Probably my favorite night spot/cabaret theatre in SF. Heklina, D'Arcy and Geoff are incredibly generous hosts to everyone (luckily everyone except loud, obnoxious, vulgar, trashy, corny bachelorette parties). Amazing staff, every single bartender, server, coat check, door people etc. etc. Icarus is the best though! Mother is a great show! Madame is a fantastic party! And every show they produce or host is wonderful. There is something there for everyone! And you may occasionally bump into a celebrity or two! Came for Shamilton which was sold out online but messaged the venue specifically on FB and was told there would be tickets available at the door. Waited for approx. an hour outside the venue before the doors opened to make sure we were first in, only to get inside and be told there were no tickets available. Why would you tell us to be there/there would be tickets available if you knew you wouldn't have any? We were really excited to see it and so disappointed to have that happen. read more

This was for the Alyssa Edwards show. Justin was over an hour late to her show. When she finally appeared she knew she was going to be awful when she she said, "if you're not Christian, get the fuck out of here and no refunds for all of you." She ranted on stage and yelled at Staff when they tried to get her to wrap up the droning. She poorly performed a song then ranted again and the owner looked pissed when she demanded an interview. If I was Mother I would have been livid. Alyssa kept complaining about her 5 am flight and ended her show. About the venue, if you are short like me. 5' 4" Your view will be awful. We stood for 2 hours waiting in the club because there are very few seats. It was also so poorly ventilated that a girl passed out from the heat and an ambulance had to be called. As a financially challenged middle school teacher, who traveled from out of town, I was so disappointed my partner and I spent almost $100 to see her. I had high expectations of her being a fun and professional drag queen but instead she's lost the hustle and desire to perform and is riding the coattails of her Netflix show. read more

Such a fun night! We joined friends for a performance of Harry Poofter And The Sorcerer's Rhinestone Saturday night. I was expecting to have a good experience but Oasis and the cast gave us an incredible experience. They encourage you to arrive 1 hour early. We ended up arriving only about thirty minutes early and it was fine because our friends had alrEady been seated. It is cabaret style seating and the venue is intimate. The waitstaff is attentive. They had themed drinks that were fun. We ordered a tequila based drinks called "unicorn blood." There is a two drink minimum that we exceeded. Performance was terrific. There was one fifteen minute intermission. After the show ends everyone cleared the lobby so that they could turn the event space into a night club. That seemed fun but we decided to leave before it really got going. Maybe next time... can't wait to come back! read more

