    Disgusting roach
    Bernadette R.

I booked a room here in June. Hotel is under renovations, but I figured that's ok, because hey...it's a Hilton Hotel and I've never had a bad experience, so what could go wrong? I checked in. Front desk was friendly. I walk into my room, and immediately noticed something was wrong. First of all, it looked like a 10 year old made both beds. Linens were wrinkled, appeared to be slept on. I walk into bathrooms, towels looked like they were folded by same 10 year old, and haphazardly placed on the shelf. I had been training at Fort Irwin, and it was hot as balls out there and I was dirty and exhausted. I decided to proceed with my usual check for bedbugs. As soon as I turned on the lamp, there was a couple of roaches. That's it. I had enough. I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs to demand a refund. The front desk girl told me "it's the desert, you have to expect to see bugs." NOPE. NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT! I was given a refund and went to Home2Suites down the street. Literally DOUBLE the amount that I paid at the Hampton, but it was squeaky clean. So disappointed in the loss of having to shell out extra $ and the disgusting Hampton Inn.

Booked one night stay so my husband can do his shopping in peace at the Barstow Outlets which shares the back side with the hotel. They are remodeling right now so it doesn't look eye pleasing when you drive up to the property but the inside so far looks welcoming, relaxing, new, updated and so on. Breakfast was great, just wish their bowls for cereal and oatmeal were bigger (mini size). Beds were comfortable, rooms spacious, bathrooms spacious, you have mini frig, microwave, coffee/tea maker, cell phone/clock charger combo (wow), and accessible power charger ports which I've found quite a challenge finding and reaching for. I would come back and recommend Hampton Inn to my family and friends for our future travel stays .

What an excellent hotel. Stayed overnight on our trip to Sin City. Good clean rooms, quiet and nice reception and staff. I highly recommend this place

Several paw prints on fitted sheet and comforter that appear to be from small dog

Overall, the room was nice. The location is next to a shopping mall and many nearby fast food restaurants. The free hot breakfast was good as usual for this hotel. The main bummer was that one of beds had dirty paw prints on comforter and fitted sheet. They offered a new room but it was so late and kids were falling asleep so we stayed in room. Night staff was pleasant enough but only one person so we simply asked for new sheets and comforter without cover to change.

The Hampton in Barstow was lovely. Easy parking & easy to get to. It was very clean & cool. The breakfast Buffett was filling. Definitely a good place to stay on your road trip. I would stay here again for sure.

Honestly, most Hampton Inn's are underrated. Even for Barstow, California, there are the positives: 1) mini-fridge, coffee maker and microwave in the room. 2) multiple TV channels! 3) coffee in the lobby at all hours of the day and night! Big positive. 4) decent sized room and it's located at a quite corner of Barstow even though the freeway is right around the corner. 5) friendly and helpful staff. 6) breakfast! You don't have a full menu but it's better then running to the gas station or fast food. 7) decent sized room. Minor negatives: 1) mediocre wifi 2) no in-room safe. This should be standard. 3) if this place gets packed, people will be scrambling for parking. It honestly doesn't look like they even have one parking space per room!

This is a gem in the desert. The room was clean and cool. After traveling thru 110+ temps all day the air conditioning was very relaxing. Bathroom was nice & clean. The bed was comfortable & big. Everyone was friendly. The complimentary breakfast was more generous than most - and yummy. Impressive. 8/2/18 - still a great place to stay in Barstow. This time they had all these really great affirmations at breakfast. What a great way to start the day. 7/25/19 Another road trip. Another stay in Barstow. Small room. No upgrade this time. The bathroom wasn't totally clean - someone else's hair left in the shower. A total pet peeve of mine. Reduced the stars this time.

I wasn't sure what to expect because I have never stayed in Barstow; it has been more of a pit stop to or from Las Vegas.

The first time, 2 months ago, the hotel staff were extremely helpful. I would have given them a 5-star review. They allowed me to pay for the room over the phone by credit card and let her check in with her pet even though she has a different last name than me. The process was smooth as can be. She checked in early, around 11 or 12 am and was able to rest immediately. The room was huge, clean, the staff were friendly and accommodating and late check out was no problem at all. The room was very price friendly. Because of this experience, I joined the loyalty program and have stayed at several in other cities (not as nice as this one). THIS TIME, my daughter had the same medical need to rest and because of the original experience I immediately chose the same hotel. It was the complete opposite experience with the staff. The front desk would not allow her to check in early. He would not allow her to wait for the fist room available by sitting at the pool. He would not allow her to sit in the lobby. He harassed her every step of the way while she was going through a medical emergency. She was crying and he did not care and proceeded to tell her she had to leave. We called repeatedly asking if we could pay extra for early check in and asked can she sit outside by the pool until a room came available. No. He gave us so much trouble about paying over the phone. Made us jump through so many hoops with credit card authorization forms over email and then nit-picked every check box on the form causing more stress and emails and phone calls. After 3.5 hours, she was able to get into a room around 1pm. Our family travels 247 and because of the original experience, they had me as a customer for life which is hard to get out of me. After this last experience, I am considering spending my money elsewhere. All that stress in an already stressful medical situation was unacceptable. We did not get the clerks name but my receipt says "checked in by 'gm'" at 11:26 am, on 3/12/26. That is not the time she got a room.
