Unfortunately our car broke down halfway between LA and Vegas. Fortunately, the closest town was Yermo, where our car was towed and where the Travelodge was located. We were able to check in quickly. The room was a good size, quiet and clean. The vending machines are well-stocked and reasonably priced. The parking lot had plenty of spaces and was well-lit at night. The staff was very friendly and helpful. In particular, Steve, who was there that night, did everything he could to make our stay a good one. Steve went above and beyond the call of duty. THIS HOTEL IS NOW TRAVELODGE @ 35450 YERMO RD YERMO CA. 92398. I am not sure what I say here will ever be enough. We stayed in this hotel out of necessity. After surviving a devastating house fire on 12/18/22 we arrived just after midnight. 3 adults and 2 children (teens) and 2 dogs with only the shirts on our backs and a few articles of clothing the firemen were able to scoop up for us. Everything smelled of smoke, we were dirty, cold and tired. I truly don't remember who helped us that night but all we wanted to do was put our heads down on a pillow. From the moment we walked in it was all about us. We were put into 2 rooms, clean and quiet. I paid for one night not knowing how long we would be staying. The next day (later the same day) we began to figure out what we would do next. It became obvious that I would have to be there for a while. I paid for the room everyday hoping each day there would be a miracle. It was 7 days before Christmas, how the heck was I going to find a place to live? I believe it was our 3rd day there when there was a knock on the door. The dogs barked, we all jumped and I answered the door. I will never forget what I saw, 3 women (and a cute little girl) standing at the door holding a Xmas tree, 3 large shopping bags beautifully decorated just like the kind you find under the tree Christmas morning. One for my husband and I and one each for the kids. I was in tears! The bags were filled with pajamas and all the things we needed at the moment. And as if that were not enough I was handed a Gift Certificate for 5 Xmas dinners at Pennys Diner next door. I have never been met with such kindness from any hotel staff anywhere I have ever stayed in my 63 years. I was at the front desk alot during our stay and I watched as other guests checked in/out, or asked for things they needed. Never was there a harsh word or a raised voice from guest or employee. I never saw an upset guest. Through the miracle of Christmas we found a place and moved in on Christmas Eve. I swear, leaving was bittersweet. I felt like I was leaving family. If you are traveling from California to Vegas or Vegas to California and were planning to stop in Barstow for the night, Stop in Yermo and stay with these folks. You won't regret it! It's right off the freeway and there are 2 diners, a gas station and a Jack in the Box all within walking distance of this hotel. This business is now named Travelodge. Stayed here on my trip to Las Vegas. Less expensive than in Barstow proper. Refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron. Rooms looking toward the freeway side have double panel windows so the freeway noise is tolerable. Last motel between Yermo and Primm, NV. Friendly staff. Clean. Close to two restaurants and one fast food chain. I'd stay here again. There is an elevator, and a pool, but it being March, I did not check it out. Ample parking. Great value! We stayed here 1 night while driving to Death Valley, and we were satisfied. Our full size room was upgraded to one with a king size bed because they weren't completely booked that night. Parking was plentiful and free. Conveniently located very close to the highway. The room was pretty spacious and clean enough (I noticed someone else's hair in a corner of the bathroom, but that was my only complaint). Came with a mini-fridge and microwave. There was also free breakfast included - they give you a voucher to use at the diner next door, good for one of a choice of several breakfast items. It was cool because the diner's open 24/7, so you can have your free breakfast as early or as late as you want. read more

Had a reservation for one night with my son on the way to Los Angeles from Vegas. The stay was "just" a stop over before going to LAX the next morning. Was greeted by a receptionist with a nametag identifying her as a part of the Diner next door - Pennys Diner. Checkin was fairly easy, but a little smile from the receptionist would have made a good impression. No special info about hotel services were given during the check in. The hallway was smelling a bit too perfumey to me. We did not expext a superhigh class room, had seen the reviews on Yelp. Room was clean and pointing away from the freeway (Nice view). Beds a little on the hard side and refridgirator kompressor was not that silent. Toilet was running (was told the next morning, that we should have given it a little tap on the side - well we didn't know). You could hear the person on the next floor as "he" was turning in "his" bed. All in all not surprising and not less than what we expected - eventhough this review can Seem a bit harsh, we were ok with what we paid for. read more

Note: this business changed their name to Baymont Inn & Suites I booked a room through booking.com. Confirmation email and everything. It was booked under the name of Baymont Inn & Suites and not Oak Tree Inn. When I arrived I was informed that my room was given to someone else because their "computer" booked rooms under both business names. Okay, I can understand mistakes. Did I receive a call notifying me of their mistake? Was I offered a voucher for a different nights stay? Was I offered a meal at the restaurant on the property? I did get an apology, but really what good is that after driving all day and wanting a shower and a bed in a room you properly booked days in advance? Pretty disappointed. read more

