I was exploring Fishers along 96th St and noticed this little shop next to the Hallmark store in a…read morestripmall just east of I-69. Apparently, it opened about 2 years ago and somehow, didn't have any Yelp reviews. Well, I always enjoy checking out gift shops, especially when they feature a great deal from local artisans. When I first entered, I realized that the shop has three sections/rooms. The first is mostly gift items featuring candles that are made by and support women at Wheeler Misssion, funny socks, and a variety of items that suitable for gifts. Many have inspirational themes as well. The room beyond that features women's clothing and jewelry. I will let someone else who knows more about those things review these items, but the space was colorful and easy to move around in. The back room, or man cave, is small but is a great place for guys to hang out while their lady friend shops. There is a TV back there as well as some items that might be fun gifts for men. They've figured out the shopping experience of married life here! ha! Although I didn't get to meet the owner, the woman who was working during my visit was friendly and very helpful filling me in on the source of items and how the owner supports other local businesses and artisans. The kind of business that lots of Yelpers also support, so if you are in Fishers, check this place out before shopping at some big box store or online. It was a place I felt welcomed. Review #3723

Home Grown Indiana, which appears connected to the same named shop in Noblesville and the recently departed Circle Centre location, has opened up on the second level of the mall between Sunglass Hut and Aroma 360. In a sea of premium, national chain vendors, Home Grown Indiana is a rather quaint, locally owned shop focusing on Indiana-themed gifts and wares by Indiana artists. The best entrance to use for easy access is The Cheesecake Factory/Starbucks entrance, though I typically go in through the restaurant gallery and that worked just fine. Home Grown Indiana is open mall hours. The employee, whom I believe was the owner, was friendly and helpful. You could definitely get a sense that they were brand new, though I didn't know that for fact during my visit. Items include things like bath bombs, candles, clothing, artwork, magnets, and more. Nearly everything I saw had an Indiana theme to it including the Indiana-shaped refrigerator magnet with butterflies that I simply had to get. Those of you who know me, know that I started a refrigerator magnet collection during my cancer journey - this was a great addition to my collection. The magnet was only $6.99. They definitely have a wide price range, though I had no issue finding simple, reasonably priced goods alongside the pricier art works. Shop decor was simple, well organized, and I could get around the shop in a wheelchair quite easily. This shop is definitely not as "premium" as the Noblesville spot, though I'd imagine it'll pick up as they settle in and get discovered. I can't quite justify a 5-star experience here, however, I can easily go 4-stars with a welcoming spirit and a strong local flavor that is definitely needed at this mall. Circle Centre's loss is Fashion Mall's gain. I'd venture up to the second floor and give them a visit.

A few days before Christmas, I checked Yelp for a great florist and encountered the Rusted Window. I loved that I could see their beautiful holiday bouquets, gifts and decor on their website before ordering. I was able to order everything online and it was super easy and quick. The owner called me the next day with drop-off info and she was so sweet and friendly on the phone. The flowers were delivered on time and my grandma said that they smelled amazing. I was able to add a note to our bouquet too and it felt so wonderful that my grandma got that surprise without me being able to leave the house. Thank you!

The shop has a little bit of everything. Home Decor? Candles? Just Pop in! popcorn? Women's Clothing? Floral arrangements? Yes to all! I will say I was surprised that there wasn't more floor space since it looks rather roomy from the parking lot. But once inside, there are basically two rooms for shopping while the rest of the space is storage area behind the counter. The staff was friendly and offered to assist in finding something. The space was organized and arranged so that it presented the items in groupings that made sense, not cluttered like some spaces. Review #2098
