I was greeted by the friendly front staff and quickly moved into a comfy room for my Spider Vein treatment. I had found a Groupon and purchased 4 syringes. Using a small needle I watched right before my eyes my UGLY Spider veins disappeared! Dr. Shafa and her assistant were warm & friendly. As a first time customer at OC MedDerm I was looking forward to my visit and felt confident after reading majority of great reviews but i can admit I didn't pay far enough attention to the bad ones. I went in for dysport injections about 2 weeks ago and the staff and employees were very great and genuinely inviting until i got to meet the dr and then I immediately had a bad idea and taste in my mouth. The dr took me into her office to quickly discuss my service and as someone who gets dysport and Botox regularly I am very familiar with my face and the amount of units I prefer and she immediately took me through her up selling escapade, and just be aware she definitely is a personality that talks at you and not with you and gives you no chance to speak or seems to not listen to the patient. When she realized I wasn't the gullible customer to up sell to she cut off the discussion and said "I'll meet you in the other room" in a very dismissive tone of voice and gave my documents to another employee then walked off, so I walk out not knowing where to go and the very nice employee seemed to be very lost and said "sorry I'm not sure where I'm supposed to take you" I then go into the service room the doctor comes back and then seems to need a reminder of the service as if that conversation before didn't happen and during that whole time I felt regret and concern of being there. She did the service very quickly as she talked at me trying to sell other services. Fast forward to now two weeks later my results are a Dysport/ Botox nightmare, one half of my face has gone frozen and my eye is completely drooping while the other side has regular movement. I always follow the after treatment guidelines and am very familiar with them so I can say it could not have been anything I did wrong. I called to schedule a follow up but they told me that they were very booked and couldn't schedule me for almost a week later all while I have to live with this constant reminder of a dysport nightmare. I'm scheduling the service someplace else sooner to attempt to fix their mistakes and I would never recommend this place to anyone so please let my experience and others' be the lesson learned. Over the summer I had a couple of moles plus numerous skin tags removed. The price was outrageous but I was excited to finally be rid of the unwanted bumps. During the delicate procedure, the office manager rolled a piece of furniture into the room and declared, "we need this room for another patient." After that, the rest of the procedure felt hurried. I don't think the sutures were done with the kind of attention that most doctors would spend on the face. For example, there were no interior sutures on the deep incisions. One of them tore after a couple of days. It's been a few months and the incisions didn't heal very well. One of them has been hurting and I will need to go see my regular doctor and then get a referral to a medical dermatologist. I would not recommend OC MedDerm to anyone. I should have taken the time to locate a more reputable practice, and I regret my decision to have my skin cut up at OC MedDerm. read more

Great office, incredible helpful staff. Dr. Shafa was quite the disappointment - made us wait 50 minutes only to be in the room for about 5 minutes with her foot out the door the entire time. It seemed like she didn't care for my daughter and just wanted us out of the way. Gave us a very vague treatment regiment, allowing no time for questions. Ended up spending $400+ on medicine (non-brand) that my insurance didn't even cover that she told us would be "reasonable". I visited Dr. Shafa's office for the first time today for sclerotherapy. The staff are warm, welcoming, and my overall experience was excellent. I had sclerotherapy done about 25 years ago and then tried laser therapy about 10 years ago. My experience is that only sclerotherapy works. After speaking with Dr. Shafa, her explanation of laser therapy echoed my past results. The difference in laser therapy is it heats up the skin around the vein rather than targeting the vein alone. Due to this fact it left brown discoloration around my vein and the vein is still present. I have never had this problem with sclerotherapy. Today I watched as my veins virtually disappeared with minimal discomfort. Dr. Shafa takes the time to explain the process and the benefits of sclerotherapy. Manypeople feel laser therapy is the way to go because it is newer therapy but I have experienced the difference and will continue to receive sclerotherapy. read more

Wonderful. I purchased a Groupon on a whim, a beach vacation was coming up and I has some unsightly veins in my legs, that apparently bothered me more than I wanted to admit. I went in with a plan to attack some spider veins in my upper legs, but also mentioned to the intake girl that I wanted to discuss a rather large vein on the back on my calf. She glaced at it and I was a little disappointed as I could tell she thought it was too much. The Dr came in and immediately said she could fix it. 3 syringes and the big vein and most of the spiders are gone. She warned me that I may need to come back for future treatments- not yet! It's now been 4 months, and I was able to enjoy the summer short weather confidently. I will say that the calf treatment did leave 2 discolored spots, smaller than the size of a pea, that are still fading, and hurt more than I anticipated. The upper legs not at all.
