Flamingo School Is a local family run preschool, since 2012. Owner is a medical staff and she is there teaching children as well, I feeling safe to put my daughter there. I found this school has been rated best school in Dallas and Richardson for times. My daughter enjoyed learning and playing there, so I'm able to go to my job and don't feel any hassle. Teachers are so amazing with kids, my daughter loved the school. One thing I hear from owner, this school building is Richardson City assigned as tornado shelter. This is so amazing to me, I can't find any other school have this quality building, as I said I feel safe to have my daughter in Flamingo School, for many reasons. I'm very thankful that my friend introduced me Flamingo School for my daughter. We all loved Flamingo School, I'm strong recommend Flamingo School for all parents. We loved Flamingo! I highly recommend this place to parents in the Richardson area. The teachers in the Bunny class were so incredibly loving to my 18 mo twins and my kids were excited to go to school every day. The staff was great with communicating to us about how much our kids ate and how their day went. ALL the teachers seemed to know my twins well and Ms. Kay/Mr. George even knew when morning drop offs weren't going well. I also loved how they would send photos of the children throughout their day to rest my mind at ease that my kids were enjoying their day. We have two sons. My 6-year-old attended Flamingo for 5 years. My 3-year-old has been at Flamingo since he turned 1. We would not take our children any place else for their preschool education. We feel that we hit the jackpot! My now 6-year-old is in Kinder and his teacher and friends rave about how smart he is and that we credit to Flamingo and their wonderful teachers. My 6-year old asked me how much Flamingo costs because he wants to make sure that when he has children that his kids can go to Flamingo. And every time we pick up/drop off our 3-year-old, the 6-year-old mentions how much he misses his school. If you're looking for a school with diversity, a low turnover rate, and teachers who pour love into your child and teach your children to love to learn, I wouldn't walk, I would run to Flamingo. read more

Flamingo's unprofessional behavior and utter lack of proper parental communication is astonishing! They proffer teamwork with the parents. The administration and teachers don't know what that word means. Flamingo has been sending home written reports and text messages since my child enrolled that she's doing great and so happy at school. Not a single thing to negative thing. All of a sudden two weeks ago on March 10th Flamingo texts a huge list of behavioral items that need work. You read that right TEXTS!!!! First of all a text message has no context, no tone of voice, and certainly no body language. Contacting me via that mode of communication about important issues that need work is UTTER NONSENSE!! My husband and I set up an appointment so that we could go over everything two weeks later. When we finally get to meet with the teacher she sits there on her high horse treating my husband and I like we're morons. Her uppity and snide demeanor was astonishing. The conversation was extremely one-sided with the teacher dictating the terms on how we were to fix the issues. She had the gaul to ask after every corrective suggestion "Does that work for you?" My kiddo was apparently the leader in the class so according to the school she was influencing the other kids. You mean you let a 2.5 year old take control of the class!!! Their excuse "monkey see monkey do"...uh huh I think I know who the monkey is and it wasn't my child. They let us know that my child wasn't napping. She was screaming and being disruptive to the class so they put her in the ones class to "nap". Then they suggested moving her bedtime to 9-9:30pm. WOW just so that she can nap you want me to move her 7:30 bedtime back almost two hours...yeah NO!! What an absurd suggestion. Isn't it in the realm of possibility that she's dropping her nap?! They tried to convince us that they didn't have a single child who wasn't napping. My child has been in and out of school this year due to multiple illnesses, the snow storm and construction on the school. We tried to highlight this to the school. They completely ignored this point. At the end of the meeting they told us we had two weeks to fix the issues otherwise they would drop my kid down to part-time. The next day we emailed to ask to speak to an administrator. They responded by saying her last day was Friday the 26th. Word of warning to all potential parents if your child doesn't fall into their perfect cookie cutter expectations then you're out. read more