Good quality hotel room, which included complimentary breakfast next door at Peggy Sue's Diner. CANNOT BEAT THIS VALUE!!!!!!!! Room was clean with ample towels for a family of four (we usually have to ask for extra towels.) For our trip, this place was the best price and a really good value. Breakfast at Peggy Sue's is spelled out in the slips you receive upon check-in, and it's quite nice to have a breakfast to-order instead of the standard continental buffet, which usually includes way to many starch items. Service at diner was very friendly and memorable. We found the hotel by chance (very lucky), as we were driving late at night and ready to find somewhere to spend the night. read more

Weekly/daily rates for PSCing Soldiers and families on the housing wait list. Driving speed limit (55 MPH) to Fort Irwin takes 45 minutes. NO PET FEE! Staff is friendly. No continental breakfast. They can make sure your room has a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker if you want all that stuff. Rooms are somewhat small, but it works for the price. If you ask, they also provide daily $2 diner vouchers for their Penny's Diner next door. The hotel and diner are jointly owned. The maid service is really slow, sometimes they don't even get to your room when you do actually want it done and are gone all day long. We only had full maid service once in a week because I didn't want to leave the room for it to be "cleaned up" everyday. When I needed to, I would ask the housekeeper down the hallway for extra towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, and also leave the trash in front of the door. I kind of wish we asked for a little discount since we we're NOT utilizing the housekeeping service everyday, but we didn't. I don't need my bed made up everyday. These days even four and five star hotels don't change your sheets daily, unless you specifically request it. There is such a thing as conservation of water. After being here a week already, my dog has been acting strange the last three days. Today we could smell that distinct smell of marijuana in the hallway. I think it's tripping my dog out a bit. She is afraid of everything more than she was before. She doesn't even want to come out of her crate to drink water, so we have to put it inside the crate. Poor girl. I'm taking her to my parents in law in a few days, so I think she'll be better off with a couple other dogs to play with. The best part is across the street is a nice big desert field, there is a FOR SALE sign, but no sign that states "private property", so I take our dog out there and let her run around free, while I walk along the dirt paths, she always stays within safe distance to me and stays along the path I take. The hotel's dog areas really suck. Also they don't have any trash cans outside. The dogs are only allowed on the rocks, not the grass (understandable since female dog pee kills grass). I don't walk my dog in the dog area because there is TOO MUCH DOG POO around there. I take her to the desert field. I can't believe the amount of people who don't pick up after their dog here or any hotels we've been to across the country. I pick up after my dog. It's part of my responsibility. It's like changing your kids diaper. The Diner is next door, open 24 hours. Serving size depends on the cook that night or day. Every cook has been different. Don't forget to ask for Diner coupons for hotel guests only, before you eat there. read more

Basic hotel expect this an old smell in the place. The A\C is old and doesn't work sometime. Don't be put on the first floor unless you like the sound of heavy feet noise. It is advertised fitness room but you have to be a railroad worker to get access. So they need to put that on the website. The staff is rude waited in the lobby for over 30 minutes to get help. Came in late last night the clerk name was Donna and she kept thinking it was funny that she could not find my reservation. She kept laughing about it and looked like she was on drugs. The rooms are out dated and not very clean. There is nothing about this place that I can say I enjoyed. I'm giving it two stars because they have a diner connected to the place that they give you a free meal ticket that was great. I will say the morning person Adam was very pleasant and helpful. We stayed here for a night on a road trip from Sedona, AZ to San Francisco, CA. This hotel seems to be less of a tourist stop and more of a short-term rest for long-haul truckers or railroad workers (there's a special computer room for them in the hotel) or a long-term stay for air force families. It is as close to the highway as you can get without being in the road, but is almost completely soundproofed for people who may need to sleep odd hours. This hotel REALLY wants you to be able to sleep. The drapes made the room pitch black, and the room was so soundproofed that you couldn't hear anything from the highway 20 feet away. The room comes with a white noise machine, too. The only noise I heard while we were there were the slightly stompy sounds of a person walking around above at 3am--no big deal. The room was clean, the mattresses seemed to be brand new. The shower was a little tricky to figure out, but once we did it worked fine. The sink was outside the bathroom, but that makes it a little more efficient for two people to get ready in the morning, right? The hotel has a little gym on the first floor and a pool outside. Yes, a little in-ground pool right next to the highway. The pool seems to be very well kept and you use your room key to buzz in to the gate. The room came with a $7 coupon per person for the diner next door. This was a great deal, as there isn't much else around and the diner is already affordable. We ended up getting dinner and the next morning's breakfast there. read more

Nice place to spend a few nights if you're in the area. My friends and I used this as a place to sleep for the weekend while we spent our days 4Wheeling in the surrounding desert. The rooms we had were all clean and well appointed and had to be among the quietest I've ever stayed in! Only negative was the restaurant next door. As part of our stay we received coupons for free Breakfast there and while we found the staff to be friendly the food was about the worst any of had ever eaten! To the point that on our second morning we passed on our free breakfast and opted to buy breakfast someplace else! read more

