They have several bouncy houses and arts and crafts for the kids to stay occupied. Try to come early because parking is limited. You can bring your own lawn chairs so you can enjoy the entertainment and hang out. There's lots of local businesses that give away free stuff.

Inflation strikes again! The admission ticket is $20 (There are VIP admission tickets for…read more$100...are people really buying these?) If you didn't buy tickets in advance...you will kick yourself because it's $30 at the entrance. I went today (my first time) with a coworker and we had fun. She pointed out in prior years, they had many more vendors to buy from. I ate (split the cost/food with a coworker to keep our cost down): BBQ oysters, calamari/catfish/french fries, BBQ ribs/greens, pinot grigio (only Dale Vino sold alcohol...their Villa Sandi(?) pinot was so good! And, I'm not even a fan of white wine!). There wasn't anything that I ate that tasted bad. So, that was a bonus! It's crazy difficult to find a vendor that sold bottled water. On a hot day like today in Pittsburg, why didn't anyone think of selling water? Missed opportunity for sure. I will say one of the vendors by the entrance sold water bottles. Everyone else sold lemonade, slushies, etc. What is that going to do to keep me hydrated?

They ended up having a few extra available the day of ($40) - but I wouldn't count on that every year. Designated drivers are $5. We had someone pick us up and drop us off, so I'm not sure what they offered for DD's. The event is mostly inside the community center, with air conditioning. They also had some high top tables outside and a few more beer samplings. There was a great band, playing hits that everyone loves. The festival featured 20+ breweries, all sampling 2 beers or more. There was also a home brew contest. You sampled each one and then marked your favorite on a slip of paper and submitted it. They were all really strong entries! I'm not big into IPA's, I'm more of an oatmeal stout or light Oktoberfest kinda girl. I really enjoyed Heretic Brewing Company's chocolate porter and Deschute's stout. The blood orange and pear hard coders were also fun. El Gallito was on site, serving up what seemed to be most of their menu, along with options of fries and burgers. There was a bit of a line but they handled it really well. We had a burrito and 2 tamales, for $8! They also had a caricature artist and free water. We really had a great time and plan to be back in the future!

It's hot and there's not really that many corny things around.. actually, came in and saw a lot of empty chairs .. that shoulda been a sign right then and there .. turns out that area was specified for some sort of corn shucking .. then, went around and tried to see whats there to do with corn .. in my head, i was thinking corn on the cob, corn ice cream, corn-y jokes .. haha had to do it .. but seriously, there was 1 booth w corn in a cup .. whoop flippity doo .. there was another w fire roasted corn that we ended up skipping out on .. ended up getting the rest of the carnival food people get .. snow cones, garlic fries, lemonade .. all what you'd expect for a fatkid in the making .. there was a cool hamster ball thing that went over water .. that was pretty cool .. ponies, a mini petting zoo .. rides n carnival games .. overall, def not worth the drive .. although entertaining, id rather look forward to the lines upon lines, inexplicable heat and the sweet-smelling Team Edward hating breath of garlic than go back here .. unless they get more booths ..

Honestly, this fair is only worth it if you live close by, but not worth it drive out to. We are used to going to the Alameda County Fair, so in comparison, this is a very small venue. Everything is on a much smaller scale so there aren't as many rides, games, and vendors. We arrived before the gates opened and there was a queue forming in front of the gate, but once they started letting people in, there was no line/ crowd control and it was chaotic. Funnily, rather than security, the person who was hired as a clown was the only one doing crowd control and directing people where to go. He was great. There were some interesting and unique parts about this fair like camel rides, a sea lion show, and free roller skating in the roller rink.
