So glad we stayed here! We had a lovely drive down from San Francisco, saw the elephant seal beach, gawked at a heard of zebra, and swooned over the lush wine country before this neighborhood seemed to pop up right out of nowhere. It is nestled in to the hillside on the west side of Paso Robles and therefore avoids all of the track houses of the east side and is a truly unique home.
I was very pleased to have access to the two car garage. Our explorer fit in there just fine and it was nice knowing that it was locked up safe and sound at night, although I doubt it'd be a problem if you slept all night with the door open any how. When you walk in it is immediately clear how spacious this home is! The ceilings are vaulted and there are plenty of windows. The bedrooms are also all nicely sized. There are two kings and a queen and they all fit in the bedrooms with plenty of space: no sardines here! The furniture is in great condition, which is important to me.
There is a living area, dining area, family area and barstool area. It was nice to just spread out and hang out wherever but I really preferred to be outside on the porch! There are some seats out there on the top floor of the home and it was awesome to just sit out there in the morning and drink my coffee and watch the deer! It also felt very private because they were not kidding when they decided to call it Oaktop Terrace. You are literally in the trees and it is wonderful! The backyard is great too. There are deer that come by and it is great to watch them. They have a deer fence though so it was great to see them and know they weren't going to get at you either. We grilled out back a few times and ate out there too. The weather was perfect for it.
Everything was really nice about this home, but it was the tiny things that made it perfect. First, the wifi and cable were great to have. I could have worked from here but nah I was on vacation! Also, the hosts have stocked this place with anything you could need. Don't bother bringing anything for the kitchen because they have all the dishes, forks, cups, utensils you need. There was a coffee maker and toaster. There's a jet tub in one of the THREE bathrooms. They even put luggage racks in the rooms. There was a washer and dryer to use. The towels were all new and I think the sheets were too. We even walked to downtown to get some lunch one day, we walked again to get some ice cream. It was nice to have the car but we didn't really need it until we went wine tasting.
Speaking of wine, this place is just a 5 minute drive from so many wineries. We went to our favorites: Le Cuvier, Tolo, and Tobin James. Once we picked up some bottles we went back to the house, sat on the porch and just enjoyed the peaceful times and the wildlife. I even saw my first bluejay! This would be a great house to get for wine or beer festivals because it could accommodate a few couples with plenty of space to spare and without stepping on each others' toes.
So, sorry for the long post but I just wanted to share this gem. It was the perfect, relaxing end to our Cali vacation. You won't be disappointed here! We will definitely be back and we will bringing some friends with us. read more
