The completed work did not match the original design or the agreement, including a frame and sill cut to the wrong size, a center support piece that was not replaced as promised, and composite sills installed without approval. The 2 windows are noticeably different, they stick out further than the other 7 windows. sent messages & emails to Stuart offering an opportunity to correct the work, but received no response. I had to hire another contractor to remove and redo the entire job. I would not recommend him for any carpentry or detailed home repairs based on my experience.

He spent about five hours at my condo on Friday January 9…read more I hired him to paint, install a new light fixture, tighten up an outlet under the kitchen sink and install a new switch plate replacing the old style toggle switch. During that time he sexually harassed me, both physically and verbally. Because there's nothing behind my condo but trees, there are a few houses but they're obscured by the foliage, I wanted my curtains taken down. He needed to patch the holes where the rods were and paint. The first thing he said to me within ten minutes of his arrival was: "Well, you won't be able to walk around the house naked anymore." Later on he said something to the effect, I'm paraphrasing here, of the two us of us spending our lives together. We were in the kitchen discussing how far down I wanted the new fixture to hang when he suddenly came up to me, got about a foot away, maybe less and said: "What color are your eyes?" My eyes are brown, plain old brown. But he went on for about a minute or so remarking about my eyes. He went out for lunch for about an hour and I went to the grocery store. As it was getting close to him leaving he saw the bottle of wine I'd bought and said: "I'm almost finished. Now we can have some wine." I have to buzz people into my condo. He had jerry-rigged the door so I wouldn't have to get up whenever he came in, but he took the tape off after lunch, so I had to buzz him in again. When he came through the door he said: "You just let anybody in. I could have been some creepy guy." I thought: talk about projection, you're that creepy guy. But the very worst comment he made was when he was working on the outlet under the sink. He wanted to use duct tape and he was trying to get it unstuck so he could unroll it. He said: "How am I going to bind you up if I can't get this unstuck?" Twice he put he hands on my shoulders, and once he "accidentally on purpose" bumped into me and put his hand on my hip. I was sitting on a bar stool in the kitchen playing a NYT word game on my phone and he came up behind me, put his face close enough to mine that he could have kissed me and started asking me questions about how the game was played. He stood there for a very long two to three minutes. The entire time he was here, once I understood what was going on, I was determined not to antagonize him in any way. I didn't encourage him but I didn't want to make him angry. We were alone in my condo, with him behaving in that fashion I had no idea what he might do if I rebuffed him, or told him to leave. As he was leaving I realized that my concerns were well-founded. He started telling me about an "old lady" who'd written a bad review, threatened to sue him and then got back to him and asked him to come back and do more work. The more he talked about her, the angrier he was getting. We discussed him coming back to do more work. As I said, I didn't want to antagonize him, wanted him to think that everything was fine. When the time came for me to pay him I was sitting on my sectional, on the chaise end, which is where I always sit because I can stretch my legs out. There's a chair less than two feet away from the end of the chaise, which is where he could have sat. But instead he sat on the chaise, so I had to move my legs to the side so they wouldn't be touching him. He charged me more than what he had told me the jobs were going to cost. When he told me the figure the thought that went through my head, because he was sitting so close was that if I offered to "take it out in trade", he'd lower the price. I have blocked his number and I've blocked him on Facebook. When I went to his FB profile I saw photos of his wife as well as her name, her last name isn't the same as his. I sent her a message yesterday via messenger, telling her that her husband is a creep. I've not heard back, doubt I will. I don't know what his vehicle looks like, I wish I did because if I were to see it around here I'd call the police. This guy is a creep. Don't even think about hiring him.

Had a nasty storm come through and damage some of my tree in my backyard. Wendell's just happen to…read morebe at my neighbors house. The owner did not hesitate to come over and give advice on what best to do. He walked through the whole backyard and told me, not only the damaged trees, but ones that needed servicing right away to protect my family and house. He was informative and showed signs that other tree were being attacked by carpenter ants which I had no idea. In the end we had five trees removed a week later and most all were almost hollowed out by ants. Wendells through inspection saved my family and home from a nasty event that could have taken place in the future.

