staff was great and were hustling their butt's off. The food was a giant hit or miss!! Those who had pre-ordered the grilled sirloin had the home run meal. The rest of us struck out. The chicken was pounded so thin that it was dry all the way through except for a silver dollar sized area, those who got the ravioli found them to be under stuffed and lacked any kind of sauce so were also dry. If that wasn't bad enough everything was luke warm, but because I was hungry I ate the broccoli and penne . The salds were good, veggies were crispy. Dressing was spotty on some of them and well dressed on others. For the outrageous meal price for events, I am sure we will not be back. When we checked out there was no " how was your stay inquiry from staff, just a "there are no charges so you are all set"

Upon arrival, The floor was dirty (see photo), the tissue holder in the bathroom was rusty, and the baseboards were both dirty and covered with hair (see photos). The bathroom was stocked with no extra toilet paper or tissues, and the bath towels provided were tiny and felt more like hand towels than bath towels. The bedding wasn't much better - I found dirty pillow cases when I checked in. In terms of amenities, the room lacked the basics I'd expect from a hotel in this price range. There was no information about restaurants, hotel hours, or amenities provided in the room, and no phone or safe available. Service was also hit or miss. The valet consistently took around 15 minutes to bring the car, which is a long wait when you're trying to get somewhere. On top of that, I had requested feather-free (hypoallergenic) pillows and comforter, but it took two attempts and over an hour and a half after check-in to finally get it resolved. Overall, the hotel has potential because of its beachfront location, but the lack of cleanliness, poor room setup, and slow service made for a very frustrating experience. I expected much better for the price and would not stay here again unless significant improvements are made. When we brought our concerns up (again) upon check out they did wave the parking and resort fee's but we will not be returning... Perhaps the name should change to Trashworth.... Very disappointing

We had an issue with heat coming on one cooler night but the guy came right away and fixed it . Off-street designated Peking spot was nice. We enjoyed sitting on the porch having a drink and people watching. It is located one block from the beach and located in the middle of everything which was awesome. The Manager was awesome; very pleasant, professional and welcoming. Although quite dated apartment would definitely stay again when in the area.

I never have the expectation for my place of stay to be fully updated but the room I stood in was great. Close walking distance to the beach and right across from Wally's which wasn't a bad experience while having an 11 month old with us at the motel. Anytime my wife and I asked the owner for something, it was done! The owner was respectful, filled with positive energy and approachable. The family and I planned on giving Hampton beach a break next year but will be booking with Nautical Motels moving forward.

First of all myself and my wife went to the beach for a couple hours, and when we got back to our room there was someone standing outside of our door with our door open he said he was there to replace the dishwasher, we asked how he got in and he said seaside vacation rentals gave him the code to our room, told him to knock if no one answered just go in!!! so we went into the rental office to find out why someone was in our room with no one there, and how do you give the code to someones room who isn't there with their belongings in there. we were never notified about this. She said that should be the last time we'll be in there, the very next day it happened agai, so again I go into the office to complain and the Manager threatened me and threw me out of the office and once in the lobby again threatened to throw me out of the hotel all together!! The room was a total disaster doors off hinges and thrown in the closet, they use the closets for storage for there vacuum cleaner, and other stuff the toilet paper holder was broken, receptacle cover missing, luckily we didn't have any kids, when I got into the shower I noticed a hair on the shower wall that was neither mine or my wife's!! wish I could post pictures!! So please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else a total disgrace, the people who run the seaside vacation rental place are totally ignorant unprofessional and not at all concerned about the customers privacy personal property or the inconvenience of having to waste vacation time babysitting the work that's going on in your room!!!

At first the owner / broker seemed friendly and accommodating ...let me stress "at first" THIS STAY TURNED OUT TO BE A NIGHTMARE!!. After settling in and having gone to the beach for about three hours..we returned to our room to discover that my girlfriend's purse was missing from where she left it ...right on the bed. At first we were in disbelief...how could this happen? But without a doubt it was gone...an expensive Harley Davidson purse with over $200 cash, five credit cards and other personal items GONE. Police came and a report was filed...attention was brought to the management and the worse part in all of this was their attitude about it...she took on an attitude that we were wastng her time and that we could leave if we felt unsafe! Never did she suggest that she could change the code on the door lock or anything else to make us feel better about what had happened to us..instead she made us feel uncomfortable about the whole situation...I must add that she is in the unit directly next to this unit and she and her posse hang around on the deck smoking cigarettes and I must say you will not feel comfortable staying here you feel like you are invading their space! We have stayed so many places in Hampton and NEVER have we had a bad experience like we did here. Unless you take everything with you out of your room or place a video camera to tape any intruder into your space DO NOT STAY HERE!! I know for a fact that they also entered the room on several occasions because they changed the air conditioning to power saver every time we left the room....who does that? I could go on but this is making me very upset just to think about. Do yourself a favor and just Avoid!!

The apartment I had was at #4. They have other properties which I did not see. If you are looking for modern, up-to-the-minute furnishings and décor, this might not be for you. But it is quiet, comfortable, super-clean and is well stocked with appliances, and utensil. Beds are comfortable. BBQ grills available on request. There are several good eating and drinking establishments within walking distance. Hampton Beach can get super crowded on summer weekends, but is beautiful and clean. You can't go wrong with Elaine and Vic