Flamingo Island kicked my daughter out of their school before we even started for calling and asking for information regarding a dress code we were not made privy to. We had three meetings with them regarding enrollment, and not once was a dress code mentioned. After paying an enrollment fee, we received an email regarding uniforms. I called to ask about whether or not we needed to order them and explained that we had not been informed prior and that I was seeking clarification. The administrator became incredibly defensive and threatened to refund our money 4 times on the phone while I talked him down and attempted to explain that I was not upset, nor looking for a refund. I explained that uniforms weren't an issue for us, I was just shocked by the revelation of information (and that I'd been in the school 3 times and never seen uniforms). When we got off the phone, he immediately returned our enrollment fee. They later called and made up a story about her spot being no longer available due to capacity (for liability purposes, surely). It is unfortunate that my husband and I spent so much time arranging for this transition and they pulled the rug out so quickly and without warrant. Their mishandling of this situation makes me wonder how situations of real magnitude are conducted. I am baffled how nothing became something with just a minor inquiry. If you are a parent who has questions or wants to be informed about your child's school, this is not the place for you. These people are responsible for teaching youth inclusiveness and problem resolution? Now that's scary. read more

It's a cute school but obviously they have a "type". I called multiple times and the front desk guy's phone demeanor was less than inviting but against my better judgment I decided to book an appointment to tour the school anyway. I booked thru the online booking system that sent me an appointment within 24 hours. After arriving, the same 6+ foot man who was rude over the phone greeted me at the door. He had me to fill out paperwork and took a copy of my id just to tell me the class was full and to come back in December of 2018. I explained that I would like a tour so that I could determine if I would like to be placed on a waiting list or not. He basically refused the tour and I left. A complete waste of my time. I won't be back and I will make sure I tell everyone I know of the experience I had at Flamingo Island Preschool. Needless to say I won't be back in 2018 or ever. read more

We love this school! I love how it is more of a school vs a day care. They don't have "big kids" there in the morning or after school. They throw EPIC parties and encourage parents and family member to attend. They have pizza on Fridays which is the bomb! Wish I was there to eat pizza every Friday! My 4yr old daughter LOVES going to school here! She is learning so much and although she is the youngest in her class I have no fears of her starting kinder next year at only 5 because she is learning so much! She is learning the states and the capitals!! At 4!!! This school is truly amazing! My daughter is a terribly picky eater and her teachers are working with her on this but they don't pressure or shame her about it! They are kind and compassionate! We love Ms. Amber! This is my kid's first day care at age of 13 months, We are very worried as every parent but when i visited Flamingo i got the positive vibe and joined him here without much digging. My instinct didn't go wrong, They are wonderful in every aspect you can think of. They are caring, loving and everyone know every kids name. My kid loves going there. I have to take out my kid due to change in job, I have nearly visited almost 20 day cares and none of them matched with this one. Keep the positive vibes going! read more

This is my first review but after reading the food allergy warning below, I felt compelled to comment. Flamingo island could not be more committed to children suffering from food allergies. My child suffered from a debilitating disease that made him allergic to almost every single food, and Mrs. K and her staff could not have been more accommodating. To say they went "above and beyond" would be an understatement. They provided my child with a "special" table that was just his and made a big deal about his "special" food to make him feel important and not like an outcast. They've been not only accommodating, but instrumental to his his health and well being as the level of care and compassion they've shown my son has been unparalleled. Not only that, but he has improved significantly in his education since the daycare he was in previously. He came home singing ZYX instead of ABC at three! The campus is clean, SO cute and fun, welcoming and warm. They have fantastic events involving friends and family. I feel so lucky that we found FI when we moved to richardson. It really is a gem. Beware if your child has any peanut or nut allergy if you are thinking about this place. My son has been to daycares in the past and I inform the staff he has an allergy to nuts/peanuts and the staff are ALWAYS helpful and make sure my son is always safe while there. I am looking for a daycare facility and see that this place has great reviews. I speak with the person answering the phone that my son has a peanut/nut allergy and how they handle children with allergies. This lady stated "Well this might not be the right daycare for you" when I asked why that was, she said well we are a peanut free daycare but some parents sneak in peanut butter sandwiches so we can't guarantee there isn't any cross-contamination. WOW. I have never been denied child services because my son has a medical condition. read more

