Long Review, but read it for good information…read more Nice, small inexpensive, clean and quiet RV park. Hosts: Super nice and inviting/accommodating. There was a heavy rain the day we were booked and out site held water. He was out there with a sump pump when we arrived. They placed us in a temporary site and the next day the host mowed and blew pine needles from our site so it was ready for us. Bath House: clean with good pressure. Laundry: 1 washer ($1.50) 1 dryer ($1.00) Commercial Grade machines. Never had to wait to get our laundry done. Firewood: $5/bundle. Nearby: Short drive to Tomah (Starbucks for the wife), Fort McCoy, Sparta, Wilton (for the Sparta-Elroy bicycle trails). There is a small bar across the street/walking distance. Haven't tried it yet, but I will add when we do. Host recommended Smitty's for lunch or dinner. It was an excellent suggestion, with inexpensive meals and great service. Internet: Haven't tried theirs. Our Starlink Roaming worked great here in both sites we were in. Here are the cons: Water had a metallic taste/smell to it. If you don't like that, I recommend bringing extra bottled water. Mosquitoes are vicious here. Lots of standing water in the cranberry bogs and marshes, so they are abundant. Small sites, though plenty of room for me to put out my corn hole boards and play. Turns are tight. I recommend. Update 26 July for Cons: My neighbor learned a less than desirable lesson. Not all campsites have individual breakers. He left the campsite early in the morning to venture around, and the camper on the other side of him pulled out while he was on the town. Both sites were on the same breaker. When they unplugged from the site, they cut the breaker as they should. However, my neighbors power was cut as well. And he was gone all day. No pets involved, but that is another reason to have a pet monitor in your camper.

This place is clean and well-maintained. The Porta potty's nearest our tent camping site were…read moreliterally pristine even though it was rainy, and they had a nice little trashcan inside the Porta potty and outside of the Porta potty. It's the details! The land itself was gorgeous, the lady on the phone listened to the fact that I had six teenagers and put us at the spot right by the fishing hole where we had our own private beach for the river. The river the first day was up to our knees with a current that was manageable. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very cooperative with tubing ($11 a tube) which is what we wanted to do, but they also rented kayaks and canoes. The girl in the store was the family owner's teenage daughter and she was very sweet. At one point the four 14 year old boys took off on an Adventure down river, so I was in cell phone contact after hours with the owner of the campground trying to find out where they might pull aground when we spotted them coming in on an ATV from a local, friendly neighbor. They have a well-maintained volleyball court, gaga pit, badminton court with all the necessary equipment. They had covered picnic table area and a little camp store with cold pop and ice. They had cabins for rent at $149 a night which I looked into when there was a tornado watch. We were the only tent campers, (maybe other people had actually read the weather report), but it was a very quiet campground with only a crying baby early one morning from the many RV sites. None of us took a shower, but I did use the bathroom and peek into the showers and they were spotlessly clean like everything else. We also took a walk through their butterfly garden, so beautiful and peaceful. And for some reason not very many mosquitoes, not sure if they treat for them or we just got lucky but pretty much no bugs except for some flies when the teenagers didn't wash the dishes properly... it was about $150 for three nights of tent camping which included two sites and five packs of wood. A bargain! You won't regret it! Oh and my last bit involves cell phone reception: if you have T-Mobile you will get no service, if you have Verizon you will go from no service to 1 to 2 bars randomly, and if you have AT&T you will have full service the whole time.

We stayed during the week and it was very peaceful and quiet. There were a lot of of children for my three littles to play with. The swimming area is so pretty! It is pretty shallow so it was perfect for my 2 year old and 5year old to play. Our last day we decided to float the river and it was beautiful and an easy float. The owner was friendly as well. My only suggestions are to bring lighter fluid because the wood is a little damp and some type of fly repellant. Mosquitoes were not bad at all which was great! Overall we absolutely loved Lost Falls!

