He always wanted to eat in another high rise location within OB and this was just disappointing. One thing I've always noticed is when you're in a bougie area and eatery, yet the food tastes like it's from a cafeteria! I got their Caesar salad, it was okay, wouldn't order that again. I ordered Buffalo fire roasted wings, now I'm not sure about you but fire roasted doesn't scream burnt to me, I might be wrong but my first set of wings were burnt. Then my friend noted that they are fire roasted, and the second batch wasn't as burnt but they just were overcooked tough wings lol. I know this bc this is how my mom liked her chicken so if you're like my mom, get those chicken wings! They're probably fire but not for people that don't like drier wings. I like mine to be juicyyyyyy! My friend Rebecca, whom shares my bday, she had quinoa tacos. Those are not for me! Trying to remember what my friend Caity had but cannot! The upstairs bartender wouldn't let me even try a tiny sample of the sour beer because they said they're on their last keg and the brewery it came from was going out of business. That's pretty lame considering I was obviously planning on buying a drink anyway. So I ended up spending $10 on a really gross beer that I wouldn't have otherwise ordered had they just let me try it. The table next to me ordered nachos and they were told after they paid for them that was there was no cheese for the nachos. Who runs out of the most essential ingredient for nachos, but still lets someone order them? The rooftop view is great but I didn't appreciate the frosty attitude of the bartender. Such an awesome spot full rooftop bar lots of different levels and a little bit of a maze but in a good way that in a group or just by yourself you could have some privacy. I got a chance to finally visit for the first time a few days ago. The building is rustic with multiple stories and two serving locations. One is the ground floor, and one is up top. The servers were all really nice to talk with and had some good suggestions. I went with the house Whole Hand Point Agave Milk Stout and a Toked to be here West Coast IPA. Both were really good. So my friend wanted to check out this brewery so we headed there and paid for parking(street parking is limited and like playing the lotto). We went up to the rooftop and found a spot in the back. I went wandering and was able to scoop a spot after a couple left. We grabbed some beers and ordered food. The wings were sriracha honey with ranch dressing. The wings had the perfect balance of sweetness and heat. They were also tender and truly hit the spot. My friend enjoyed the chicken sandwich and truly enjoyed the thin cut fries. This place had a great view, good beer, and mixed food. I'd definitely recommend it because the rooftop is a great spot to enjoy a beer with an ocean view, and I liked (didn't love) their beers, but the food was definitely mixed. On one hand, the fish and chips were good, but they were too greasy and the seasoning was basically just a bunch of old bay and they were incredibly salty. And the fried pickles were also way too salty and greasy, and they stuck together so they were difficult to eat. But on the other hand, the mahi tacos with the habanero cilantro cream sauce were literally some of the best fish tacos we've ever had. So be weary of the standard greasy pub fare, but their beer and less greasy dishes are good paired up with their general vibes. read more

We met some friends at the OB Brewery for lunch. We'd been before, but had never eaten here before. We started downstairs where the lovely and talented Megan was behind the bar. We placed our drink and food orders. Megan poured my beer and had to grab a seltzer for Becky. No seltzer on tap, only canned Topo Chico :-( At least that's better than White Claw. Bex is so over White Claw. She handed us a number to place on our table. We headed up the three flights of stairs to the top floor. The open rooftop patio with the great views. The four of us found a great spot with views of the water and of Newport Ave for some excellent people watching. A short while later our food arrived. Wow! What great food at OB Brewery! They also have lots of local of beer, cider, and kombucha selections on tap. There is also a beer garden with ping pong, indoor area, and a rooftop bar and seating area with killer views!!! The staff is also amazing. Working on Newport brings an "array" or characters, let's just say, but the workers always remain professional and light hearted regardless of the situation. My wife had accidentally spilled something on her clothes and went to the restroom to change into another outfit. The bartender came in, visibly irritated about waiting, and said to her in a harsh tone, "Are you even a customer? Because you definitely just changed." Her demeanor was aggressive -- she raised her voice, took a confrontational stance, and acted as if she was looking for an argument. It made the situation unnecessarily tense and uncomfortable for everyone nearby. This type of behavior is unacceptable for someone representing a business. They had self serve waters, which makes it quick and easy to get a refill whenever needed. There is also a fuse ball table on the second floor, and bars located on both the bottom and top floor. The bathrooms aren't the greatest! We got the Mahi Mahi Tacos, Onion Rings, Chicken Tenders, and a Cheeseburger. Everything came out pretty quickly and was pretty tasty. It's only a few blocks from the beach, and the main allure is the rooftop patio with views of the ocean & pier in the distance. I tried some mozzarella sticks and a fried chicken sandwich. The mozzarella sticks (2.5/5) were hearty, but of a standard frozen food service variety without much flavor. The chicken sandwich (3.5/5) was decent and tasty, served on a great brioche bun which elevated the sandwich experience. The fries served with the sandwich were fresh, but otherwise average. The Yelp check in offer for a beer sampler was honored, and the wheat beer sampled was solid. The service and atmosphere (4.5/5) is what elevated the overall experience as the staff was extremely laid back, yet cordial and friendly. Come here on Saturday afternoon around 5pm for drinks after spending the day at the beach. It has 3 floors here, bottom floor is where you order food and then seat yourself wherever. Second floor has limited seating cause it's bathrooms and the gaming floor, they have fooseball and shuffleboard. Top floor has phenomenal 360 views all around from the ocean view and the street view. It does get really packed up there in the afternoon, it's first come first serve up there and they don't allow dogs up there. We came here for drinks and a small snack. The entire staff was so welcoming to me and my dog to the point that I almost didn't even want to leave. The beers were great, burger and salad were delish, and they even fed my boy some bacon. Dude, YESSS BACON!!! I've got so much love for this joint. Thank you so much for making our day extra special and for keeping the positive vibes going.