Thank you Flamingo for making our experience so wonderful. My daughter attended Flamingo for 11 months. from 14 months to 2 years and it was such a good experience! I'll list some of the things that I found important: 1) Key pad on the front door for secure entrance - 7am to 6pm. 2) Admin desk in the front where someone was 99% of the time there to say Good Morning and Good Night! - Such a welcoming group of teachers! 3) Smaller class/teacher ratio: 1/7 I believe and all the teachers knew me and my daughter by name! And she loved every single one of them! 4) Clean, fun, slightly structured environment where the focus was on exploring, playing, learning and friends. 5) Great outdoor play area with plenty of things to do and supervisors! 6) Safety! - a) every child washes their hands as soon as they enter the classroom! Love this! - My daughter even does this at home- its a great habit! Teachers where gloves for anything food or health related! No smells, its all cleaned regularly and each child learns how to clean up after themselves and use the trash can! b) sunscreen and bug spray used regularly - send your own for them to use! 7) Communication - daily follow up with day trackers, teachers ask questions and make sure they know whats going on every morning with attitudes, food, needs, etc. We talked about which words we used so that we were all on the same page and they let me know what we needed to work on at home! 8) Activities: my daughter loved outdoor play, music time, painting and getting to visit other classrooms if the situation was right. They had a visit from a firetruck, a petting zoo stopped by and sometimes in the summer they got to have water days. 9) You provide lunch, they provide breakfast and two snacks. We forgot her lunch one day and they ran out and got something for her for a small charge. 10) She took her own water bottle, nap map/blankie and sometimes took in a toy for show n tell if it made her feel good to take something in once in a while. 11) Nap times were everyday at the same time but sometimes she wouldn't sleep. They wouldn't force her to stay on her nap mat if they knew she wasn't go to sleep. She would get one-on-one time with a teacher or administrator while the other kids slept. I love this part - they really made her feel special. Most days she would nap without any issues. 12) Make sure you follow the calendar for days off: they schedule at least two admin days a year and you will need to find alternate care. 13) The classrooms are well maintained and my daughter was transitioned from the "under 2" class into the "2's" and up room with Ms. Monica. The transition went very well and I'm so grateful that they worked so hard to ensure the smooth transition. 14) Potty Training! All teachers in her classroom made such an effort to help us with potty training and I couldn't have done it without them!!! 15) The Staff - we have some favorites come and go but Ms Tamiko, Ms Monica, Ms Amber, Ms Siobhan, Ms Ashley and Ms Kayla are all exceptional. My daughter loved them and would run into their arms every day. It was a great feeling knowing that she felt so comfortable with them. Every morning she would run to great Ms. Susan! And Ms K, the director is a registered nurse so I knew that everything would be managed with care. I can't say enough about them all. I cannot say enough good things about Flamingo Island. My daughter has been enrolled there for about 19 months (since she was 2.5 yrs old) and the progress she's made has been incredible.The owners and teachers are fantastic people who obviously care about the kids and enjoy what they do. They TEACH these children in a happy, nurturing environment. They keep the place clean and tidy and I honestly feel my daughter is as safe there as she would be with our own families. I hardly write reviews on yelp. But I am making an exception for Flamingo Island PreSchool. This is a wonderful preschool for you precious little ones. Our family was with Flamingo for 1 year 4 months. Being a first time mom leaving my son at a full time daycare was a very tough decision. But at Flamingo they are exceptionally well-qualified and genuinely interested in children and early education. From day 1 Miss Kay put our fears at ease and hand held us through his entire transition. From handling my son's initial drop off tears, teaching him to how feed himself, encouraging his communication & social interaction skills, outdoor activity,arts, mathematics and science they score 10/10. Flamingo has built a very solid foundation for his life. It is not a day care center but an early education preschool where a child's over all personality development happens. Unfortunately we had to leave this preschool, as we changed our house to a far off place. Otherwise we would have loved to continue here. Our family truly misses Flamingo school, Miss Kay, Miss Presley, Miss Argem, Miss Gabby & Mr George. My son Tyler is now in the 5 year old classroom and we have been there for a little over a year. It is amazing the improvements we have seen in a year. One day he saw a picture of the continents and he named them at the age of 3.5. At his older school he was shy and quiet but at Flamingos he has opened up and made some great friends. He loves his teachers that he has had and so have we. They gave us daily updates on what he was learning, gave us "hmwk" to practice with him on the weekends and made learning fun. Please read all the other one star reviews. It's a telltale sign of how this place will treat you and your child. They have a common theme, Discrimination. Whether it's race or a disability, it's clear they are intolerant. When I told Ms.Kay where my daughter was currently going, she said oh the Muslim daycare and sounded utterly disgusted. From there the conversations continued to go downhill. They make it very clear that you need to come as a family, well my husband and I have different schedules, it's pretty difficult for us to show up at the time flamingo specifically requests. How do single parents do it? Or maybe they don't allow single parents? I went from being very excited to send my daughter to flamingo to having feelings of complete bewilderment. I have read several reviews of how conversations quickly escalated and turned quickly into resentment. A lot of these people's kids never even stepped foot into the front door. We should count ourselves lucky. It's scary how bipolar these people are. I actually don't think there is a waitlist and that they only care about the money walking into the door. I keep asking myself, what kind of parent sends there kid to a $1500 daycare where no one is a true educator? Desperate parents. That's all I can equate. I can't help but feel very sorry for the parents who are send their kids there with these ticking time bombs, I'm sure if your a dismissive parent, your child can float by, under the radar at flamingo. If you plan to go here, don't miss appointments, don have a disability, don't have an ethnic last name, and most importantly, don't question them. This is a dictatorship daycare and unless you're a sheep who likes everyone the same it's probably not best suited for you. Something worth mentioning is also a review from a previous worker on Indeed that I really think you should look into. It's down right, disturbing. Also as one parent mentioned, they do have violations with the state. That's always a red flag. I always take yelp with a grain of salt too but some of the one star reviews are really messed up. There numerous other cases of discrimination, and the thing is, they are private, so they can do that. I would never want my daughter to go there and experience the hate these people have. I don't know why they are that way. They definitely ruined my day and made me feel very low, but I have to remind myself that I'm not the only one they have treated poorly and that we really dodged a bullet. read more

