I needed a key made as a duplicate for a generator. It was not a standard key. They took the time to try to duplicate it and used three of their blanks. I believe it was the owner who said it might not work so they did not want to charge me. He said if it worked just come back another day and pay for it. After they made the key, he then said don't even worry about coming back. It turned out the time he took to make the key and it worked. They went above and beyond. It's rarely you see such A level of service nowadays. It truly reminded me of back in the 70s When customer service meant something. I highly recommend this Ace Hardware store. read more

I walked in today to return some items and immediately a short older woman approached me and barked in my face that I was not going to be allowed to return the items. They were gas cans (unused and still locked) and she told me that they were considered hurricane items and they were not taking any of those And then she snatched my receipt out of my hand and told me they aren't returnable anyway because they were from a different store and the stores are separate entities. While I understand both of her points, her rudeness was absolutely unnecessary and unappreciated. this extremely rude level of customer service has soured us for using this store and our family will no longer be shopping here. Perhaps this should not be the employee that you station at the front of the store - she makes for a very bad first impression. read more

ACE on Oakhurst Rd, Seminole, Florida 33776 This store employs MEN who clearly should not be in the retail business. We, women has the right to to shop a hardware store, right? Well, these store hates women, at least this is how they act every time I go shop there. They never lose the occasion to be rude and hurt with words, or action. Today I stopped by to buy some chlorine. We have an exchange of few words with Joe - "the manager", about a jug that was missing the top. Instead of being polite, and communicate as a normal person would, he was argumentative and rude. I asked why they hate women, because every time I go there, is a problem. The answer was: "Only those who want a free load". I was perplex, how he dare saying such a thing? I found that really insulting. On top, a very young man, tall and healthy, pushed the card with the 2 jugs outdoor (I even hold the door for him), and he left the card there for me to load in the car. I asked him then to pls put the jug in the car because I am unable. That's a curtesy I had before, and I am expecting as a senior citizen. It's nice to have a smaller "neighborhood" hardware store nearby, as opposed to having to visit a giant home improvement store elsewhere. They have a great selection here and the customer service is excellent too! Sure, the prices may be slightly higher here than those much larger big box stores, but shopping here is a breeze! I wanted some flashlight bulbs, and I found the ones I needed and took them to the register. The price rang up more than 2x what the shelf price said. I told the cashier the price was wrong and her response was that sometimes they change the prices in the computer but not on the shelf. I asked her to sell it to me for the shelf price but she explained that sometimes the stickers are wrong. I'm not sure how that absolves them but apparently it is a canned excuse there judging from some of the other yelp reviews. Rick, a store employee decided to get involved and I took him back to the bulbs and showed him where I got it, and where it said 'screw base' on the shelf price sticker, the only screw base bulb they had. He said I have to go by the SKU as sometimes things get moved, and then he found the SKU on a nearby shelf peg and showed me the price was twice what the 'wrong' SKU peg had. The new SKU had two other bulbs there, not screw type, and he moved those saying they were in the wrong place. So he insisted that I pay the double price for the bulbs. He said there were none of the screw type available (although he had them in his hand as I had tried to buy them). Jennifer, the owner or manager the n became involved, we went to the bulbs and I showed her where I got the bulbs and the price, she told me the stickers were wrong and stuff gets moved around. There were 4 staff at the front entrance and one other customer in the store. It was the start of the sales tax holiday that includes flashlights, so you would think they'd be checking that area to make sure the displays were full and in the proper place. Rick got huffy and told me to leave the store. I took a picture of the prices and then left. If I ran this store the staff wouldn't be chatting at the front counters, they would be tidying up the displays, and making sure things were where they belonged. None of my staff would be armed with excuses; rather than customer service. "Things get moved, " "Sometimes the price stickers are wrong." are excuses no merchant should be using. Rick wanted me to leave, and I don't want to return. I'm sure they'll not miss the couple hundred dollars I spend there a year, it is really fairly inconsequential in the overall scheme of things. Thankfully they aren't the only hardware store around, there is Hammock Hardware on Walsingham which has always been good, and the especially helpful Pinellas Central Ace Hardware on Seminole Blvd which has great knowledgeable and helpful staff. Go look at the yelp reviews of those places, you'll not see several one star reviews (one guy gave Pinellas Central Ace one star because they wouldn't let him in after they were closed- sometimes reviewers suck too.) I like to support small business, and I've learned which hardware stores in the Largo area deserve our support, and it isn't Ace on Oakhurst. read more

Yesterday I had purchased some plants and a few other items including glue sticks. I left my bag at the counter. I got home and realized that with loading my plants in the car what I had done. I immediately called and the person who answered the phone told me that they would put my bag away and put my name on it. Today when I went to pick up my purchase there was no bag with my name on it and apparently a sales person had taken my things out of the bag and sold the glue sticks. There were a few packages left of glue sticks yesterday but today there were none. I can't believe they sold merch that was paid for and was supposed to be put aside. You just lost a customer today. They are so nice here! I needed my propane tank replaced and had just dealt with UHaul on Seminole Blvd which he was so rude to me! Here at Ace Hardware they had just closed and opened their store back up for me to help me! I got my propane tank replaced super quick and was on my way! definelty will be back.
