zero Rating!!!! Stay away from this con artist , Mark Kenny left us high and dry and now 8 months…read moreafter our last communication tried to threaten us (two senior citizens ) via text, claiming to have tools and materials left at our home -he did not leave anything here! And that we violated his contract because we hired another company to fix and complete the job three months after we heard a from him!!. We have proof that his work was not done and what was done had to be redone by a competent contractor --that we hired three months after Kenny last communication. Now almost a year after he started ( like other reviews-he made excuses, not show up and when he did would work only a few hours , his "helper" did nothing. We were extremtly patient and paid for all supplies in advance and he did nothing produce the supplies or receipts. Now he sent a text in an attempt to extort more money from us!? Ironically due to our ages , we were going to just let him get away with frauding us out of our money for supplies ($1,100) and let go of taking him to small claim court him for shoddy inferior work (another $1250) It's time those who been scammed talk to each other and hold HIM accountable. We are going to the Police Department to see if this text is a scam and what we can do legally, criminally or Civil Court. I will support anyone who has been taken by Mark and his gf Val and this so called company. Please contact me. Mark if you read this, know we have phone conversations recorded, texts saved and photos of your work taken by an professional and we find out you did not pull permits!! Your are crook and don't you dare set a foot on our property! I pray to God you are not working with Seniors in that other job you claimed you had - that kept you so busy. What an awful person. I see you screw over your own family members In reading your review. Do not bully me.

After professional cleanup, the headache of dealing with an insurance adjuster, and the due diligence of meeting with multiple contractors to get bids on putting the basement back together, we went with Rentz Remodeling and Contracting. And wow. The difference between someone like Matt Rentz and other contractors we've dealt with has been night and day. A selfish part of me wants to keep this knowledge to myself, in case we need him again, but he's too good NOT to share. First of all, his bid was extremely fair. Since we were dealing with repairs and not an elective home remodel, we didn't have a ton of money set aside. Just what was left of insurance after a not-great cleanup crew charged us through the nose. Matt detailed out everything he would do to fix the basement, with line items for both labor and cost of materials. There was no guessing or having to ask for more detail; he came prepared with paperwork and was always extremely open about what everything cost. Secondly, he and his crew were incredibly polite and professional. In a pandemic, having new people in your house is always a little anxiety-provoking. The first thing they did when they arrived is put up a plastic zip door between the basement stairs and the rest of the house. And they never came through it into the main house. We worked out a system where he would text if he needed to ask any questions, which meant I could go anywhere in the house without worrying that I couldn't hear them if they needed anything. But for the most part, they came and went according to the needs of the work, and I didn't have to do much of anything at all. Thirdly, Matt and his crew are not just great contractors, but good guys. We had a problem with the hose discharge line for our sump pump freezing over during a cold snap, so my husband had temporarily removed it. Matt noticed and pointed out that he'd seen excess water leak through basement walls before, and texted with me about potential solutions we could try ourselves to keep it functional through the winter. Not an upsell--but just because he had knowledge he thought we could use. I'd recommend Rentz Remodeling and Contracting to anyone. (I've already given his name to a few friends.) And the next time we need anything done around the house, these guys are at the top of my list. A++, 10/10.
