A case in point: a small 2nd story residential deck in constant need of repair due to leaking. We have used waterproofing contractors, deck repair handymen, the odd roofer, none of whom were able to fix this problem. After years of cracked and sagging sheetrock, and buckets catching water every winter, we felt doomed to despair before we finally approached Elyas & Keez Construction. As we explained the long agonizing history of the leak issue, it was clear that Elyas was a thoughtful listener. He clearly laid out a plan, explaining in detail his approach. He was in constant communication with his ideas. Elyas has a multidimensional way of viewing a problem, I imagine due in no small part to his many years involved in biotech building, repair and facilities management. He was able to locate and isolate all the leaks, effecting a repair specific to each leak. This included windows and roof leaks as well as the deck. He found them all. The repair work, the sheetrock work, and the subsequent finish work & painting was flawless. We had an oversized wood sliding door that needed to be brought down to install an 8 foot vinyl door. Allen and Ryan did an excellent job on installing new sheet rock and texturing the walls. Allen also installed 2 octagon vinyl windows for us. We had 2 wood octagon windows that had a lot of rot and termite damage. Allen had to put in new framing and the windows fit like a glove. Once installed, Allen trimmed the windows with a beautiful oak wood frame to match our existing wood trim. On the outside he had to do some stuccowork on both the sliding door and the windows. Joe Nervis was able to come out to assess the property and provide a quote within my time constraints. His quote was reasonable and came in under the first bid. His team was able to start immediately and finished within a week. They did extensive prep work and repaired dry rot throughout. Before paint went up I requested 2 changes - to paint the brick on the facade so that it blends with the house and to go dark with the body color of the garage. They were able to accommodate both without any delay, and we are loving the results. Along with the deck replacement, I decided to replace my lawn with more drought tolerant landscaping. After interviewing me on how I use the garden, Lary provided a detailed proposal and requested input from me every step of the way, e.g. the grade of wood and brick to use. He suggested a beautiful ground cover plant that goes in place of some of the lawn. The resulting deck and landscape is beautiful and functional. Lary also is helpful in trying to send any demolished items for reuse rather than just dumping in the landfill.
