This property offers a Friday-Sunday rental for weddings, events, retreats, and more! When we were touring, Maria shared a disaster emergency group would be staying there shortly to simulate rescue operations during a hurricane! Their status as an NPO and commitment to enriching the lives of others deeply resonates for me, and I encourage you to learn more about their programs when you meet with Maria. Selfless dedication to others is a rare gift and must always be treasured. They have lodging for up to 50 people in two homes. This is an important feature in our perfect venue as we are trying to achieve a more relaxed, "family reunion" type atmosphere at our nuptials. The homes are modestly appointed, but spacious and clean. The main home has a massive kitchen, large deck, and pool area with plenty of space to hang out and enjoy their property. Finally, let's talk about the actual "wedding" facilities and price! They have a sprawling private estate with tons of potential for the creative and adventurous bride, but they have an established ceremony area under a massive oak serving as an altar with a terraced seating area for guests. It offers a few different processional/entrance choices and is right next to the barn area for the reception. The barn has plumbed bathrooms, but with a high guest count, some rentals would be appropriate. There is also parking nearby. Having all the spaces to be used in one close area is nice for guest comfort so people aren't hiking all around just to get from ceremony to cocktails to dinner (especially the older folks). At Dancing Deer- YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF YOUR WEDDING! (within reason). You get to pick all your preferred vendors for everything!! Food, drink, booze of your choosing, rentals, decor, activities-EVERYTHING! This is important to the budget conscious and picky bride alike!! And while we're on the topic, Dancing Deer is able to offer remarkably competitive prices for their whole weekend rental- less than many "one day" venues (usually a 5-8 hour facilities rental). I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're wanting a true getaway feel with plenty of time to relax and enjoy your family and friends beyond the wedding event!

It was pretty awesome to wake up in the morning, look out the window and see a few deer or some peacocks wondering on the rolling hills and around the trees. As for the surrounding areas, they are 30 minutes for less from San Luis Obisbo, Pismo Beach, Paso Robles, Hearst Castle, Cambria, Morro Bay, etc.

There is a Nespresso type coffee maker in the room and a tea kettle. Also, a couple bottles of drinking water per day are provided. Connected to the hotel is the wonderful Cattlemen's Bar which is beautifully renovated and has a nice local wine list and makes creative cocktails. There's also a breakfast restaurant which I went to for take-out coffee (the coffee maker in the room made weak coffee). Also, a steakhouse which we did not visit but is also recently renovated and looks nice. Service at the hotel was professional and friendly. The only downside of the hotel is that we were so busy with activities that we did not get to take full advantage of the hotel offerings.

The instructions posted on the wall do not match the buttons on the remote. We ended up doing a web search for the unit's instruction manual. That's pretty sad. These things should be more intuitive. We liked having a fridge and microwave in the room. The downside to our room was that it was on the 2nd floor and we had to carry our things up the stairs since there was no elevator. Do ask for a ground floor if you want to avoid walking up stairs. I became more mindful of these details in recent years when husband suffered from shortness of breath and had a challenging time doing stairs. The property looks nice with several different buildings surrounding a center common grassy lawn area with curved walkways & mini bridge next to their herb garden and koi pond. There are little fish and some ginormous ones in their koi pond. There is also a pool at the rear of the property. It was easy to find parking near our room. The grounds look lovely from your room or from a distance. But we noticed dog poop on the grass when we wanted to walk over to one of the sofas in the grassy area. BE CAREFUL when walking on the grassy parts. People who bring pets here are not mindful about cleaning up after their pets. This is in stark contrast to our stay at Cambria Shores Inn during the previous days (a pet friendly hotel with lots of little dogs staying and no dog poop messes in the outdoor common areas). I guess the pet owners who stay at Cambria Shores Inn are more respectful than the ones who stay here at Paso Robles Inn. Another thing about the outdoor seating is that they look great from a distance, but their uncleanliness can be seen once you walk closer. They were dirty and there was even one set of sofas that had poop on them. It's as if the hotel staff does not go around and wipe the cushions down each day (which I have seen hotel staff do at other hotels and it truly makes a difference). It looks like a nice place to sit & relax outside, but doesn't really work out that way in practice. Hotel is conveniently located near shops & restaurants. The one challenge is crossing Spring St. which is way busier than I ever imagined it to be before booking a room here. LOL The downtown area is pleasant, and you don't need to drive anywhere unless you're visiting a nearby winery.

Martin who is the owner and purchased this vineyard in 2005, he built this winery literally from the ground up. He is a native from New Zealand and brought the Kiwi culture into this unique winery which is 1 of 300 wineries in Paso Robles. Julia was very helpful & kind, and an excellent wine pourer. I purchased the 2023 Kapua (white blend) for $36 and a short sleeved t shirt for $26. This being our first stop on our "Wine Line" tour was worth the views and ambience, great tasting and full of the Kia Ora spirit!

I especially want to recognize the young woman working the Starbucks/food service counter in the lobby during our visit. She was the only employee handling the entire operation and somehow still managed to provide friendly, professional, 5-star service while nonstop guests continued ordering food and drinks for hours. She never stopped hustling and kept everything moving with a great attitude. Honestly, the fact that one person was left to run the entire cafe by herself feels like a management staffing issue, not an employee issue. Management should make sure the cafe is properly staffed, and if someone calls in sick or doesn't show up, leadership should step in to help rather than leaving one employee to carry the entire workload alone. That said, our cafe experience remained positive largely because of her work ethic and professionalism. She deserves recognition for holding it all together and taking care of guests under what looked like a very stressful situation. I only wish I had gotten her name.

It was extremely loud every time someone would get off the elevator. Our room was also on the back of the building by the highway and the road got pretty loud. Luckily I had my sound machine which helped a little but it was still pretty loud. The room itself was clean but they only gave 3 towels for a room with 2 beds. I feel like 4 should be the minimum. The beds were also so hard and the pillows were not good. We did not sleep well. They have a nice big open lobby and a bistro that we didn't go to. They have water in the lobby but it tasted weird. Parking is confusing because the front desk never asked if I had a car. She gave me a parking pass in the stack of check in stuff but I didn't notice it. The next morning I got a notice on my windshield that I didn't check in my car. When I went to talk to her about it she said she would take care of it. I still don't understand if parking is free, or not. I saw QR codes outside on signs to pay for parking.

Upon arrival, We walked in with another couple, and there wasn't anyone to greet us for about 5 to 10 minutes. The other couple texted, called without connection. There were no instructions on checking in either. So we were just confused together for a while until our host appeared. In addition, a dog was barking intermittently the whole night, for both nights that we stayed. So that detracted a little but overall a good experience and would recommend.