Jaime and I came up from Orange County because one of our favorite RuPaul's Drag Race contestants was doing a night here. We try to make it to shows in LA or Long Beach, however, there's usually just a cover at the door and it's every man for themselves, but at Oasis, you can pre-purchase tickets that guarantees you a spot. One thing that I really loved is how upfront they were with door/set times. The doors opened promptly when the ticket stated and the show started exactly as advertised. The main area where the performances took place was spacious so you had plenty of elbow room and pretty much everywhere you went, you had a decent view of the show. They have a big bar towards the back and the bartenders do a good job of putting together a stiff drink at a reasonable rate! Bathrooms are unisex which features private stalls for each person that includes floor to ceiling privacy for whatever business you may need to do. They were clean too, so that was a big plus! Even with a sold out show, the wait times were super quick, which is a thumbs for this sort of club. Sound was great and the staff for the most part were organized and friendly. My only complaint was when there was a meet and greet, their well oiled machine sort of broke down and the two security guards that were managing the lines sort of panicked and gave up. It was a free for all which made things move at a snails pace. Maybe it was just this one show - but clearer instructions and lines would make everything move much faster! I'll for sure be back. 10/10 wouldn't return to this venue, no matter how big of a fan I might be of the headlining act. The extreme heat, insanely tightly packed crowd and zero air circulation would've been dangerous even if we weren't in a pandemic. About 20 mins into the event, a chunk of the crowd frantically motioned to get host Kochina Rude's attention, as she was currently on stage, because somebody passed out. She could not have cared less. This was disconcerting straight out of the gates. People were SMOKING in the venue, as in cigarettes. Vaping and weed was heavily in the mix too, but ppl were smoking friggin cigarettes in there and nobody asked them to stop. Nuts. But the main issue is that the show we saw headlined 2 acts and in a 4 hour event, those 2 acts were on the stage for a total of 12 minutes. They each did 2 performances, 3 mins each. The first didn't even start until after 1am. The crowd was exhausted. Worse than only getting to see the reason we came for such a short time, was what Oasis chose to do with the filler time around the 2 headliners: part of it was go go dancers dancing to music that was so loud that people everywhere were covering their ears and wincing in pain. Kochina had to ask the sound people to turn her mic down three times. But it never got quieter, only louder. Kochina and Lisa Frankenstein, the hosts, bantered on stage for hours, making inside jokes and just screaming into the mics, deafening the crowd. It was Lisa's birthday and her partner came out and performed for her and they played a slideshow of their personal photos. There was also a point when they brought a cupcake out for her and everybody sang happy birthday. It was sweet, for her, but that was all for Lisa, I don't even know who she is, so it was just a lot of time and attention spent on acknowledging the bday of somebody I've never met and didn't come there to see. Sorry if that sounds cold but...it's just true. Drinks are stingy and insanely overpriced. I spent $90 on 4 tiny shots of vodka and 2 beers. But that was really to be expected. Once you stake out your spot close to the stage though, forget going to get another drink or go to the bathroom. There would be NO way to get back to your spot, you'd be forced to hover in the back, from which there is zero visibility of the stage. SO, if you go, here's what you need to do: (1) wear clothes for extreme heat and do not bring any jackets or purses. They do have coat check, but I'm sure it was insanely priced and the line looked like it would've taken an hour. (2) get tons of water at the bar before the show and bring several bottles to wherever you're standing because you won't be able to get another drink and the heat will get you super dehydrated very quickly. (3) do not wear contacts or lashes, there is hot, thick air jetting down from the ceiling and it will immediately dry your eyes out to the point of pain. (3) BRING EAR PLUGS. It's the next day and I still cannot hear 100%. I'm slightly concerned about hearing damage because my ears were throbbing during and after the show and the next day still hurt quite bad. (4) wear tennis shoes because you will be standing in an extremely packed crowd, being shoved and unable to plant your feet. I had to stand in the most uncomfortable position for the 4 hours, with the weight of a gigantic crowd shoved against my back, so my back and feet were excruciating during the show and the next day I don't think I'll be out of bed much. (5) if you have any reason to say you need to be in the "accessible" section, this will get you a CHAIR in a roped off section of the audience that's in the most prime location for watching the show. Of the 8 or more ppl sitting in this section, only 1 of them appeared to need to be there. It really seemed like the others were just seasoned professionals when it comes to this venue and we're gaming the system. (6) drive and park. After the show, Ubers were $60 and hard to get. Bart and buses were no longer running. Since there was no way to get a drink except for right at the very beginning, you will be sober and good to drive. Oh and 2 seconds into being in the venue, somebody tried to pick pocket me. So that was fun. read more

I love the Oasis, especially the drag shows. This place makes me feel safe of being who I am and what I represent, the lgbt community ‍. BUT, I also want to thank the staff for making sure it's a safe haven for us. What do I mean? I mean they keep the straight bachelorette parties out of our space. Discrimination, you say? Is it? Why is it ok for them to throw their straight privilege in my face when we are still trying to fight to keep our rights to get married. When straight bachelorette comes in, it makes me feel our lgbt space is for their entertainment. News flash: it is not. The space is created for us to express ourselves and not have to worry about being beat down or worse, killed. You bringing your privilege straight bachelorette parties to our space is a slap in our faces. Go elsewhere with those parties but come back when you want to celebrate love for all with us, not just yours. read more

Oasis offers us a place for drag in the spotlight for established and up-and-coming performers, comedy shenanigans, a healthy pour, always gracious and grateful owner/hosts and a riveting set of tunes which propel you to the dance floor. It has also been a place for nonprofits and community initiatives to launch and sustain their efforts with fundraising events. I have always felt safe at this venue because the owners, attendees and performers truly care for one another. read more

All the biggest drag stars perform here including Girls from Rupaul's Drag Race. There's a big open dance floor and the bartenders are always really nice. I heart Oasis. I went for the March production of Sex in the City. The crowd was awesome and friendly before the show began. There is a nice broad alley for a food truck to park and feed starving patrons. If you are starving you're just 2 blocks north of the SoMa Street Food park. The only time I've been here was to watch Kim Chi from Rupauls drag race. I liked the place because it was huge and there are tons of bars where you can get drinks. This venue fit with a drag event because there's a stage on a separate room that allows you to enjoy the show without taking away too much of the experience of those whom aren't there for the drag show. There isn't much to parking if you are driving, but often time you will get lucky since all the meters open up at night time. read more

Oasis I think I love you but I want to know for sure. So I'm going to have come here again and again and bring my friends just to make sure you are as charming and as friendly as I think you are. The decor reminds me of an old underground basement club with glitter thrown on it. There are two bars, a performance stage in the main space, a semi-private lounge with mirrors galore and a front lounge with furniture designed to make you feel Lilliputian. The sound was good for both the DJ and the drag performers. The space is wheelchair accessible but the floor are natural stone and uneven. The bathrooms are non-gendered and close room single stall with a row of sinks outside them. Even though I am so not a club person I look forward to coming here for the show and the chill spaces. read more

