BEWARE!! I've been hesitant to write this review, but it's been a long time coming. This salon requires a fairly large deposit when you book your appointment, usually 3-4 weeks in advance. The problem is that when you check out after your service, they charge you the full amount again, as if no deposit was ever paid, seemingly hoping you've forgotten about it. Then, on top of that, you're expected to leave a tip. This happened to me multiple times. At first, I thought I was just forgetting because I hadn't kept track of my deposits. But on my last visit, I took a screenshot of my deposit confirmation before my appointment. When it was time to pay, the cashier insisted I pay the full balance with my card. I only brought enough cash to cover what I knew was the remaining balance plus my tip. When I showed them my deposit receipt, they suddenly changed their tune. Their reaction made it seem like they knew exactly what had happened. Please keep track of your deposits if you choose to visit this salon. Screenshot your confirmation and verify that your deposit is deducted from your final bill before paying. I can't say whether this has happened to anyone else, but based on my own experience, I believe I was overcharged multiple times. Had this not happened, I would have remained a loyal customer. Instead, I feel like I lost hundreds of dollars that I worked hard to earn. read more

Meg is awesome!! Since moving closer to West LA, my typical salon in Studio City has been much harder to reach during peak traffic. Decided to give this place (and Meg) a try and was not disappointed. I came to Meg for a much needed cut & toner. She listened to the details of how I wanted my hair and DELIVERED! Outside of that, she's an awesome person to talk to & getting my hair done with her felt like I was just hanging out with a friend. While I still love my old salon and appreciate the work they do, I'm so glad I found Object Salon as a feasible option while living in this area. I have been a customer of this salon for many years. Often recommend it to friends or moms on face book groups when someone is looking for a place. I really love Meg who cuts my hair. However, salon shows no flexibility at all when it comes to cancelation policy. My appointment is Wednesday. I called on Monday to cancel due to illness of my 2 yo. (but salon was closed; I also sent email at night to follow up not realizing they were closed) When I called on Tuesday morning a lady said she would still charge me $50 cancellation fee. I find it absolutely unacceptable since I tried calling/emailing on Monday. $50 is a lot of money. I am a regular customer there and I always tip at 20% usually more. Maybe this is something owners/managers can discuss because this in my opinion should not have happened. read more

Had a couple services here with a couple different stylists and have to say, everyone has been super nice. Very gentle and nurturing vibe with the services. Both stylists were very eager to listen and check in to make sure they were providing what I wanted. It ended up feeling more like a spa day than some other salons that feel quite hectic, or god forbid those times where I'm left feeling like I got what the stylist wanted, not what I wanted. read more

I have been to this salon twice (just cut, no color) with two different stylists, Masa and Meg, and both were great experiences! Masa helped give me a good trim and plenty of long soft layers in my hair. I was going for a 90s look (long layers framing the face, fullness at the ends) and he executed the layers really well so that there was a lot of movement when I blow dried my hair. Apparently he has helped to mentor several other stylists there. He clearly has a ton of experience and knows what he's doing! He was also super friendly and nice to talk to. Meg more recently took me from drab grown-out hair to a blunt shoulder-length cut. She knew going shoulder-length was a big change for me, so we spent about 20 minutes just talking through different options for length, layers, shape, etc. which I really appreciated. She helped work with the pictures I provided, and my own concerns, to come up with a plan for my hair. She also showed me how to blow-dry it at home for the best results. Friendly, personable and professional, Rion took amazing care of me in the chair today and I could not be happier with how my hair turned out! 12+ inches later, and I'm LOVING how amazing it looks! Started with a clean robe, wrapped and ready to go for each client. Then moved along to a relaxing shampoo and chop! My hair was down to my butt and getting way too difficult to maintain and i figured it was time for a change. Rion walked me through the process before actually cutting it to ensure I wanted to continue with so many inches and recommended donating it! Wigs for Kids will be receiving my braid soon. The salon itself was spacious and sparkly clean and booked by appointment only. They sanitize before and after each client and take your temperature upon arrival so I felt comfortable and safe in a sanitized environment! The chairs are already spaced out pretty far from each other so there's no concern about social distancing here! I will definitely be coming back to Rion next time I need a cut! Just want let ppl know that, if you come over late longer than 10 minutes, you need to pay for 100% the service fee as the cancellation fee (yes, in a high traffic area and they do not have their parking area) . This is the first time I heard that the cancellation is 100% of the service fee :) My hair cut is around $100 You should be really confident about your driving skill and confident in predicting the west la traffic before you make the appointment with them :)) Check the screenshot. 2. Reading the reviews here I'm glad my appointment didn't get moved or cancelled at the last minute, since I flew in from Seattle to get this haircut. My stylist was punctual and attentive and the hair washing felt so nice! She also imparted some fun stories about haircutting during the appointment. I asked for suggestions for a hairstyle that could frame and slim my face, since this is the first time I'm getting my hair cut short in awhile and there's been times where the shorter haircut makes my head look more oval in a horizontal rather than vertical direction . We ended up cutting about 6 inches of my hair off and putting in a lot of layers underneath the outer longer hair, and I'm not sure if this was the best approach for my thick, straight, and already very voluminous hair. I feel that this look makes my face look wider than it already is. I can't wait for this haircut to grow out! read more

