It had the original cabinets from the 1970s. The shelves weren't even, and there was barely any counter space to work with. We knew we wanted to replace all the cabinets, get quartz counterop, and upgrade the layout to be more functional. We called another competitor first, and they quoted us that the bare minimum of what we were asking for would be over $45,000, which was more than twice our budget. When we met Bill, he wasn't pushy or salesy. We told him our budget and what we were looking for, and he was able to meet every expectation. It took about 8 weeks for our cabinets to come in/be made. Immediately after that, Joe and the crew came and completed our kitchen renovation within 2 weeks. My partner and I work from home, and the renovation did not disturb our workflow at all. But from the very beginning, the team at HomeWorks made everything feel doable--and even exciting. We weren't just updating the kitchen--we went all in. They installed new custom cabinets, quartz countertops, a beautiful tile backsplash, and luxury vinyl flooring throughout the entire first floor. On top of that, we got a new front door, all new baseboards and casing, and honestly the cherry on top: gorgeous crown molding that gives the whole space a finished, high-end feel. One thing I really appreciated right off the bat was their quote process. It was super detailed--nothing vague or rushed. They broke everything down clearly so I knew what to expect in terms of cost and timeline. I felt like they were being straight with me, which meant a lot, especially as someone doing this for the first time. We had two design meetings to choose all the materials, and while I definitely needed that extra time to make decisions (I wanted to LOVE every choice), their design team was incredibly patient and helpful. I asked him how he possibly came up with the rate, he stated that I was paying $75/hour for the workers time, and that price started the minute they left their shop. They also had to go to Home Depot, and take a lunch, which I guess also cost me $75/hour. When i asked him why this wasn't discussed with me prior, or advised me of the price change before completion, Jeff stated the workers could take the chandeliers down and take them apart because "The price is the price". If Jeff would've informed me of the pricing details in advanced we would've had an entirely different convo **edit after the owners comments: your guys asked if I wanted to have the fixture moved, didn't say it would increase the price or how difficult it would be to do. While we are on the topic, there are now 2 holes in my ceiling from the fixture being moved. When I asked the workers about them they stated I should have someone else come and fix the holes. I guess your company only makes holes, and can't fix them. A reputable cmpny would've established a price prior to the work being done. You intentionally increase the perceived difficulty of the work w/o specifically stating it will increase the price. I am the customer, you are the provider, the provider is responsible for keeping me informed of price increase. I wasn't going to be critical of the work, but since you replied with lies, let's just have at it. -In regards to the glue removed from my ceiling, that's a lie, it's still there see picture below. Removing the medallion took them 20 seconds, i watched them pull it down. - In regards to the boxes being missing or broken, how is a customer, who has no electrical experience supposed to know that? Any other provider would've said, hey Ryan this box is broken, I'm going to fix it but it's going to cost X amount of dollars. Oh and you are going to have to hire someone else to fix the ceiling since we don't do that. Your guys arrived to my house then called you and told you the extent of the work. You called me, and told me the only extra price would've been $75/ hr for dressing the chandelier that had the crystals. I specifically asked you if the hrly was only for the dressing of the 1 chandelier and you confirmed it was. If you would've been upfront, I would've understood the extent of the work, We could've agreed to the new price, YOU could've performed the work as stated, and I would've happily paid for the service provided. -in rgrds to $: if you are charging me $450 for the fixtures, then that surely would've included the drive time and from the shop and some of the time that you worked? Nope guess not. that should put us at 4 hours of billable time per man. $600. $1050 total. It's not about the $, it's the way it was handled. It's not my fault that you underquoted a project and lost a team of workers for a day. That's on you!You are the 1sr cmpny I have come across that operated with surprise pricing at the end. Lastly, tell your employees to show up at the job site wearing masks. I shouldn't need to tell them to put a mask on, and I shouldn't have to have them talking to me all day without one on. I had to host Thanksgiving with my kitchen looking like a disaster. Jason was contracted by HD and AIS to remove my old backsplash and install drywall for a new backsplash. He told me he was going to Menards to grab drywall while his apprentice completed the removal. He then discovered I wasn't on his schedule to do the backsplash install and assumed HD took that part of the job away from him (which turned out later to not be true). He spent the rest of the morning expressing his frustration with HD then ultimately quit before the job was done, lying to me and telling me now he doesn't handle drywall at all and the demo was complete (which it wasn't). He also: -Lied to AIS that he couldn't complete the job because my counters were in the way (never told me that was an issue), to make sure he got paid. -Damaged adjacent walls during backsplash removal which he promised to repair and paint, but never did. -Filled my personal trashcan with backsplash and drywall debris so full that i could barely move it. Had to hand scoop the debris into contractor bags at 12:30am before trash day in the cold. -Borrowed and didn't properly reassemble my shop vac, blowing drywall dust into my house when used next and causing breathing difficulties for my wife and 3 small children. -Ghosted all communication from me afterwards when I tried to find out what happened and why he left abruptly. -Made disparaging remarks about HD and myself on my doorbell camera like "I don't want to hear no f*cking complaints . . . we're done". As a result of Jason's actions, my kitchen project has been pushed back weeks, HD has had to refund me and recover their money from Jason, and he has lost all future jobs from the HD. Save yourself the stress and find someone who will respect you and your home.

Our baseboards, moulding, doors and trim all have particles in the paint because his son painted them in the garage during cotton wood season. We offered for them to use the basement, but they didn't want to carry all the materials up and down the stairs. The caulking around the crown molding started to separate within a month. The paint job needed a second coat in some places and you can see our old color through it. He was mad because I didn't like the seam in the countertop. He didn't do that part, but I know he was aggravated with the situation. They tore it out and charged us to do it, when the other company would have done it. I went with his countertop people, who had the same counter I wanted, but didn't offer it to me because she said I wouldn't like the seam. That was the pattern I wished I had. AND I paid more for the one I didn't like. He damaged our new fridge when he put a ladder up against it. They never worked a full day because they had other jobs and our kitchen was not usable for over 3 weeks. The plumber he had put in the sink did it incorrectly and we had a leak within a week. My husband fixed it because he did not want them back in the house. His attention to details and the finished product was not very good. I think he just did not like us, or the job and didn't care. We paid $40,000 to be dissatisfied. We purchased our own appliances, and backsplash. They redid the living room moulding, doors and painted. They also did the cabinets and painted down our stairs so it would match the kitchen. Definitely not worth the money we paid for the quality of service and product we received. It looked ok in the pictures when done. But up close, you can see a lot of flaws. This was back in 2021. Weird I got asked to do a review now on yelp. I didn't do one sooner because we know a lot of the same people. Now I'm just disgusted that we paid so much for a crappy outcome.

Not only was their workmanship impeccable but they stood behind their work well beyond the warranty period. The original finished bathroom was completed in late 2016. The one issue discovered after the warranty period passed was a cracked tile in the shower resulting in some minimal water damage. Six plus years after the completion of the master bathroom Borchert arranged for a contractor to effect repairs additionally providing a reimbursement check for over half the cost of expenses. How many contractors would backup their work six plus years after the completion of their project. Borchert is the only one I know of. Easy and pleasant working with Jordan and Ron at Borchert. Without hesitation I highly recommend Borchert for kitchen or bathroom remodeling.
