I am so glad I took a chance on a new stylist! I could not be more thrilled with Ben's outstanding work. I went in thinking I would need a base color to go with my new highlights, and instead, within 5 minutes I was flattered right off my feet. He told me he loved my color and that he wouldn't touch it. Huge green flag! Not trying to get money from me, when it's not needed? Priceless. I haven't been this excited about a cut and/or color in a very long time. It's safe to say I have finally found a stylist for life. His work was so well received by my mom that she promptly scheduled an appointment for the following week. Thank you so much for your professionalism and quality, Ben! Also, his assistant, Kendra is a sweet and warm lady. Looking forward to going back. read more

Imagine being six months post-partum: you book a hair appointment so you can look and feel like a normal person again before going back to work full-time in a week. You're thrilled to find someplace close to your house that's affordable. You get a text message to confirm the appointment. You get a babysitter. You show up to the appointment and are told that it's been cancelled because you didn't return the salon's phone call to confirm. You leave with no plans to ever come back. This confirmation policy is more rigid than a plastic surgeon's office. If it's that big of a problem, ask your clients to put down a credit card or pay a deposit. read more

Daidone Salon - Fresh haircut (wash and blowout) - Hair Salons Near Me - Santa Monica, California

Every time I walk into Daidone Salon and have Ben Daidone do my hair, whether he is doing my color or a haircut, I breathe a sigh of relief. I know that Ben is going to listen deeply to me, understand the nuances of what haircut or color I'm asking him for, show patience with me, and even go through photos with me of exactly what I want. And I know that I am going to walk out of there with the kind of color you can only get from a color wizard and the perfectly precise haircut--the kind that has movement and swing and frames my face perfectly. Plus, he's funny and warm and just a wonderful human being. I know, I know...I just adore the guy! I'll admit it. read more

Daidone Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Santa Monica, California

My sister and I went here on the recommendation of my former boss's friend, and this was unfortunately one of the worst experiences we've had at a salon. We came from the Valley and managed to arrive about 10 minutes early for our appointments, yet both of our stylists (who were also coming from the Valley) were so late that the owner, Ben, had to step in to quickly trim my hair in between his clients, while my sister was left waiting and got stuck with one of the late stylists. Her stylist walked in with Starbucks and never apologized for being 45 minutes late; plus, she barely trimmed my sister's hair. While I appreciate Ben stepping in to fix the problem, he had to work quickly, and I naturally felt that I was being rushed out the door. My hair turned out OK--nothing amazing--and no one offered a discount as an apology for the inconvenience. I was hoping Daidone would be a viable option for me, but I won't be back after this experience and wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a salon. read more

Daidone Salon - New style for HS - Hair Salons Near Me - Santa Monica, California

As soon as I left, I called another salon to make an appointment to fix it... The cut makes me look like the nerdy kid in high school in the 80's. The stylist didn't feather my ends at all while adding layers, so the layers look really choppy. And she didn't use any hair products while blowdrying. Even my fiancé who always says I look beautiful agreed that I needed to get it fixed. I had to keep my gaze down the entire appointment because if I looked up, I'd cry. When I looked at it in the car, I DID cry. I spent years growing out my hair -- asked for an inch and a half off, and the stylist took at least 3 inches off. I'm so distraught right now, but to be fair, the owner is so so nice and the salon has a very chic vibe to it. I'm sure it was just a one-stylist issue, but I'm still brokenhearted read more

I scheduled a hair cut with Alyssa, and not only did she run 45 minutes late, she walked in with Starbucks, never apologized for being so late, and said that I could get a credit for a conditioning treatment, but that it "had to be with her." And when she finally does my hair (after going to a shampoo-ist who drenched my back in water), she snips for a grand total of 10 minutes, my hair looking no different than when I came in. Paying $110 for 10 minutes of work after being 45 minutes late is absolutely unacceptable. There were two stylists there who tried their best to make up for the terrible service from Alyssa (one stepped in to do my sister's hair because her stylist never even showed up) and the space was large and clean, but I won't be back to this salon ever again. read more

Daidone Salon - My color journey these past 6 months! - Hair Salons Near Me - Santa Monica, California

Exceptional talent. Ben Daidone is a master stylist. He combines incredible talent, experience, tact and humor to make me look and feel my best. I have long thick unruly dark hair which he colors, highlights and blows out into a beautiful blond highlighted waves. He listens thoughtfully to my concerns and steers me with practiced guidance, making suggestions on how I can achieve the look I want without going brassy or ending up with something that requires too much maintenance to maintain. If you have long full hair, I guarantee you will be delighted with this blowout. His salon is bright, airy and beautiful with an outdoor patio where I sit and read as my color processes. There are two highly skilled and experienced manicurists on staff, both of whom I believe have worked with him for decades. His assistants are attentive, thoughtful and talented. The atmosphere is professional, business like and unpretentious. This is a salon that turns out the most beautiful looks in a welcoming, laid back, very comfortable setting. His clients range from 20-somethings to clients who have been loyal for decades. I trust Ben without hesitation to make my hair look its best, and I am delighted that the pricing is fair and reasonable. The best value I have found in an LA salon. read more

My hairstylist , Ben, had already left the salon when I arrived 19 mins late for a 4:00 appt. I had confirmed the appt and tried to call to advise of my running late via their confirmation system. But their messaging did not display their tel. #. Anyway, if my doctors and other appts can give courtesy check to see your ETA, shame on this salon for not extending this simple courtesy. That's how a well run salon does it. Multiple ladies sitting around at the front desk, I guess that would be to much for them. The place was fairly empty and with this kind of communication, I can see why. I had the courtesy to call you to cancel my prior appt. and re-schedule. Did not just stand you up. Your salon did not extend the same simple courtesy to 1. notify me that you were canceling and leaving the salon at a little after 4:00 or 2.. call me re my ETA. Simple courtesy given by Drs. and other professionals not given here. And I'm thankful for a forum like Yelp to alert others what to expect here. Arrogance and rudeness. read more
