I would NOT recommend this obstetrician or this practice. I have been a patient since 2013 and was…read morerecently removed as a patient from the practice due to my own medical decisions during my high risk pregnancy. DR. JOSEPH CUTERI is the most unethical, unprofessional and unempathetic doctor I have ever dealt with. I recently started a new job and had to reschedule maybe 2 visits, I am also being followed by the Antenatal testing unit because I am high risk and 26 weeks pregnant with Type 1 Diabetes. I had an appointment with him and he started the visit by being extremely rude and harsh towards me. He did not address my concerns that were brought up to the nurse before he entered the room and by the end of the visit I was in tears because he dismissed the fact I had complex PTSD and anxiety and said what kind of PTSD as if it was no big deal. I told him I felt uncomfortable driving to Bridgeport hospital to have an ultrasound for a previous appointment. He then proceeded to tell me maybe I should switch hospitals to Griffin or St. Vincents. Griffin Hospital does not have the knowledge to treat high risk pregnancies that have Type 1 diabetes only Yale does. When you call the office they always sound like they do not want to be at work and do not want to help you at all. I have followed what the care team has advised me but making every appointment is sometimes impossible when you have 3 children and 1 that has a disability along with working full time. Please think about your decision to see this provider especially if you want to feel cared for during your pregnancy. I had to file a patient relations complaint along with a complaint to CT Public Health.

Best GYN in the area, heck, in the state. I've been a patient of his for well over eight years, and…read moreI only left him for a short hiatus when he retired from OB. He is unbelievably knowledgable, greatly concerned with patient comfort, and gets to know each and every patient. (A rarity in the new world of huge doctor practices) He is very professional. He comes in and asks the usual questions to begin, but also asks about your day/your year. He leaves and returns with a much more detached demeanor (which is appropriate for these exams!). And afterwards takes ten to twenty minutes to chat in his office. All very comforting. His office staff is unmatched. You can call with ANY question and they will immediately place a qualified individual on the phone to help you out. If it is serious, they are quick to get you in to see the doctor. My only gripe is that he will have to retire completely at some point. Sigh.

It's rare to find a doctor who can communicate something scientifically and still genuinely sound compassionate--and I've found that in Dr. Sharpe. I visited both the Westport and Milford locations, and at each office, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Throughout my pregnancy, I saw Dr. Khan, Dr. Proulx, and Dr. Murray. They are exceptional physicians -- you truly couldn't ask for better professionals. They made me feel fully supported every step of the way. The delivery of my daughter was a wonderful experience, and what meant even more was that they came to visit me afterward to check on both me and my baby. That level of care meant so much to me. A year later, I returned for my annual exam and saw Dr. Proulx again. I was so impressed by how well she understood what I was going through and how thoroughly she answered all of my questions. I wholeheartedly recommend SCWHCA!

Unfortunately recommending an iud, and then doing an unannounced cervical biopsy right before insertion with no pain meds. Brutal is an understatement. I would rather see a clinician like her as opposed to other practices where-you see a different person every time. They can be polite and organized but not provide adequate care. Now that I have switched (new ins.), she not only remembers my family, I feel as though, I'm treated like family. She takes her time. She is thorough and careful. She explains things. I've only been seeing her for a bout a year now but I've been a few times already as I got the flu and I needed a physical. I'm also diabetic and while I see an endocrinologist regularly for that, she was very attentive to my diabetes and wants to stay updated on my endocrine appointments. As for my grandmother, when my grandma passed, it was Dr. Nwangwu's who listened to her symptoms and really investigated. She was able to help find the cause of her pain shortly before her passing. It was unexpected and the answers came as a result of the thorough labwork Nwangwu had ordered. I've never had to wait longer than 15 minutes (I've visited the office probably 6 or 7 times this year) and when I had trouble initially and misunderstanding with my insurance claim, I questioned my bills and they reviewed each claim with me. I was even offered a discount on my portion since I'd felt there had been some misunderstanding regarding my insurance/initial visit. She's great.