We love Flamingo Island Preschool! Our soon to be 3yr old daughter has been attending FIP since last March and she loves going every day. The entire staff is caring, patient, and very active with all the children - this includes the directors and office manager. The kids stay engaged and happy about school as the teachers are constantly planning different activities including gardening, painting, cooking, singing, dancing, and much more. The activities are not only true for the students, but also for the parents as FIP has several events throughout the year for all families to participate in. We had the fortune to have Flamingo Island as the PERFECT preschool setting for two years. This is my DD's last week and honestly feel it hurts me more having to leave them. Without hesitation I can state Flamingo is the best place in the area to care for preschoolers of course, if the main intention is for children to be cared, respected, instructed academically and most importantly nurtured in a loving environment. We speak based on personal experience however just an example: this weekend celebrated her birthday and majority of the guests were from Flamingo Island and doing a recollection most of the children started before, or same time as my DD which is a great feeling as these healthy and happy kids will be my DD's first friendship memories. We have enjoyed everyday my DD has been at Flamingo and she's not only leaving ready intellectually and socially for Kinder Garden, but with the best experience a child can have at a preschool stage. I am the type the parent that researches, asks questions, plans, and critically thinks through all decisions when it comes to the health, safety, and well-being of our only child. I researched all highly rated schools preschools, montessory schools, day cares, Mother's Day Out programs, and in-home care, regardless of cost, within a 15 mile radius of our home. I charted the ones that passed qualifying factors then visited and interviewed the contenders over a 6 month span. Flamingo Island was the last spot to check out on my list only because it was the farthest from our home. We unknowingly saved the best for last :) Of all the many facilities researched, Flamingo Island is by far the best choice for our child and us. There were lots of factors we considered (curriculum, safety, cleanliness, location, etc) but the biggest concern for us is whether the administration actually puts the children's interests before their own and Flamingo was the only place that I felt really did this after interrogating them during the first interview (I interviewed them twice, just to make sure). The atmosphere is open, inviting, inclusive, loving, fun, colorful, and exciting. Mrs K, the director, the teachers, and all other staff have shown nothing but love and encouragement to our child and us from day 1. They are extremely patient and I have never felt rushed or brushed aside when wanting to discuss my child's day or discuss anything at all, really. The facility is not large and cookie cutter/corporate like a lot of the higher priced brand names. This is a small privately owned school where the owners work and are fully hands-on. They are invested in their school and it shows. They try to be flexible and accommodating and are not bound to rigid corporate policies that don't make sense, especially if it's in the child's best interest to be flexible (yes, I've read the parent handbooks of other places and compared them to Flamingo's). They really do take the time to get to know your child and treat the child as an individual, and not just another number or lump all children together based on statistics or stereotypes. Compared to the other places I looked into, Flamingo is definitely more concerned about health and nutrition of the children. They serve organic milk and all natural snacks, encourage healthy lunches (parents prepare and pack, they do not prepare lunch), teach the children to garden (organic as well), and have fun "cooking" lessons where children learn to make their own healthy snacks (such as apple smiles: sliced apple rings with almond butter, raisins for eyes, and marshmallows for a smile). Besides the amazing staff, I love that Flamingo is very progressive. Depending on the age/class, they have Spanish lessons, music, group activities, gardening, and too many other fun things to remember. I think yoga class is on the agenda soon, too. Our child started in the 2 year old class (now in the 3 yr old class) and even at 2, the class did LOTS of artwork and creative play. In the 3 year old class, they started a bit more formal education but it's still fun and play based (which is important to us