We moved here from out of town and after searching around we found Oak Park. They keep the kiddos involved, have weekly activities, and have a swimming pool on site we thought was super cool. My son loved his time here! So much so that my other son wanted to come here after hearing what all his brother was doing and learning. The front desk/staff always answered any questions or concerns I had. The director Mandy is a pleasure to deal with in my opinion. She is straight to the point. My son was here for daycare leading up to pre-k and we loved: Ms. Carena, Ms. Brenna, Ms. Cameron, and Ms. Abby (Their cook was excellent as well her name is escaping me at the moment). They took such good care of him I felt like I was leaving him with family. My older son went for after-school care and loved it. They are also affordable compared to the surrounding schools and they have a lot to offer. read more

I moved from California and had no idea what to expect but this was such a great choice! All of the staff is very friendly, I've never had a rude encounter with anyone. Mandy is so sweet and helpful. Our children have been at this school for years. It's a little dated on the interior but the committed teachers and office staff make up for it. All the boxes are checked They have fun activities for the kids (even a pool in the summer with lessons available), reasonable pricing, and convenient services for parents. Went there on Friday and toured the facility and it was pretty loud and many kids were rambunctious but I thought that it was hectic because it was their summer session. It was definitely chaotic and the rooms were really messy and the children were pretty wild. But I tried to take all that in with the thought that it's not always like that because that was with the lady kept saying that was taking us around for the tour. I did notice the mosquitoes were kind of bad outside and in the foyer and we left with a few mosquito bites. I signed her up and I thought I would give it a try . So on Monday my daughter comes home and she's pretty flustered and says that boys poured water on her head and had been kicking her seat on the bus ride home at the end Of the day. SHe asked them to stop and they would not. No adults took notice of this happening on the bus. I think there are so many children that they don't have good control of when children misbehave. So I spoke to the office and they assured me they would talk to the boys and talk to the boys' parents and that that kind of behavior was not allowed. My daughter was hesitant to go back on Tuesday but she went and then today Wednesday she comes home saying she doesn't want to return because two boys were horsing around and then one of the boy started punching the other boy. My daughter was really freaked out about it and was concerned that that boy may try to punch her. So again I called and spoke to Miss Kim in the office over the phone and she said she would look into it and after talking to her staff they claimed that the boys were horsing around. My daughter is a fourth grader and she knows the difference between horsing around and being aggressive and she is confident that they'll we're not playing. Another thing that Miss Kim said to me that I found alarming was that she stated,"well it takes time for kids to adjust. "!So to me it sounds like she thinks that my daughter has to LEARN to adjust to the violence that they are accustomed to at this daycare center. BULLYING should not be tolerated!!!! I also read another parent's review from last year that claims the same thing happened to them and now that I'm experiencing it as well I have to say I don't agree with what they allow as far as aggressive child behavior. I also noticed every time I dropped my daughter off or picked her up I got a mosquito bite. After three days and paying the deposit and bringing in school supplies, I am out all that money ---/so word of warning, if you don't want your child exposed to a lot of violence you may want to look elsewhere for childcare because they claim that that kind of behavior is just horsing around and that's just what kids do. And I disagree. I also noticed that it took them until 430 for my child to come back from school when they get out at 3:15. So all the activities they tell your child is going to do; they don't necessarily do because they spend so much time on the bus and then they have them outside eating snack and by the time they get inside the day is pretty much done. No time for homework; no time for the games they have in the other rooms ; yet it's so impressive on the tour but my child didn't get to do any of those things. I was really hoping to like this place because it's very convenient. I liked a lot of the staff I met but I just don't agree with their lack of dealing with bad behavior and I don't think they were forthright about how much time the kids would be stuck on a bus after school due to traffic and going back-and-forth to schools etc. I'll know next time if I ever use a daycare again to always ask how much time will the children be on the bus. The director and owner have been a part of this school for a very long time and care about the kids as if they were their own. Both my kids have attended Oak Park. My son is now in college who still has great memories of Oak Park. My daughter is a current student and loves it. The kids are friendly, the teachers are world class and there is never a dull moment. So many well planned activities, outdoor play, swimming, dance lessons, karate lessons, etc. They all really connect with the kids and the parents. I'm comfortable talking about any issues that may arise. Good people who are good at what they do! read more