After…read morecontemplating several alternatives for our home we chose to work with Dillman & Upton primarily considering our initial experience with their designer and our perception of their team's quality Beginning with our first conversation, we believed that our designer provided sound advice and guidance, had valuable experience, was knowledgeable, considerate, thorough, and accessible for advice, suggestions and questions. The designer proved out, thankfully. Interactions with the D&U office staff were overall good. A significant surprise was the assignment of both subcontractors other than D&U's usual team. While it is impossible to directly compare our subcontractors with D&U's longstanding team, our's did not have deep, meaningful, value added experience dealing with D&U schematics, overall design and details. This required or significant involvement of our time to interpret details of the blueprint to affect the design goals. We had to call our designer and adjourn major meetings several times for reinforcement of the construction details. Requesting and requiring that some work being redone and changed to conform with a specific design specifications. We had to be our own advocate for a correct job and request repairs for damages to our home (three walls which require our own sanding, priming and repainting). Most disconcerting we had to be our own on-site project manager. A very important aspect we believe dealing with D&U would have provided. Perhaps D&U will say this is over stated and normal construction angst. However, we do not believe it was completed in good faith, as contracted and representative. It was far more tension to get what we paid for wanted or believe was appropriate. In retrospect we believe that the subcontractors should've been highly versed in D&U design goals and had the ability and desire to fully comprehend blueprints and call D&U directly when necessary to discern and clarify. Is this the best craftsmanship that our community offers? Opportunity for improvement include addressing all of the above concerns. Additionally, the price, documentation and communication regarding change orders must be improved. We recognize that some contractors or self-motivated and completed high-quality work, the first time. At our projects conclusion the project, while painful several times, was mostly completed successfully.

Being a single woman, it's common to feel like you're being talked down to by contractors, but that was never the case with these guys. I felt very comfortable with Steve, the guy who comes out to quote jobs, from day one. Once the work began, I met Casey, Steve's son, and their great crew of guys. Casey was just as wonderful as Steve, and their crew of guys were friendly and hard-working. They were very efficient and finished the work at my house pretty quickly, but you would never know how quickly based on the quality of the job and the way they left my property. They left my place looking so much better than before they were here and my patio looks amazing! My only regret is not hiring them to work on the front of my house as well, as the front now pales in comparison to the back! I would not hesitate to recommend or to hire these guys again. My wood privacy fence was roughly 30 years old. It seemed like I spending a lot of time repairing…read moreit piece by piece over the years. My wife and I decided to have the fence replaced, but didn't know who to call. I will add that it's a known fact that fences of any kind are expensive to have installed. I mulled over the thought of ripping out the old fence and building a new one (how hard could it really be?), then I realized how much labor would be involved. I also have a dog, so fence down time was a factor here. A couple of neighbors had Statewide install a fence for them. We were luckily enough to be able to see their work before giving them a jingle. The initial quoting process was pretty easy. The consultant came out and measured the lot. He then gave us options with regard to materials and layout. He also gave us ballpark dollar and time estimates based on our selections. This quote took place toward the middle of 2020, so lumber was already a little more expensive...and there was a longer wait time for it. We decided to go with Statewide based on reviews that we read, the work they did on neighborhood fencing as well as their professionalism and courtesy. Yeah, they're expensive, but they build the fences from scratch based on your exact specifications. Statewide came out the week before Christmas 2020 and installed the fence. I was very impressed with the quality of the build as well as the cleanup after the job. The work crew was professional and dedicated to completing the job with quality in mind. I truly appreciate the work they did, especially during the holidays when the temperatures were consistently cold. If you're in the market for a fence, I'd recommend giving Statewide a call. Like I said, they're a little more on the pricey side, but the quality of their work is fantastic. This is one of those cases where you're going to get what you pay for.