that children be allowed to play and be children). Another great thing about Flamingo is that the school is very diverse with all types of families. I noticed that the families here tend to be more involved--maybe because its a smaller preschool (for ages 1-5) or maybe because Flamingo encourages parent interaction (lots of events, parties, formal parent-teacher conferences 2x/year, informal conferences as needed or requested, email updates...). Our child has been attending Flamingo Island for 16 months now and loves going to school to play with friends and to see the teachers and staff. As a mom who works outside the home, it is crucial that I feel that our child is happy, cared for, feels loved, and is safe when away from us. I would randomly leave work to pop in and check up on our child just to make sure everything was ok in the beginning for months. Flamingo was always welcoming of the visits and I haven't seen any red flags on any issues. I felt like I could trust Mrs. K and staff from the first interview and they have shown time and time again over the last 16 months how much they care about the children. They have surpassed all expectations we have of a preschool and child care facility and is the perfect fit for our needs. I almost never review things, but I came across Flamingo Island's Yelp reviews by accident and saw the 2 negative reviews here and felt compelled to say something. I obviously can't say what happened with those people's individual interactions with the preschool, but those reviews are ridiculous! Moreover, neither of these individuals ever had children actually attending this school. My son is 3 and a half and has been going to Flamingo Island for a year in a half now. Before finding Flamingo Island, my husband and I visited several preschools and were starting to think maybe we were going to have to keep our son home for a bit longer because the prospects were not encouraging. I was so relieved when we found Flamingo Island - it was an oasis of bright, happy, clean, safe, adorable etc. I have no doubt I could nitpick if I put my mind to it, but overall we have had a very pleasing experience with Flamingo Island. It is true Ms. Kay is not an educator, she's a nurse (which I think is a pretty valuable thing to have on staff btw). She's also not in charge of curriculum - she's an administrator/owner. My son just graduated from the Busy Bees classroom, whose curriculum was developed by Ms. Tamiko, an amazing woman with a Phd in early childhood education, who is so remarkable with the kids I call her a child-whisperer. It is true that there is some turnover with the assistant teachers - but that is because the school intentionally hires really wonderful people who are on their way to bigger and better things in the future. We are always sad to see these teachers go, but they are fresh and excited to work with young kids (no burnout) and always replaced by more fantastic people. And the lead teachers stay constant. The school does all sorts of fun regular activities (music/dance, gardening, arts & crafts, I think even yoga for the older kids) and holiday activities (parties for Mother's Day, Father's Day, Grandparent's Day, Fourth of July, Halloween - you name it) and just because activities (ex: they had a wear your pajamas to school/Zootopia movie afternoon last week). And then of course they do age-appropriate learning with numbers, letters, writing, reading, using scissors etc. On top of that, it seems like they are always replacing playground equipment, having their hand-painted murals redone, and redecorating this or that. My son really enjoys going and has improved at a great many things during his time there. Bottom line: My husband and I are committed to giving our kids the best start in life and we choose to send our son (and, one day, daughter) to Flamingo Island. My girls--3-year-old twins and 19-month-old--absolutely love this school. They have grown so much, both academically and socially, in a very short amount of time. While it took over two months for them to go to their previous school without major complaint or resistance, it's taken only a week for them to bond with their teachers and classmates here at Flamingo Island. This school is great. My daughter started when she was 12 months. She is now 18 months and she can say her ABC's, count to 10, and she knows all of the nursery rhymes. The activities they provide are superb. The teachers and directors are very loving and nice. I am so happy that we found this school. As for as the two negative comments on here, they are far from the truth. I think the people are mad b/c their child could not attend the school. JMO. read more

