Shortly after that, the hostess came up and did not even say hello or welcome. The food was ready in a short period of time and she did say thank you. The steak burrito was a good size I thought. I was surprised that the steak in the burrito was more of a crumble and not a sliced type. In the picture, you will see a side of avocado and a small plastic container with a sauce. This sauce is on the hotter side and I believe I'm a good judge of hot and mild. I will give it another chance and try a different meal next time just for the sake of variety, not because I did not like this tonight.

We live in Chicago and know good food. The hotel is dog friendly, it is so unique to be able to "dine" inside hotel lobby and have the food brought over to you. The food and service has never ever disappointed us. We skip the tacos; the flavorful entrees, especially the pork, beef and seafood have always been mouth watering. We really love the Ceviche, nachos, black bean dip and arepas .... yum.

We switched to beer and wine which were fine but I'd say for sure to stay away from mixed drinks here. We had shrimp ceviche which is a fine appetizer in a very tasty broth. The guacamole was also first rate! The entrees not so much. Our paellas' were far too salty but still passable. The beef tacos were also quite good. Staff were helpful but couldn't overcome the kitchen and bar issues. Also an inviting; old school type dining area that harkens back to kinder/gentler times. So a word to the wise: if you navigate well you can get a good meal at Tapa Taco but you must choose with discernment.

The restaurant was clean, quiet, the bathrooms were clean, the cashier so sweet and patient--I couldn't ask for more! We ordered a asada burrito dinner, a chorizo burrito, and a large horchata to split. We were given a basket of chips and a delicious salsa that had flavor, but wasn't too spicy! The burritos were generously filled and had avocado! That's not something I see everywhere. The beans were a great consistency, the rice was soft and flavorful, and the horchata was top notch! It had a unique flavor, too, and wasn't watery. The cup also wasn't overfilled with ice! While we were patiently waiting for the burritos, we fell victim to the slideshow and decided we just had to try a gordita lol. It was SO good, but the portions were so filling we had to take the rest of the gordita and part of a burrito with. The tomatillo sauce was perfect and the red sauce had quite a kick to it, but not enough that it was painful. The food didn't NEED any extra sauce, but I like to try them, anyways! I wished I lived in this area so I could eat more gorditas, but I will definitely stop here again if I am around! If you're lucky enough to live in the area, please do support this sweet business!

The beans and rice tasted odd, maybe they used a really salty seasoning mix. It is not like anything I'm used to having with Mexican food and I didn't like it. I added lime (limon), but I didn't like their salsas. Overall, it was okay 3/5. My boyfriend ordered: 3 tacos - chicken (pollo), steak (asada), and Al pastor: Onion (cebolla) and cilantro - He said they were okay, but not very flavorful either. - Of the three, he liked the chicken the most. - He also wasn't a fan of the salsa. Chips & salsa: They give you a good size brown paper bag filled with chips and a nice size salsa. - I was not a fan of the salsa, but I like the chips; you can tell they make them fresh in house. - My boyfriend was not a fan of either the salsa or the chips. He said they were thick and greasy. - I agree they are thick and they do have grease, but that's because they are freshly fried corn tortillas, which I think that's a good thing.