When we checked in there was no one at the front desk except a bell and a sign to ring it if no one was there. So I ring the bell and out comes a woman by the name of Olga who seems heavily annoyed I rang the bell. She didn't smile, introduce herself, during the entire check in process. She just rudely asks for my drivers license and then didn't even bother to verify the address so all the paperwork she made up has an old address and I wasn't going to correct her. She then hands me keys and tells me walk all the way to the right and the elevators are there. Well what's my room number Olga? The staff at the Diner next door was so much more pleasant! read more

We arrived at a little after 9pm, to no one at the front desk, except a bell and a sign that said to ring it if no one was there. I ring the bell and out from the back comes Olga, with a grim face like I have disturbed her. She does not greet us, she does not ask how our 7 hours drive we just made was, she just rudely asks for my CC and ID. She does "something" in the computer and then hands me keys and tells me to go to the elevators to the right, but doesn't even tell me a room number! The room smelled odd, but for $65/night, in the middle of nowhere it's what you would expect. Stayed here in early May of 2012. This place is nice. Its about 8 minutes north of Barstow and we got more for our money than we would have if we stayed somewhere else. The weekend rate for a room with two beds couldn't be beat. For that price you get free wifi, two beds, fridge, microwave and all the other extras in a room that you expect from higher priced place. Is it perfect? Well, we just stayed one night and my only real complaint was the front door to the lobby is hard to open with two hands full of bags, and there were some potato chip crumbs in the stairwell. Other than that, it was a nice clean place that was perfect for why we were in Yermo. read more

Good: It was clean, the room had a microwave and a refrigerator, wifi was good, there is a pool and a fitness room. The staff were friendly. A voucher was provided for breakfast at "Penny's" next door. Bad: Although I booked for myself and my wife about a month in advance it appeared the only room available was one with a double bed, not what we are used to. I realize this is subjective but we found the bed uncomfortable and the pillows worse, we didn't sleep well and my wife woke with a sore back and I with a sore neck. We asked for a different room which was provided but we couldn't get it until later in the day, not unreasonable. When we did get the key for the room we entered to find someone in the shower! Back to the desk. The young man gave us a key to another room, it too was occupied! Finally we moved into a friends room as they had decided to go home early, we just told the guy we were now in our friends old room, problem solved but we had to solve it ourselves. The hotel isn't bad and the staff are friendly but perhaps a little more training wouldn't hurt. Finally, I don't think smokers should be allowed to hang around the front door, maybe a designated smoking area? read more

Do not stay here!!!!! Do yourself a favor a drive a few miles and stay in Barstow. We thought it would be a good idea, since we were visiting Calico and it was awful. I booked two rooms, both double rooms. Both reservations had been confirmed. When we got there, it was only a king and they did not want to help fix it or offer any type of solution. So 4 people with one bed. The second room looked so dirty and smelled so bad of smoke. Actually the whole inside of this motel looks really dirty. The hotel staff are not helpful or friendly. I would avoid this place. Honestly, drive to Barstow. You will be glad you did. read more

Boyfriend and I stayed here on a Saturday night. Staff was friendly. Room was a good size Bed and pillows were COMFORTABLE (I don't know where this "cement pillow" comment is coming from in other reviews). We checked in around noon, which I believe is earlier than "check in" but there was no fuss from the staff. Room was on the first floor, very clean and well maintained. Air conditioning worked great. I woke up freezing in the middle of the night because we put it on so high. Got a free breakfast at the diner next door, which is open 24/7 so use whenever you like. Much better breakfast than any other hotel has to offer. Diner food was great, staff there was friendly. Literally no complaints. Ice machine was even awesome. There was a pool onsite that we didn't use. If you're looking for some outrageously fancy hotel then get the hell out of Yermo. Last thing to add, we reserved a room online and it came out to $109 maybe? And it was cheaper to get it at the actual hotel, which was about $99. Maybe you can reserve it but pay when you get there to save a couple bucks. No idea if that's even an option but something I recommend you look into. read more

We stayed here the night before attending a wedding at Calico Ghost Town. It is very close to both the freeway and the ghost town. I was worried that it would be very run down because of the small town it is in, but it was a nice hotel. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. The A/C definitely worked well, which is something to be thankful for in 107 degree heat. Our room did smell like smoke even though it was a non-smoking room. We stayed in 3 hotels in California within a week. All of them cheap motel style accommodation, and Oak Tree Inn Yermo was by far the best. It had the cheapest rate, best room and facilities (fitness centre, pool) and by far the best free breakfast - you get a voucher for Penny's diner next door. I'd definitely recommend this as a place to stay if you're on a stopover (we were going from San Fran to the Grand Canyon) as it's out of Barstow so you get much better value for your money and it's a lot quieter. read more

My wife, daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights while we visited the Calico Ghost Town at Halloween. We loved this Inn! The room was very comfortable and we slept great. The free breakfast next door was also very good and the people working there were exceptionally nice.