My son attended this preschool over 3 years ago, but he was there for about 3 years and we loved it! It was rough start for both of us, but it definitely got better. I couldn't have found a better place for him. I wanted to find a place where the teachers actually taught the children not just watched them. I had a babysitter but that is not what I needed. I did have a problem with my sons first teacher that he ever had there but she left on her own thankfully! But the place is great! They care for the children and make sure they are always in good hands. The place is always clean. When my son was there they always have you ring your child some sunscreen and bug repellent for when they go outside, not a lot of places do that. I'm not sure how helpful this will be since it was a few years ago that he attended, but check it out for yourself! They are very helpful and very informative so give em a call or go in for a visit. read more

This is an amazing school! My son has learned a multitude of skills that will help prepare him for kindergarten. This school even offers music lessons. This is something my son always looks forward to and talks about constantly. Mr. Vinny is a wonderful music teacher and really connects with the children. The most important thing to my wife and I is the level of dedication this schools takes to ensure good communication. Not once have we ever ran into any problems or had issues with the staff. Flamingo Island is a great school. We sent both our kids there last year and if it wasn't for me getting a different job we would still be there. The teachers are awesome and the school is safe and clean. I would recommend to anyone to send their kids here. read more

Our son goes to flamingo Island Preschool and we absolutely love it!!!! It was hard finding a school that we felt could give our son the love that his family gives him on a daily basis. Plus he and I had been together since I had him, and all you moms out there know how hard it is to make that transition. This is the best preschool in Richardson. Unlike many franchises the owners work in the school everyday. They care a great deal about the children and parents experience. They are constantly investing in the school. Just recently installed a real beach for children's sensory development. My child is 2 years old and she knows how to count to 10 in English and Spanish. They focus on emotional and social development. My daughter is encouraged to use her to use words. The owners ensure the environment is positive. The care givers do not bring their personal problems into the environment. The education approach is sound, overall dietary approach is sound, overall discipline approach is sound. Staff member who took my call is unprofessional and rude. I called to inquire about taking a tour and potentially enrolling my child and they said a staff member would call me back. Over a week passed, no one called, so I called again and was told the same. A couple of days have passed since then and I still haven't gotten a call. When I called the second time to inform them that no one had gotten back to me in over a week, they weren't even apologetic. I won't be calling them back and if they do call, I won't bother taking a tour. I guess they're not interested in having more clients. read more

My husband and I had high hopes for this school. We set up an initial visit in Fall of 2015. We liked the school, and we paid a deposit to ensure that our daughter could start in the Busy Bees class in August 2016. We were excited when they told us she could start at the beginning of June because I am 35 weeks pregnant, and I needed some help. We went in for a parent teacher conference, and everything was clear for her to start in June. Two days later, the owner and director, Miss Kay, called to say that not only could they not accommodate our daughter's earlier start date, but that she couldn't start in August as planned (and paid for months earlier). She would not give a specific reason, except that another family who was expected to leave was no longer leaving. I asked why they would take our money and say that our child could start in August if that wasn't the case, and she had no answer. She had no answers or explanations, and now I have to find childcare for my daughter at the last minute. Miss Kay and her staff lied to us about their availability, but they certainly cashed our check that we wrote to supposedly hold our daughter's place in their school. I should point out that Miss Kay is NOT an educator, she is a nurse. Her school does not have shade in the playground for the children. Her classrooms have hand sanitizer (with alcohol) accessible for all children to touch. The toys are old and dirty. She even admitted to a very high turnover rate among her own staff which to me points to people who are unhappy. Do NOT bother with this school. They will promise your child a spot and then take it away while keeping your money. Miss Kay and her husband and staff are crooks and liars. I plan to file complaints with the BBB and other school accreditation associations because assuring a spot in your school and then taking it back is criminal. read more