Well, we go on a camping/fishing trip every June but wanted to try out Wisconsin parks. I read some…read morereviews on other sites that mentioned a mosquito problem. I've been camping my entire life and have been to Alaska (where they consider the mosquito the state bird) and have never come across such a thriving population. we went through 6 bottles of deep woods off and hunters deet (50% to 98.5% Deet) and were still eaten alive! That was in the parking lot and the hike in camping areas. the fishing pier was nice and well kept. the area is beautiful. there is a bridge on the way in that goes over the water for a bout a mile and its just breathtaking. also a plus, the water is pretty windy so there werent a lot of mosquitos there. firewood on site is a good deal, especially since you cant bring it from most other places. my main problem is that there is a parking sticker requirement. this is for all wisconsin state parks. I booked the trip online and looked up and got out of state fishing licenses and all that. not once did i see anything that said i would have to buy a parking sticker. upon arriving to the park we were told that for our 5 day stay we could either pay for the year ($35) or buy daily passes for $10 each. its not that much if you know what you're signing up for. after driving for 5 hours, its quite a shock. It was very clean, roomy, had a/c which was a plus because we had some very hot days. It was very clean and neat and definently had a cozy cabin feel. The river is right and your back yard and great for fishing my husband caught some Northerns, a bass, and a catfish it was a great get away we had a blast. It was so peaceful out there I didn't want to leave! We enjoyed sitting in the back and listening to nature we saw a variety of fish, turtles, eagles, frogs, various birds. We enjoyed sitting around the bonfire, playing games, fishing, walking on nature trails, all the simple pleasures. It is a perfect getaway to spend with friends or family and enjoy nature and each other. My husband and I both came back with a different attitude, less stress, and it truly reminded us to slow down and enjoy the little things. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful get away. The owner is very nice and lives up the drive from cabin which you can not see from cabin (very private). The price is very affordable for what you get I could not reccomend this enough it was a wonderful and peaceful get away. I wish I owned it as it would make a great home away from home. If you want a clean, affordable, cabin this is the place. It does have bunk beds in one room but my husband and I slept on couch and pull out twin bed which were very comfortable too, we just didn't want to crawl up into the bunk :). The skeeters were bad at times, but other times none at all bug spray and some candles did the trick and they didn't bother us a bit. Great cabin thank you Nelson's!!!

That's a negative and a positive, but mostly a positive. Look. This motel has been serving people for over 70 years and it SHOWS. But I LOVE the vintage wood and the cool retro tile in the bathroom. I wish there was more of it tbh. The rate is decent for the area. $75 a night for two double beds and Owners seemed friendly on the phone. They have good check in procedure. They were accommodating on my late check in. The bad: Okay. I've been to a lot of these mom and pop roadside motels and I expect a little bit of grunginess. This one just crossed over my threshold of forgivable dirt and I think it just needs a good cleaning. See, most of the visible areas were clean. The beds were mostly clean, the floors were decent. Shower was clean as was the toilet. But the more hidden areas had a layer of old dirt that was simply beyond what I can forgive, even for a roadside motel. I've been to a lot of these old motels and while a lot of them are OLD, they usually take special care to clean them. This one...ehh. Not so much. A few of the towels were literally black and totally stained and need to be replaced. The wall in the bathroom needed a good wipe down. These are easy and inexpensive fixes. So all in all, not bad. Not great either. About average, hence my rating.

The shower/tub combo was of notable size... it could have easily fit 4 people standing, or 2 in the tub. The hotel itself is dog friendly. They offer continental breakfast on weekdays. There is this crazy hands free pancake making machine. It was like an easy bake over but from 2024. It was activated by motion - of course, I couldn't figure this out. Meanwhile there is a dispenser and conveyer belt inside, that is just plopping down mix and moving these pancakes through the cooking process. I realized my pancake was done so I put my plate at the end where it - BLOOPS - drops it. Then I realized my mistake. Pancake after pancake.... after pancake. They just kept coming down that belt and plopping on my plate. Luckily they were only 4" in diameter (max), so after what felt like 17 pancakes I scurried back to my room. Beagles love pancakes, so not a single one went to waste. There is no pool or hot tub. I asked and they looked at me like I lost my mind. They weren't too far from the truth. The only reason I was at this hotel was because my mother unexpectedly passed and I wanted to visit my grandparents. So my marbles were a little out of sorts. I also went outside and forgot my key. At 11:30pm.... that was also a tad embarrassing. The only real issue is that the on/off ramps to 94 are super close. If you are a light sleeper, you will be awake all night. If you have a dog reactive to loud noises/booms/thunder, not the best place to stay. Moved hotels for Fri/Sat because the cost for a Fri night was nearly double what I paid for week nights.
