The fish monger has fresh fish. I love the variety and he has ice to keep it safe for the ride home. I'd bring a cooler. I bring my rolling cart/stroller. You'll be glad you did. Your hoard gets heavy. There's plenty of produce. My favorite day to go is on Sunday morning. Nothing's cheap but it's not as expensive as places like Publix, Earth Fare or Sprouts. No pesticides allows you to try it directly from the vine. The owners are so nice and informative. I didn't know what to expect but she waved me in and gave me the run down. Once I had enough blackberries to make a big crumble I headed back to the check out. After that I headed back out with a cup to pick the most amazing flowers. She challenged me to fill the entire cup and it was $10 for as many as I could fit it it. These flowers were just gorgeous as you can see from the pictures. I also grabbed a bag of okra after asking how to make fried okra. She happily told me how she makes hers with an egg wash, cornmeal, flour, garlic salt, onion salt and pepper. The buttery Cuban toast was good and so were the cafe con leche...wished the coffee size was bigger. The biggest disappointment was the bacon, if you can call it that. When I first saw the bacon, I thought it looked odd...and my suspicions were confirmed when I bit into and tasted it. The texture was off and it had no flavor. Perhaps it was turkey bacon or vegetarian bacon, either way I wasn't informed that the bacon would be some weird facsimile of bacon. Surprised the lady behind the counter didn't try to convince me to change my choice of meat. We'll probably go back for breakfast but will definitely avoid ordering that strange bacon. Breakfast for 2 with the turnovers and tip cost just under $30.

In Central Texas, we met a local beekeeper at a farmer's market and my local honey, by that I mean my wife, swears Ramona's honey ranks up there. So when we moved to North Central Florida we started looking for local honey at farmer's markets and online. Our community's farmer's market didn't have any local honey so we checked out the Market of Marion. We got there early on Saturday and the vendors selling local honey were either closed or not set up yet. I searched online for a local honey source in Belleview and Queen of America Honey (QoAH) showed up. I called to confirm they're open and they were. QoAH, we learned from the friendly lady behind the counter, actually sources and processes honey from various domestic and international locations, including South America, and they supply honey wholesale and ships them in tanks to companies using them for various applications and products. But they also have local honey they get from apiaries in the local area. Oh yeah, they have this cool see through tube where you can see bees in action. After tasting the available local honeys they have, my wife chose the Wildflower. The lady behind the counter told us she loves the pepper honey but they didn't have any in stock. A 1-lb jar cost $10. A good find!
