We were looking to get our front yard regraded and had an Oaklawn employee come out to give us the estimate. He was friendly and knowledgeable. I got the proposal via email and sent back the contract with no problems. We were going out of the country and had to wait until we got back to get the work done so we scheduled the job for the day we got back. Of course, it was raining that day. We were expecting a call to confirm the job and let us know what time the workers would be coming out but we never got one prior to that date or that morning. So around 9am I called and was told that yes, the weather did not permit them to do the work and they would need to reschedule. She called me back and we rescheduled for the next week. On the day of the job, again, we had not gotten a call to confirm or let us know when the workers would be coming so we called them and they said the workers would be there in the next 90 minutes or so. When they arrived my husband called me to let me know, but then called me back to let me know they had left. Oaklawn did attempt to call me but I didn't get their message until later. Apparently the person who did our estimate had left the company and they were confused as to what work we were requesting. I was confused because they had a paper record of our proposal (that I had signed and sent back) so I was never really able to figure out why they didn't know what they were supposed to be doing. I spoke to their office person to clarify and then got a call from another individual about 30 minutes later asking the same questions. Once all of that confusion was resolved, the workers came back and and completed the job that day. The actual workers worked really hard - 8 hours straight in the strong heat. It's too soon to see any sprouting but so far everything looks good. Other than the lack of communication with us and the confusion about the actual job from the office, we were happy with the work. I'd recommend a confirmation call to customers a day or two prior to the scheduled job to eliminate confusion and keep the customer in the loop. If we had gotten a confirmation call, all the issues could have been figured out prior and time would have been saved on both ends. read more
