I asked about this and COVID sorta killed it. * No pen and paper in the rooms anymore. * Sink had the tiniest stream ever to it. * Shower was 90% faucet water no matter how I pulled on the thing. Those were what's noticeable. Now for the upsides: * Slept really well. Bed had a firm mattress with some give to it, ideal. * Shower was still powerful enough to wash me - I've had worse with 100% streams working. * Fridge worked. Woo. * Friendly staff despite the lack of breakfast. So... since sleep is king at a hotel to me, I'll give the benefit of 3 stars despite the issues I had with my room. To be fair, I could have tried to switch rooms, but no guarantee the others would do any better or would have other issues. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't, as they say. Other new additions include a garden area as well as a sculpture garden. During the Petroglyph festival this November, an arrowhead maker was on hand. The museum also sponsors docent led hikes on China Lake Naval base to see an extensive collection of ancient petroglyphs spread along Little petroglyph trail, 1.5 miles of non stop native American rock art down a dry creek bed. You need to be in pretty good shape to manage the rocky trail and go through a fairly extensive security check to gain access and early sign up is required, but we all agreed the hike was worth it. The docents at the museum are very helpful and run a movie on the petroglyphs on request.