This was my first time getting a balayage, so I was a bit nervous about what to expect and/or what would happen if the colors were too light. However, my stylist, Miki, listened to what I wanted and offered her input and recommendation as well before we agreed on something that would look best for my skin tone (light-medium Asian skin tone with warmer undertones) and hair texture (extra fine dark brown/black). She also showed me some faux hair color swatches and how she planned to color/bleach my hair. The swatches also helped make sure the colors would compliment my skin tone. She walked me through the steps of what she would be doing and was very patient in coloring my hair. She would always check in to see if I needed refreshments. When it came time to wash, condition, and shampoo my hair, she was very thorough, and even gave me a nice neck massage during the wash session. Afterward, she took her time to blow dry my hair and curl it to really showcase how the new colors of my hair would frame my face. The results of Miki's coloring/bleaching were beautiful- not too light, but light enough that the brown-ish hues peaked through and if my hair were to grow out, it would look very natural. For my appointment, the whole process from consultation to me walking out the door with beautiful balayage hair was less than 3 hours. Overall- I would highly recommend to others who are looking to get a balayage. Miki really knows how to work with fine Asian hair. I would definitely come again for my next appointment. Atmosphere and decor- very minimalist, simple, and clean. Customer Service + Availability - great! I had asked for a price quote and booked my appointment via the Yelp app, all within 2 days. My appointment was the same week. Price - very fair. I quoted a few other salons before deciding on Object Salon. Had an appt with Rion at 10 today. She wasn't there. Waited for 20 mins and asked the staff to contact her only to find out she didn't know about the appt. They said she can come in 15 mins. I have been going to Object Salon for some 25 (maybe more?) years now, even followed them across town when it became (in LA-speak) "geographically undesirable" for me, because Hiroshi (the owner) is so good. He consistently gives me great haircuts (I have shorty, wavy hair, so a good cut is really important); plus the salon itself is a soothing space, immaculately clean, and always welcoming. The hair wash is a treat unto itself, including a wonderful head and neck massage. A number of my friends also go to Hiroshi--one with long and very curly hair, others with straight hair and/or who color their hair--and everyone loves the results. I cannot recommend Object Salon and Hiroshi highly enough. read more

Hiroshi cuts and keeps my hair looking good. He is a true hair artist. I highly recommend him and trust him.

As much as I would love to support local businesses, I don't want to deal with this salon. The service is inconsistent. One haircut my daughter had there was great, the other with another master was bad. She cried afterwards. I need to take her somewhere else now to fix it if possible. The worst part in addition to the inconsistency in skills amongst the masters is the draconian cancellation policy. They claim that some booking require elaborate preparation and therefore if you cancel in less than 48 hours they will charge the full price. My pre-teen daughter had a simple haircut scheduled with nothing that required any preparation. But when something came up and I left a message the evening before the appointment and then called again early morning to see if I can shift the late appointment appointment to either a different time or a day. I was told that I would be charged no show/late cancellation fee. And their kid's haircut is $70 each time, though the website states start with $60.. This is not a good customer service. I've never seen a business that is not willing to work with the client on rebooking the appointment especially the one that's a quick kids haircut!!! Greedy is what this business is. I've been looking for a great salon in Los Angeles since I moved back here 3 years ago. They were able to accommodate me just a few days before my appointment. Mister Masa cut my hair and he did such an excellent job! He looked carefully at the photos I showed him and knew I wanted volume without me saying anything.