I've love Oasis since it re opened under new ownership. It truly is a place where everyone is accepted, until you get overly intoxicated and cause a scene. But then again, that's any bar. Oasis Is where you can be you. Gay, Straight, Lesbian, Queer, non conforming, Trans. I mean what ever your identity, you're welcome here. I love that they offer gender neutral stalls, and an open washing area, so you can get clean and let others do their dirty work. What I most like is that they aren't fond of large groups of bachelorettes. In many cases bachelorette parties come into gay bars and ruin the queer culture vibe with loud screaming and overly drunken antics. I like oasis Because I know I'm save from that punishment. TBH, I don't really know what to think. I came here for my very first drag show after my co-worker convinced me that it's super fun and that I had to check it out at least once. The show starts pretty late - around midnight. We got there a little earlier and grabbed drinks and danced. The music is pretty decent considering I thought it was going to be a weird night. There's even an outdoor rooftop you can go to if you want some air. When the drag show started, I was shocked. Maybe I lived under a rock most of my life, but there was needles, and boobs, and just really interesting acts. I can see how this could be entertaining, but it's not really my scene. Overall, it was quite and experience. Come here if you want to check out a drag show in a club. read more

I had never been to a drag show.... and I have to say I had been missing out! We decided to come here for my birthday, and omeegosh it was hilarious and awesome! We came on Saturday night so there was kind of a long line. The area is a little trashy and scary I must say, so Don't come here by yourself. One of the coolest things about this place was that the restrooms were coed... not single restroom. Like an entire room with restroom stalls full of men and women. I have never experienced this, but it's so cool to be in there with a bunch of funny/drunk/dramatic LGBTQ----- people! The actual drag shows were out of this world, some were a little too sadistic, yet fascinating. I think I could have not picked a better place to celebrate my birthday and experience my first drag show. read more

Since reaching out to the club, the manager Vanilla has been so kind and generous in helping me sort out this incident. They explained that this situation was unacceptable as all ticket holders should have access to their respective events, and said they have since parted with the security company who took it upon themselves to make their own decisions regarding the club's policies. Vanilla went over the top to make the situation right, and provided me with a refund for my unused tickets, as well as offered me some comp tickets to a future show. I really appreciate the kindness of the staff at Oasis for handling the issue so well and unexpectedly. Thank you so much! read more

I love this bar, but I had such a horrible experience tonight that made me inclined to leave a review. I was at the bar ordering two double vodka sodas and a vodka red bull, not very complicated drinks... and an older blonde lady was pouring our drinks, charged us $63 and I tipped $5 on the tab. Nearly 10%, but granted it was for three pretty simple drinks. She decided to call me out in front of the entire bar on how I "didn't tip enough". Not only was I embarrassed and ashamed, but I felt like my $5 wasn't appreciated either, so I pulled $5 more out of my pocket and left it on the bar for her. As a former bartender, if you get a "bad tip", you take it and move on - not shame the person for leaving you anything. I saw the same bartender later in the night and she continued on this route of shaming me for my tip, when we could have easily made up and moved on. Please hear me loud and clear, for pouring three basic vodka drinks, you should NOT expect a crazy high tip to begin with, even if someone asked for a double (holding the bottle for two extra seconds when pouring a drink). Regardless of the tip, the principal was all wrong, and you should never call someone out on a tip that's voluntary. This bartender made me and my party feel very unwelcome. She does not deserve a place in the service industry for this unprofessional behavior. Love this bar, but that was rough. Please please PLEASE let your servers know this message! read more

I came for the Rupaul's drag race finale for season 11. The vibe was great, the people were great the drinks were great. BUT THE HOSTS WERE SOOOOO ANNOYING. They kept talking over the show and making rude comments about Ru's dress. They had intermissions and they yelled on the microphones, it was awful. They also kept showing scenes for the end and kept rewinding it. I was so upset. If they would've revealed they had annoying hosts I would've preferred to watch it at home. read more

First time here for a U-HAUL event it was nice, they had a rooftop where you can take your drinks outside and smoke also have a bar on the roof. They're pretty spacey so there was plenty of room. BUT there is only one bathroom.. plenty of stalls though. Will come again on a ladies only event. The music though, was alright. read more

Highly advise against spending your money or your time at this place. I've given this place a shot a couple of times now and has been a terrible experience every time. You can pretty much bet on the person at the front door being a completely incompetent and terrible human being. Rude, short and obviously hates their job. I don't mind spending a cover for a good bar and drag show but neither are worth the $15 cover. There were no draft beers due to an issue with the tap and the bartender was snappy and completely unhelpful. The drag show was subpar and music just....bleh. There are so many other good bars in SF.
