Traveling from portland to Wild Safari my coolant blew on my H2 Hummer and this was one of the nearest auto repair, Monte the owner was so professional and went above and beyond for my family couldn't thank him enough. Not only did he wait for my car to get towed to his shop well past his closing time, he also had one of his employee drop us off at a nearest hotel, and he promised to fix the car first thing in the morning. Around 9am he got the car fixed and ask if we needed to get picked up, he sent his wife to pick us up from the hotel, guy is honest and highly recommended, price for the repair is very reasonable. And on my way home, car lasted 10 miles and blew the engine. No oil. Owner said that it was my fault cuz I didn't check the oil. He still has my blue little civic and late dad's pool cue and if I see him ,( the owner)I will be escorted to jail and then to prison, should have sued him, but it was a civic, and not a Porsche. I had a late night fat trip for Uber and broke down in the middle of the night. I was able to get ahold of Monte before hours of operation and he was courteous and straight forward. Once I was able to get my car towed to their location he diagnosed got the part and fixed fast and for a super fair price! 100000% recommend this place for any automobile needs. If you're looking to get your car repaired, I'd avoid this place unless you want inefficient work that you'll have to get fixed (on your own dime) 5 days later. The guy was friendly and replaced a failed clutch for us, but after 5 days, we noticed that the car wouldn't accelerate properly. We took it to the Subaru dealership and they said that the bolts were not put back on tightly enough and it was the fault of the previous mechanic. We kindly asked him to pay for the "fix-it" bill, and he refused. He charged us $1,500 to replace the clutch, and then wouldn't even man up and admit he made a mistake by paying the low $102 bill. Wow. Unless you're in the mood to break down right after you broke down and payed a hefty bill, I'd steer clear of Oakland Auto Repair. ***I'd like to update that Oakland Auto eventually footed the $102 bill. It took reports to the Better Business Bureau, as well as filing a small claims report-- but after weeks, the owner finally paid what he should've paid for in the beginning. read more