We absolutely love Flamingo Island Preschool. I researched and researched and read tons of reviews before going to Flamingo. As a parent of course you want the best for your kids, you want to go to work and feel and KNOW your kids are safe and this is what Flamingo did for us. Our daughter had a babysitter up until she turned three so my husband and I were so worried about the transition. She had never been to a day care before but at Flamingo they made the experience amazing! The teachers are wonderful! Our daughter adores Mr. Vinny, Ms. Amber and Ms. Jennifer. Oh and don't forget Mr. George! All of them are wonderful and there is always someone greeting you with a smile when you drop off your kids! Ms. Kay is excellent and very knowledgeable. She is also a registered nurse! Yes a registered nurse!!One of the things that I love about Flamingo is the activities they have like Mother's Day, Father's Day, their Fall Festival or the 4th of July parties! I love those because We get to know her little friends and their parents and get involved more with her school. Oh and don't forget the visits from the firefighters and Santa! We've recently moved but we don't mind the drive because we know our daughter loves her school, her teachers and all of her friends. We love you Flamingo Island. Simply put, This is the best preschool in Richardson. Unfortunately, my daughter has only attended for two years, my wife and I only wish we had found Flamingo sooner. When we moved into the area we had her in a Montessori school, and did not like the way things were going, so we decided to shop around a little more and found a place that is truly dedicated to learning, Loving, nurturing, developing, differentiating, and enhancing the whole child. Ms. Amber does a fantastic job of engaging the kids into the learning. She also recognizes that not all the kids are on the same level of learning, so she does an excellent job of differentiating her lesson. She also maintains a perfect balance of structure and unstructured learning. Mr. Vinni is awesome, he gives lessons in piano, guitar, and drums (mine only takes piano). He has a real knack for getting the kids to higher level thinking. He also introduced the kids to the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Queen, and a bunch more. They all truly care about their students, even if a child is breaking a rule, they take the time to explain, "why we have this rule" "why we should follow it". Even if a child is struggling with academics, or behaviorally they take the time to make sure that individual gets what he/she needs in order to be successful. This is how we know that they truly are dedicated to the children All the festivals are great as well, not only are they always fun, but they provide a level of educational activities for the students and parents to do together. It is also a great way for us as parents to meet all the students in the class, as well as their parents. It has become a true family oriented community all because of these activities that the school hosts. They are also currently building a garden on the side of the school, where there is to be more activities and well as a place for the kids to do yoga, and be outside. We have felt that Flamingo is not only a great place educationally but it is also very safe. the building itself is a tornado shelter, and someone is also at the front at all times. The very few concerns that we have had, have always been addressed immediately and professionally. Over all this is the perfect school for our family, and we will be sending our new born there when she is old enough. My wife and I highly recommend this school to anyone! It's never easy leaving your child with other people while you go off to work but there is something different here at Flamingo, the feeling of trust. We've been taking our son to Flamingo for two years now and he just started his next "big boy" class and turning 3 in a couple of weeks. The amount of growth he's shown, most especially recently, is incredible! The staff and teachers here take a genuine interest in my child regardless if he's in their class or not. I'm very impressed with the knowledge the staff has that no matter who walks in the door, Ms K, knows about your child's day. My son loves all of his teachers and they've helped him overcome his morning crying from having to be dropped off. Now he runs in and gives a hug to his teachers. He's doing great and all in a huge part to the talented, patient people who work here. The parties they throw are hands down memorable and fun!! We appreciate what the staff has done for us. One of the worst day care facilities I have ever taken my children. Management is very deceiving. They try to manipulate the system to where they make you feel like you should be honored that they even let you bring your children here instead of the other way around. They have lied stating that my child was "pinched" by another student when I could clearly see the teeth marks in the bruise where my child was bitten. Their security system is amazing, which I do appreciate, but why is the lack of my child's toys in their classroom old and broken?! All of the good teachers leave within a short period of time giving me reason to think that this place has a lot going on behind the scenes. read more

I can't say enough positive things about this school! I've had my kids in several places and recently had to switch them after being at Flamingo for 2 years because we moved. During the first few days at their new school, I already felt a huge difference in the quality of teaching and care.