The worst daycare in Garland and that is saying a lot. Dirty rooms. Kids are always sick. Teachers are not certified and some have no interest in being there. The children don't learn a thing, they just let them play. Their is not enough security and anyone can walk in the front door. The teachers do not watch the children when they play either. ThIs daycare is great as long as you don't bring up any concerns about your child to them. If you do have a concern about the way the teacher treats your child they will not work with you to find a solution. Instead Ms. Stacy will make excuses as to why the teacher was justified in treating your child the way she did. She even had an excuse for why it was okay for this teacher to not allow my child to sleep with a pillow at naptime like all the other children. When I talked to her about my concerns and that I didn't feel comfortable leaving my child there with this particular teacher they told me they would not change his teacher. I was pretty surprised at their response considering I have my choice of day cares to put my child in and I pay good money for my child to attend. I also agree with the other review regarding poor communication. We were also brand-new to day care and I was always confused about what I was supposed to do and where I was supposed to take my child. There is a severe lack of communication and in my opinion a lack of compassion for children among some of the teachers. read more

I really can't say enough good things about Oak Park. My two girls have been going here for two years now and this is by far the best daycare I have ever used. Everyone from the owner down is kind, friendly, and very obviously passionate about what they do. They have virtually no staff turnover, and the teachers are so wonderful. The school itself is kept up immaculately, and it is a gorgeous facility with large classrooms, a computer room, a theatre/auditorium room, a gymnasium and this incredible area for the oldest afterschoolers that is like a diner/hangout space. And the play areas are HUGE and they are all these elaborate wooden play structures that are all shaded by large trees which makes me feels good when they are playing outside in the hot months. They also have a splash pad and pools for the Summer. They use a strong curriculum and integrate it well with activities and free play, and again I just can't say it enough, this school is the best! They treat every child like family, and they communicate wonderfully with the parents and no matter what time I have dropped in I have never seen anything to give me pause. They are always attentive and caring and treating the children with concern and respect. read more

We were looking around for a daycare for my 2 year old. We stopped at Oak Park to get some information and the front office people were very rude. She ask if my child was potty train and I answer no and she made a face and got an attitude afterwards. I have worked at this daycare for about four years now and also attended as a child! Oak park has the most caring staff members and loving parents. I currently work with the oldest group in the after school program and have the most amazing group of kids! In afterschoolers our days start at about 4 when all of the busses get back and the kids have played outside for about 20 minutes and then we go inside, where the parents can sign up their kids for homework room or the kids can choose to go in there until they finish their homework, the kids get into their groups and are given the choice of doing the activity for the week or playing with the things that are available in each room, such as air hockey, video games, computer, centers, etc. and then we go outside for thirty minutes then go inside to the auditorium to watch a movie until their parents arrive! The owner, Renee, and director, Becky, are two of the most caring people who just genuinely love kids and have a love for this industry. Oak park also does not have the mind set where we just let the kids be rambunctious and we also have a no bullying policy for afterschoolers and are constantly talking to parents if these things occur so get to the bottom of every situation because we want every child to feel loved and safe at this daycare! I wouldn't recommend any other daycare for your child! read more

I give it a 1 star on appearance. The playground is what made me bring my kids to this school. The playground is beautiful. They have a library, theater room, computers, and the facility is kept clean and organized. However my experience with the staff and owner there was horrific. My daughter and son went to this school for the year 2014/2015. My son would come home numerous times with big bumps on his forehead and bite marks on his arms. Where were the teachers when this was happening? The owner kicked us out in the most horrific way possible. 2 days before pre-k started. She called me on a Saturday to tell me that she has me on camera stealing from a teacher´s purse. I was in shocked when she told me this. I asked to see the video she said no. However when you sign your child up at the daycare they tell you, you can see the videos anytime you want. LIE! I then asked her how much money was missing. She said $10. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! $10!? What am I suppose to do with $10? My husband called the owner back and threatened to her that we will hire an attorney and she admitted to him that they don't see me actually steal the money. They just see me go into the closet room. The closet room where all the kids, incluiding my daughter, would hang up her jacket and back pack. I thought to myself what teacher would put her purse in a high tearful area where kids and parents go in to that room all day long. That´s how I know she was lying. If the owner lies, cheats, and defams-that should tell you a lot about the school. I believe this was done to me because I complained about my sons bumps and bite marks, and his teacher. The teachers and owner lie, do not watch or care for your kids, and I walked in on one of the teachers tell another teacher that she thoughts the kids were disgusting. read more

I would like to say that this will be the fourth year (2015) that I enroll my kids at Oak Park. It is a great school. They kept my kids busy while they attended PreK and they keep them busy with good activities all summer. I have never had any problems with the teachers or the directors not listening to any concerns. I would say over 95% of the teachers I met four years ago are still there. Which shows consistency and them getting to know all the children very well year after year. It is a great place! read more
